I am an old cyclist who now pedals slowly on flats these days and have found these shoes absolutely brilliant , they are a synch to fasten with perfect pressure evenly on the foot and remarkably waterproof , I know they don't run cheap but you forget the cost once you wear them .
Lotta places in MTB to go cheap, but IMO shoes ain't one of them (neither are helmets and pedals). The BOA system is a really nice luxury to have, and the shoes are light, comfortable and IMO look a lot nicer than most flat pedal shoes cause they don't have that skater aesthetic which I'm not a fan of. Plus they offer great protection without too much bulk, and like you said, you forget about the premium in price after you try them.
Just got them in grey. They're great, you just gotta go up a size. I'm a 10 in Nike, Adidas and Five Ten so I ordered 11 and they fit perfectly. Mostly wore Five Ten Freeriders which are great, but I wanted to try something different with less of a skater aesthetic. These are light, comfortable, have great grip with my DMR Vault pedals, have good protection without too much bulk, and while I can't speak to their durability yet, they're very well made. Never tried BOA but I can see what all the hype is about, they're great and while unnecessary, they're a nice luxury to have (kinda like Fidlock chin straps). Highly recommend!
I have been trying to find a pair of BOA shoes that are as sticky as Five Tens, might need to try these out but damn they're expensive. So far the Ride Concepts are not sticky enough for me.

Thanks for the share. I agree with all your observations.

How does the sole compare to the Five Ten Freerider shoes? Is it as sticky?
I've had both and I would say as sticky or better. Fox Union is my new favorite go to shoe.
About the same. Very good balance of sticky, control and durability on the Fox.
When is the Nebo full review coming? 😅
This week hopefully
Did you have to size down with less padded tongue etc
Not at all. Lower profile but fits perfectly well.
Fox Union is a great shoe, however, zero chance I'm dropping $225 on a shoe because it has boa.
It is a wee bit pricey for sure!
I got mine at Fox sale, for $60
The older shoe looks more like a BMX/Skateboard sneaker.
Definitely. Comfy shoe style with more rigidity and protection.
