      @@Jamesyshreds how was the Slash vs the GT Fury?

    • @Jamesyshreds
      @Jamesyshreds 2 года назад +2

      @@corismsyn I can't honestly give a fair comparison because I only rode the Fury for one lap and my slash is fully set up for me but I'll give it a go. The Fury is super capable, it felt balanced and never lost grip when I pushed it.
      The Slash is a hard one. I bought it 3 months ago and I'm still getting to know it. It's the perfect 'point and shoot' machine, if you want to descend fast then that's the bike for you. I'm more of a poppy rider and like to throw my bike around with ease. The big wagon wheel 29ers are not exactly ideal for that. It has grip for days and it peddles like a trail bike up hills. I'm still figuring out the finer details as I've blown up my shock twice because of bad manufacturing on the super deluxe.

      I've had worse low speed slams then most of my high speed crashes. Low speed you get thrown down high speed you have more chance to roll out.

      @NoUse4aName. Год назад +2

      It's not just how fast you fall, but how you fall and what you are falling on, that determines the risk. Going fast on hard dirt track is much easier to navigate than going mid speed on stone/root areas. Slow tech falls are hard on joints, but big jumps have a higher risk of breaking something when things do go wrong.

      Makes you appreciate some of these guys we watch on RUclips ... That little rock jump before the rock jump on Dirt Merch looks pretty tame on GoPro, but in person it's insane. And those little chutes you see, not only are they steep but they're so high up. Crabapple is the craziest though IMO... Only other time I refused to try a jump was Ft Hill at Thunder in Mass. Humbling is the perfect word!!
      Edit: Oh and Banana Peel at Trestle. That was a few years ago soon after it opened, but even still I'm not sure I'd try it.

I was 15 minutes into a my first ride with my house mate who does trail crew, only really have been in the bike park 10 days before that but progressed fast. I didn’t know how to judge my speed for a flat drop and nose dived to flat, hitting my face off the entrance of the berm basically. Bike patrol also took 45 minutes to get there because they accidentally went to the real a line rock drop at first which is on the other side of the mountain lol. Good times

    FR560 is the kind of rim that could survive Brage Vestavik kind of usage. Maybe the spokes on that wheel were loose?

      It's aluminum. Doesn't matter who makes it or how well, you turn aluminum sideways on impact, its bending

      @@BuffiestFluff That hit probably would've broken a carbon rim too, I doubt any wheel would survive that. He landed basically to flat, while very nose down and slightly sideways, those always tend to be super nasty.

      I also run the FR560, any hit that can taco one of those, is breaking ANY wheel.

    LOVE your content. This gave me an idea. Host a mountain bike film competition and fly the winner out to do something like this. See what the community is made of!

    "I've never seen that" - lol, I remember jumping back in the late 80- early 90's, when landing anything but completely straight, your rims would just fold like wet cardboard... 😂

    So, in my early 20's we had some good size bmx jumps the Suetos house and I folded a wheel like that. Sprained wrist, back, huge gash (and now scar) over my eye & a broken collarbone. Turns out that stock Dyno 24" single wall wheels don't like 200+ lb dudes and 20' doubles. Ha. Fun times and that's why I always buy the best wheels I can. Glad they're ok-ish.

    First time going to whistler this year, did a tiny jump but I weigh a little over 250LBS. Landed on my ankle and had the same problem of it slowly getting worse, Quick visit to the whistler medical centre to find I wouldn't be riding for a while. Speedy recovery James!

    hunter landed, did a small bounce with the front, pulled hard right to ride the berm while no weight on the wheel, wheel touched down pointing at about a 75 degree angle to the direction of momentum, taco + fall
