I've got a NOS Saracen S-tour frame in the vault. They were made by a specialty builder in the Pacific NW USA- I forget the name though. One of the first monocoque frames, and a good one, built specifically for DS/4X back in the day...
That dirt jump at the end takes it for me. Really nice. Although the smoke Is hilarious 😂 a bit cringy but it's ok, you can tell that's a proud owner. Good video guys!
@@gmbntrue story. After 20 yrs not riding a mtb, and the last 3 years watching mtb videos on RUclips, my father in law loaned me his old mtb he picked up in a thrift shop to see if I liked it. A 2009 gr aggressor. After a week on it I gave it him back after realising i loved it, got my own bike and away I went. 😅
That kona deserved super cool , literally every human knows and recognises it , everyone has had one and progressed from it and that particular one looks awesome ! Great vid as always guys 👍
I like the Kona and the Santa Cruz. I had to work on a S cruz last month, it was a pleasure to work on it...I hate working on cannondales I don't know why? Thanks guys 🇬🇧👍
My first MTB was a 2016 GT Avalanche Comp 27.5" hardtail and I replaced the front forks with a 110mm travel Rockshock. Took it everywhere, it's a workhorse. Now, I'm riding Giant Trance 3 full sus 150mm travel front and back and the GT has become my commuter. But loved the hardtail, lots of fun and thrills. I've fallen off on the GT more times than I can remember but it's dicey which makes it so much more fun.
Epic series I hope it sticks around for a while working mans dentist epic 😂😂 Marks PBJ is a thing of beauty but Star of the show is definitely Russell and like Bienvenido at rampage he got robbed of a victory +1880 too late for Martin Ashton 1780😂😂
My take away from this was if Neil has never ridden a trials bike, we need a video of Martin instructing Neil and Blake on how to ride trials. A game of BIKE?
I agree niel I agree it's not something we would have or want but it is sooo bad it's kinda great! And bless it's owner because for sure like us he loves his bikes Ride On!
I ran an older s works m2 powder coated silvervane w 100mm fox float bontrager racelite rims w bontrager stamped king hubs xtr v brake and xt crank and made ss specific w worn chain 32 17 gears and no slop. Ran it for at least 10k miles probably more never had to change it so it is possible. Oh yeah i ran it very aggressive up and downhill. Dont hate because no horizontal dropouts if you take the time you can do it right.
Nope. You can tell by the attention to detail & neatness on the cable/housings. Dentist would never take the time to do that & no bike shop ever would. That’s an ocd bike nerd.
Keeping your wheels on the ground is the primary focus of all suspension. The headshock on that Super-V is probably a 60mm model, which was in keeping with other standard forks of that era
100% disagree on both the super nice bikes. They are both pavement princesses, and it don't matter if we're talking 4x4's or MTBs, pavement princesses are just sad. My 3 month old Fuel EX looks like I ran over it with a bulldozer, and every flaw was born out of a fantastic day on the mountain.
Jeez, i sent that picture in ages ago. It's a Sick Wulf, not a headbanger. Bomber z1, middleburn cranks, box gears, azonic bar and stem, formula cura brakes and in that picture it was on 2.6 hellkats....had it 4 and half years now. Still wouldnt swap it.
What about my 2014 cannondale trail 4? Maybe a budget bike, but I love riding it, especially after swapping out the forks for a pair of fox float 32s. It’s done everything and survived, gotta love a hardtail…
He rode the Andes in the early 2000s on a rim brake hardtail, inferior to what some 16 yo boys ride today. A pro like him can do such stuff even on a simple bike
I have a set of Mavic road rims with the ceramic coating My rims don't sound like a couple of randy seals. In the wet. It's usually me screaming as the bike make no attempt to slow down from 7 mph and m face is getting closer to the f**ing bus. I assume Martyn is going to run over Neil and Blake on his return. Just not sure if he'll be in his motor or hi wheelchair.
Lol yeah I remember that time when it was forcefully marketed as combining the stiff control of a rigid fork with the comfort of suspension. Sounds like it might have all been guff. I still like the look of those super Vs, and the similar Trek from that time, even though at a glance they look like a shit Y-frame horror-show from Argos!
To be fair, most of the early pro's would lock out, or dummy up their suspensions. The Headshock worked well for what it was; 50-80 mm of fairly soft suspension. Better than the Girvin 'flex-stem', and (arguably) not much different than the first Rockshox forks either.
Why do these guys not like Cannondale? One of the most iconic brands in the United States, along with Specialized and Santa Cruz… I guess we all are just biased.
Don’t be embarrassed just admire it so what if it’s crusty it’s your baby and no one can take that away from you I have a 2014 glory Still rocking 26s I wouldn’t even swap it for one of those Uno’s or V 10 or any other 10 K plus DH bikes
Honestly do people actually ride these super expensive bikes in the real world? Rode my modest hardtail today and after 2 hours it was covered in shit and grinding the gears and brakes. I'd have been crying of it had cost me £10k not £2k with parts that are relatively cheap to replace.
Do you think Blake and Neil were too harsh or did they get it just right? Do you want to see more? Let us know in the comments! 👇
Comedy gold 🤣
Nah, keep it coming
They got it right, Cannondale had it coming...
Please do more episodes like this with Neil and Blake, this was very entertaining

Blake made my day by saying the GT Aggressor is super nice! I have the same bike and love it and Blake is my hero! Day made! ❤
I have a similar bike that I’m learning how to work on bikes with, and yes I 100% felt the same

Kona are dirtbag bikes here in the USA- entry level DH fare for the 'YEEE-HAAW crowd.
This is great series more of these please!
Neil, Blake, its been nice knowing ya, but i think this was your last day at the studio after Martin sees this 😂
As a fan of those ol' big tube C-dales, I hope he puts it to them.😉
"I bet this guy has super white teeth" ... this is why GMBN is worlds more entertaining than GCN
I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I was going to, love it!

Something about those Konas…. Staring at them in halfords as a kid, wishing for richer parents

The Transition DJ- bike is in the bike cave from "MARK". Was once in a GMBN- Tech Show...

I'm told Headshok were intended for traction and not for jumping/drops. With 80mm max travel I will tend to agree.
Keeping your wheels on the ground is the primary focus of all suspension. The headshock on that Super-V is probably a 60mm model, which was in keeping with other standard forks of that era

I want Martin Ashton's take on the B900 and the Super V. I think he may have harsh words for the Super V...
They are heavy. The geometry was great. Still riding an '05 Stuff.
That was fantastic and funny.
Those super Sh... Bikes from middle to end of '90 .m
"Working man dentist" heh .

Canondale always made such a big deal about how superior their headshock was compared to everything...then none of their pros rode it

Blake is just too kind. You can see it’s hard for him to criticize someone else’s bike.
Jekylls aren’t pretty but I love the two I have. Dude should be ashamed of all that crap on it. 😂
Suggestion: Don't include "stock" bikes. I think this should be only based on customized bikes.
I think maybe separate the types of bikes - ie dirt jumpers, enduro, trail, hardtail, ebike, tandem, etc etc.
They are all customised to at least some degree
That red drop bar cannondale shoulda been atleast meh
