Awesome!!! Clamp design technology to hold and easily swap tubes and tube types? #TopAndDownTube Just in case they reach their end of life? #Sustainability
The ex471 might be marketed as an enduro rim but it’s actually the most popular dh rim in the market together with the ex511 which is the wider version.
@rubenvor unfortunately it won't be cheap....I'm interested in how they will achieve the bottom bracket in full production carbon (as opposed to this lug design).
@@tim__sadler indeed seems like a complicated frame to manufacture, but as per the patent seems like they have it close to production. I hope they make it well, without defects like the headset cup on the current model.
Probably because the upper part of the rear (one piece carbon) is actually the same part from the Enduro that part does not need to be reinvented i guess
Great bike for pro racing, but let's be honest no DH bike is holding us mere mortals back. $10k-$15k bikes are just plain silly on so many levels and that seems to be Specialized's M.O. these days.
Wonderful bike. If it comes to production 10k frame only 😬 Also some mulet bikes the wheels looks similar in size, but in this bike the rear wheel looks much smaller interesting, maybe rear 2.4 27.5 Cannibal is thinner smaller than the 2.4 front 29er.
I do not think this would be the final bike,I see more like an alloy bike close to the actual Demo. The patent for the next Enduro talks a little more about frame materials,to me this kind of construction like atherton bikes seems to intricate for a pushing big production numbers. This new frame is not so different than the old Demo, even the old frame was hollow in the bottom, they can make it full metal 100%.
Ooo interesting insights - I feel you're right too - whilst the top tier DH racers are fastest enough to feel and benefit from Aero gains - I feel the brake covers are more likely to keep the brakes mud & crud free whilst help maintain brake temperature - so that lever feel and bite point is ultra consistent! Cheers Owen
Next demo will be like the actual stumpy 15 but in aluminium with no routing anymore, axs for dh, buttons and electronics for suspension setup, covers for shocks.
Definitely just you. As Owen mentioned, the Spesh Epic HT of 30+ years ago was a bonded carbon frame with gorgeous ti lugs (which were sand castings, IIRC).
Ooo great knowledge! and yes I remember - those GT's - although I feel that the STS Thermoplastic bikes from GT were slightly different to this latest crop of bikes that use Ti lugs and Carbon bonded tubes! But again great memory - those bikes looked amazing! Cheers Owen
Great Questions ! So yes Jordan's race bike runs with DT Swiss EX471 - which do have a 25mm internal width. Its a strong rim - and the Specialized Gravity Team have a huge amounts of insights and raw race knowledge as to what works for them. Cheers Owen
Nice to see S figured out how to use a shock without turning half of it sideways and extending it with a super bendy clevis. It must have been nice for them when Ohlins started making MTB components. Now S has another brands rep to ruin with blown shocks.
Interesting - Assuming when you say BK your saying his proto Pivot - which agreed is also not unlike - at least in construction the Atherton A series bikes - which is your favourite? Cheers Owen
Not too sure about that part of the suspension that is under the bike. Seems like it is asking to be smacked by a rock under compression or in a big rock garden
The way that it mooved i'd say that it gets out of the way enough in compression to stay safe, otherwise it's just a matter of extending the frame to add a shock guard.
What do you think about Jordan's bike? Would you change anything?
YUP, I'd put a massive bash guard on, like the old haro BMX, so the suspension linkage doesnt hit rocks.
Only Jordan would know it's after all it's Jordans bike 😂
Yes, I'd add a shiny, gold S-WORKS die-cut to the top tube and *maybe* a "FutureDemo" logo somewhere! It's a BEAUTY!!
Awesome!!! Clamp design technology to hold and easily swap tubes and tube types? #TopAndDownTube

Has to be the most impressive bike I have ever seen.
Owen...another great roport....you are getting quite good at these....more and more folks are calling for "more of Owen"!!! I agree!
That carbon seat stay is identical to the one on my Enduro. They probably used the same mould for that.
Cool bike! Thanks
The ex471 might be marketed as an enduro rim but it’s actually the most popular dh rim in the market together with the ex511 which is the wider version.
I'm looking forward to seeing this translate into Trail/Enduro tech for the masses... new Enduro frame has this set-up in the patent!
I'm waiting for that too. I best is going to be great!
@rubenvor unfortunately it won't be cheap....I'm interested in how they will achieve the bottom bracket in full production carbon (as opposed to this lug design).

I love how they kept the look from the original ones with the whole rear triangle
Probably because the upper part of the rear (one piece carbon) is actually the same part from the Enduro that part does not need to be reinvented i guess
@@alex_e4r33d yeah but that look goes back to like the mid 2000's or something like that. There's a good bunch of demo 8's wich do not have that look

Thought it was an Atherton bike for a moment ! 😅
Looks industrial and sexy at the same time. Love it
There's a kink in the rear brake line right at that stupid crossover in front of the rear wheel nice!
More pro DH bike checks with Owen, please
Thanks for the feedback - Can do!
Cheers

Love the look of this type of construction ❤
It looks like the linkage is going hit rocks and snap
Same !
However, the link will move rearwards and up as the rear arm travels. Perhaps they had a bashguard there, but found it works without ?
for me it looks like the front sprocket is lower than the linkage so its basically in a safe position
Pretty sure the seat stay is off the enduro, hence it looks production :)
Secret society makarno bike , remote control to rear shock!
From which hardware store they bought the plumbing from? Or did they borrow them from their own bathroom?

How efficient is it uphill?
😍
Spacing in the rear is because they are using the current Enduro bike seat satay.
Those covers may be a ruse to be more aero.
Ooo interesting insights -

Why does it have the Fort Williams race tag on it?
EX471 with 25mm Internal Width, when the rest are on +30mm
When we all start talking about widther rims, make bike feel: numb and slower?
#OH MY GOD!!! 🎩😍👌🏻
1998 wants their raceline brakes back
Next demo will be like the actual stumpy 15 but in aluminium with no routing anymore, axs for dh, buttons and electronics for suspension setup, covers for shocks.
Looks like a Home Depot or IKEA build tbh. But if this allows things like repairable CF frames, it will be good for cyclists and the environment.
Is it just me or do a few manufacturers seem to be copying the Atherton design with lugs and tubes
How can they copy something that’s been around for longer than the athertons have been alive?🤦
Definitely just you. As Owen mentioned, the Spesh Epic HT of 30+ years ago was a bonded carbon frame with gorgeous ti lugs (which were sand castings, IIRC).
Bisakah saya mendapatkan spearpark this is bikecykle?
GT made bikes like that decades ago. LTS

We have gone back to a Specialized Epic 1990
Also, the GT STS DH Lobo?
@@gmbntech 1997/1998 some time later :)
Oh and YETI...
@@gmbntechyep I see a lot of GT in this

Looks like an atherton
It seems to have a very similar frame construction - but the suspension system is quite different - which bike would you go for?

“Why is he seat so low” it’s a downhill bike not an XC bike 😂
The linkage looks pretty exposed
Nice to see S figured out how to use a shock without turning half of it sideways and extending it with a super bendy clevis. It must have been nice for them when Ohlins started making MTB components. Now S has another brands rep to ruin with blown shocks.
Atherton concept 🫵😅
Specialized Epic hardtail from many many many year ago too!

Looks Like Lego
Really, really nice Lego though!

That's just a modern sunn radical + nothing new here 😅
Can we please convince specialized that they should name this not demo but the full version or sth😂
that's unrideable with the lower linkage! lol you probably can't ride then!
can i get a heart

I can't help thinking they are copying BK's pivot

Not too sure about that part of the suspension that is under the bike. Seems like it is asking to be smacked by a rock under compression or in a big rock garden
Great point! They might have it tucked out the way enough that it's never a problem?
The way that it mooved i'd say that it gets out of the way enough in compression to stay safe, otherwise it's just a matter of extending the frame to add a shock guard.
Certainly a complicated way to get some adjustable progression, they should think about something more simple ....
I'm pretty sure Finn Iles crashed at a race last year because the linkage hit a big rock.
