This is absolutely the most thorough and easily understandable instructional video for programming Viper FOBs. Thanks for making it easy.
Glad you liked it!
Outstanding! Just got my old Viper working again with your help. Thanks Martin!
Looked all over RUclips and internet on how to program my remote, you by far explained it the best. Thank you for your help!
;)
Thank you. This is the only tutorial that worked for my viper remote except that I had to hold the valet button in as I pressed the remote buttons
Thank you very much! With my Viper 7701, I had to use channels 2, 3, 4 and5; I still had to go through channel 1 with valet button part of process, but skipped step with actual remote. This saved me time, money and stress! Thanks a lot!
Thanks for the video. It took me a few trys seeing as how my buttons were not in correct sequence, but I finally figured it out.
1998 dodge ram 2500 (manual trans.) with Python 1200XP/473P remote. Bought the truck used, key fobs had dead batteries. Replaced batteries and nothing. These instructions worked perfectly to program the new fobs. Just follow his instructions, pause the video as you go if you have to.
Thank you for this video!
Thanks for making this tutorial. I had to replace my Avital transmitter and your video made much more sense than the directions. I just had to get channel 1 setup and it remembered all the other commands as well (since it was a replacement, not a new install).
Did it work for you, my old avital transmitter going out I have a new one, but didn't know how to do it till now..
simply awesome and perfect. this is explained in the simplest way. after watching this i was able to program my remote in under 12 secs.
Thank you! This video helped me figure out the Viper 7111V and probably saved myself $50+
Anytime
Only your video helped me program my viper remote...you are the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is also valid for Python 7701 p/v/x, I just tried for Toyota Sienna 2009 and manage to do in first go.....Thanks Lessco Electronics.......you are the best
thanks for goin outta your way to show us how to do this ,appreciated
Hey, this worked for my AutoMate Remote start/Alarm combo! Thank you so much! I programmed a cheapo aftermarket transmitter from Ebay that was $17! WooHooo!
Hi Vin, I am looking to program an ebay replacement for my Automate too.
Where did you find the valet button for it?
Thanks in advance!
Thank you for making this video. It has helped me out a lot. 👊🏽 👍🏽 😁
i've got an older Viper alarm, and one of my remotes had lost its programming. This video worked fine for my system
Aa
I think this is just what I needed. Thank you.
This worked excellent, I just did it on my car... I have a Viper alarm with replacement remote I472, I had a 2-way at first but they keep breaking i'm just going to stick to this basic one.
The chirps worked a little different than at first it was 2 chirps for lock 3 chirps for unlock 1 chirp for Remote Start, and 4 chirps for AUX on this remote! Worked great though definitely a good video
Very help video. My remote start now worksThanks alot!
Aprince G which channel is remote start
Thank you for all your help. Awesome Video
Well done Exactly what i needed. i was sure my remote had just lost its sync with the alarm system. couple of minutes watching the video and a couple doing it and all is well!
Thank you so much for your invaluable information, highly appreciate it, keep it up the outstanding job, have a great day.
Hey thanks good info, got mine programmed right away
Worked with my Viper RPN 471T. No problem.
The answer is in the install manuals programming pages, or on dei's site in pdf format if you lost your manual
@smallm86
same way as I show, on that one remote start will program automatically after you program channel one, typically you hold lock and unlock on that model to start the car
Good video..I just program mine..Thanks!
Hi, thanks for the help! My remote start now works for the first time since owning the vehicle (purchased used)! However, I must have done something wrong as the doors will not lock or unlock with the remote. Thoughts?
@TheRiverMiss
Go under your dash, find the alarm, theres a 2 pin blue plug there, follow it to where it ends, theres your valet button
great video - if the device is a auto start and alarm combo; do you need to program the remote start function as well? or is it automatically programmed thanks
Not sure on system, but I have a viper 479v fob. It's blue and looks like a small phone, very common fob. It has always worked. I tried your method and got half way through. Got a chirp after holding valet and that was as far as I got. After I heard the chirp I pressed the lock button on the fob and did not get a tone confirming it read the fob. It has a remote start and alarm system to lock and unlock the vehicle.
Hi! I just discovered my car previously had remote start. It was installed at least 15 years ago before we got it. Anyway I followed the antenna wire to the box. It's a DEI Valet model 552T. I obviously don't have a remote, and it doesn't have a valet switch. I jumped the terminals in the blue plug and got nothing... Did the installer disable it before they sold it?? Thanks a lot!!
You may need to go to channels higher than channel four. After playing around a bit (restarting the sequence over a few times) starting out with only the lock working using the panic button, I eventually got the channels to match the buttons. I skipped the first three channels and used channel 4 and 5... and then it worked (matched for lock and unlock.) I don't have an aux and the panic did work! Go figure.
You do have to program all the buttons, thats a must
Thanks for the compliment, The only 2 ways that work on that are the 479v, 479p and the clifford comp. That 7701 is totally different, different frequency and all unfortunately
So I have one of these 7701, the unlock button isn't working too well. Can I buy a 471 which only has 2 buttons to assist with the unlocking if it can be program to work with the 7701?
Same exact way, it'll be no different for your lcd remotes, have fun
You need to program ch1 as lock, channel 2 as unlock, then 3 and 4 respectively, try that, if you still have trouble, try skipping programming ch2, Ive seen that work before as well.
Hello,
Great video I used 2 years ago! I bought a new replacement transmitter my 3rd or 4th and it didn't work. How can I delete all the remotes that are programmed so my new remote will work? Thanks
Thank you it worked just great thanks for the help :)
i want to program my 2nd key fob on my 07 nissan pathfinder, do i have to program both or just the one i just bought?
Hey do I have to have my viper 4606v programmed so that the smart start module can work with the system?
I just ordered a new Viper 7701, to replace my Python 7701 as it has broken.
I still don't get the chirps when I try to press once and hold down the Valet Button.
Does the car door need to be opened ALL THE WAY?
hope i can figure this out with your help , i have the valet 551R worked great for 2 years with good range from inside my upstairs and i have seemed to lost Range of my remote , sometimes i need to be next to my truck , other times it will work from 20 feet away , i have changed new batterys twice and checked all connections and all are good , any ideas ?
Great video
For me, I have I think the viper 3500 alarm (the small grey and black remote) would it be the same, except instead of the aux it'd be Trunk, and instead of the startup, it'd be panic? (My buttons are Lock, Unlock, AUX, and a "*" which I'm guessing is panic. Would I do the same?
You can do that, as long as they have the same fcc ID #. So many dei remotes are cross programmable
great video, just replace my old transmitter a 479v, all I had to do was 1. open door 2.turn key to ON position 3.press valet switch once. let go, then press and hold till hear a chirp 3.while still holding ON the valet switch I press and released the lock Button on my transmitter then heard a beep on it, follow by chirps on the car 4. turn the key to the OFF switch position (and again follow by chirps) and that was it. all I had to press was one single button on my transmitter and it learn all the other ones by it self,(lock, unlock, trunk, remote start all with the respective buttons) cool huh!
Your instructions worked the best all buttons worked.
Where was your valet switch?
Rigoberto Ortega thank you!! Your instructions help me add another remote. Which is what I was searching for.
Rigoberto Ortega just tried your method and it worked like a charm. Thanks so much
I have the one with lock and unlock as one button and then the trunk and remote start. So do i press the lock button for channel one and the again the same button for unlock for channel 2?
Lessco I purchase additional remotes from you a while ago off of eBay for my 474v. I turned he key to the on position while the driver's side door was open and then pressed and released the valet button then press and held down the valet button until the audible chirps the only remote the system is acknowledging is my original remote not the new remotes while programming the lock button.
+Shannon Crews try learning them in a different order and see how it goes.
for channel one you push the valet button once (and hold) thats the 1st channel you learned successfully, after hat hit the valet button 2x and hold it (you should hear 2 chirps for channel 2) then you learn ch2's button, same for 3 (but 3x) and 4 (but 4x). and ALL the remotes MUST be done at the same time, if you dont the old one will be deleted. Good luck
Will this work on my auto mate model 435? (that’s what it says on the black box)
you can only use remotes that end in 473v or p / or 474v or 473p on that model
I have a Viper 500 ESP installed and yes it's old i think i bought in 2001 but still works really good, i heard you say any remote can be programmed even the 2-way with LCD display, you think I'll be able to program one of the 2-way with LCD with my 500 ESP? please let me know I'll really appreciate it. Thank you.
does it work with the alarm but not with the factory switch? that tells you where the issue is coming from right there. iof the alarm does but not the cars switch the circuit is bad on the car side since the alarm throws its own 12v+ to the relays externally
Can you get at least channel one to program? Ive seen it where the alarm wants the lock/unlock on one button, let me know. Im curious
Sweet thanks for the video
THANK YOU IF IT DOES HAVE A HORN LOOK FOR A FLASH LAMP ?
Do I need the door locks grounded? I cant get my remote starter to program. I have no power locks. The LED on the module is not turning on. I have it grounded and also grounded the neutral saftey switch wire, but cannot seem to get it to work? Im not sure what im doing wrong any help is appreciated.
THanks
How do you program it if you have a valet switch instead of a button? I bought two of your remotes that were the same exact thing as the old one that came with my vehicle and I am just having a hard time programming it with the switch instead of the button.
i’m doing everything right and getting the chirp but my remote just won’t register to the system it’s an automate 7142a please someone help
hey, just got done installing a viper 5706V however when i go to remote start it gets ready to start, accessory, ignition but it doesn't engage the starter and im getting 4 flash "Transmitter shutdown error" any advice? thank you
Hi I have a python 1400xp remote starter and the python 474p transmitter. Can I buy any other 1-way DEI transmitter to program to my 1400, or does it have to be the 474p transmitter? My transmitter shell broke and I would like to buy a more modern looking transmitter. Thanks for the vid!
Thanks for your response by the way! Please tell me if you have any more info
When you program the 4 channels (or the lock unlock for that matter) itll start by holding lock and unlock togerther for 1.5 seconds
Seems I can't get a new remote to pair with my crap viper 500. Have check with bit writer the system is unlocked but when I follow your instructions the alarm gives me a loins siren after a few seconds on step one can't get to step two. I do hear the chirp after one and one more then hold. Any suggestions? Thanks
Glad you liked it
on non alarm type units, you dont need the door wire input, just do the programming minus that part. Do key on press valet button 1x then press and hold, then hit the transmitter to learn in the new code.
I can use channel 1 for lock and channel 2 for unlock and those will arm n disarm my alarm correct???
I have a valet 552t that hooked up out side car so i can program the remote before install and the light just flashes when given power and wont stop or go in to program mod any idea why thanks.
you need the install guide to allow you to get into the programming, once thats done you can get in there and do whatever you want
Hello
I have a dei 552t and want to upgrade to a 2 way lcd remote system, I like to find one that would be the same wiring as the 552t valet,.. Can you recommend one or two?? if there are any?? Please
I don't have a valet button I have a toggle switch. How do I program my DEI automate AM6 remote starter?
Hello,Will this work if I lost my old remote and I purchased a used remote
How do you program a 5th remote if one is broken or how do you delete all the 4 remotes to program 4 new remotes?
You can assign the buttons any way you like actually, but the default goes like this
1- lock
2- unlock
3- aux
4- aux 2
hi I have the viper 7142v alarm system, tge problem is I only had one remote,I ordered a spare but lost the one I was using, the cat is armed, can I still program in the new remote and b if so,what is the procedure?
Hey there, thanks for that! I've tried to add a remote to my DEI SST (1 mile range), but it's not working. The alarm only came with one remote, and I'm trying to add a non lcd 4 button. Is this my problem?
Instead of hittting the valet once and holding after the first channel learns, try pressing the valet 2x then holding it, Ive done that a few times myself to get them going if theyre stubborn.
you can do what I show or use a bitwriter and redo it all via an external loader
Some system have the chirp feature ommited (or be so weak you have a hard time even hearing it), that may be all there is to it, Dont let it deter you, follow through with the programming just as I do it.
I just purchased a vehicle that has the DEI 5X03 module, it’s missing the fob , do you know what fob it uses or can I use any DEI fob? Also where can I get the fob ? Great content btw, appreciate your reply...
Im in need of help, my car has a Hornet maxx1 system installed. I whish to add a new transmitter (474t) to the system, unfortunatelly while doing so the configuration on my existing key failed.
The programming mode of the maxx1 is diffrent from that of the systems discussed here. You firstly have to enter your 4 digit pin to unlock programming mode, after that the features for programming the transmitter are positioned at numer 20 - 25. These funtions are however for 2 button transmitters, mine both have 4 buttons.
Does anyone have any experience with adding 4 button transmitters to the maxx1 system?
any help would be appreciated.
I have a valet 551r just had to replace the key fob tried to program it and now it's all backwards normally I have to hold down both buttons to get the auto start to work. Now channel 2 is starting the car
Is there a way to reset everything and is there a simpler instruction process anywhere it's very confusing
Thanks for the video but I gotta quick question I have a busted Clifford sst 7701 remote and I want to program the new remote to my car. I currently have the 4 buttons, lock, unlock, a trunk button and a star button. I don't think the trunk button is programmed for my truck but the star button starts my car. When I go thru the process you showed do I still need to program the trunk button on channel 3? Or do I skip and program the star button?
479v/x is my remote and whenever i try doing this the remote just gives me the out of range signal. any suggestions?
This wont apply to you then. You have the older style system. What model do you have?
Tkxxxx 4 the video
I have a togo switch for my valet button how will this work?
I'm trying to program a remote for an alarm system that doesn't have that button in the car. It's from an older car, and I received a replacement remote that is supposed to be compatible (493T). I have the code to match the alarm brain. The instructions for programming involved "tracing" or ""cutting" the circuit board. I can't make out what to do and don't want to attempt it and render the new remote useless. Is there an alternative way of programming it? Can anyone point me in the right direction to get this sorted? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Sir that is same for remote funtions then thats all you used?
Hi, I have pythone remote starter installed 8 years ago and now I cant find the replacement. Can I program any remote starter to program. Or do I have to get particular remort. 🙏 Thank you🙏
can you show how to pair 5902 hd remote I am having a bit of trouble.
Bought a used car with Python 7701. I found the small black button under my driver side dash. However it doesn't respond or work...even though I turned my car power on.
For some reason I did exactly this and I got the beeps and everything but my lock and unlock buttons are not doing anything when trying afterwards
Hello, just had to replace the brain on an avital 3100 in my 1996 tahoe that had been installed by a shop a few years back. I have got everything working but the rear hatch release. I have tried all options in the manual and it does not want to program for the hatch using the trunk button on the remote. What am I missing or doing wrong? This was working before. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
For anyone trying to add a remote or program a remote for the DEI "Ready Remote" Start model #24921 or 24923, with remote fobs model 474T, 474S, 474P, 474L listen up. The instruction manual is incorrect. It says to put the key ignition, then press valet button/or toggle, then press remote button. That is WRONG. To add a remote or program remote on these models, you MUST pull both 30 amp fuses under the dash that go to the remote start module itself. With the ignition key OFF, pull both fuses. Then replace both fuses (key still OFF). Once fuses are back in, insert ignition key, turn to ON/Run. Then, press "AUX" or "PROG" bottom button on remote, and the park lights or horn will chirp, to confirm. That's it. Turn OFF the ignition key. Now the remote will be added, and all buttons will work. NOTE: on these models, you do NOT have to do anything with the Valet button/toggle switch to add or program the remote fob. Spent quite a bit of time on the phone with DEI trying to figure this out. They confirmed that the manual is wrong (for these older model DEI remote start kits 2005-2010). Every place on the web is wrong for these models. I hope this helps others looking here to figure this out. This video here is for the newer models of DEI remote start and alarms.
New or used, does not matter you can learn up to any 4 that are compatable to your system
cant get the toggle type to work right, can i switch it out to a push button style. viper alarm installed in 95
my viper 489v which is discontinued and is now the 7341v has a few other features like the panic and some valet modes, not sure how to program those?
As soon as I connect car battery my alarm goes off.
Am I supposed to program the remote while the alarm is screaming?
It seems like it would not be programmable in breach mode, right?
Edit to add:
I have the Rattler 300 and just bought the 471-T remote from you guys.
Thanks!
+DanG Tube ...I turned the key on before hooking up battery, then it worked after a few tries.
On ebay the transmitters have the make of vehicles can anyone of these work as a generic on the Viper ?
