- In this video I show how to turn off the confirmation chirps and ignition controlled door locks on an avital 3100. The process is similar for other DEI products such as Viper, Avital, Python, etc. The manuals are readily available online which tell you which menu does what, just make sure you are looking up the manual for your exact unit.

If it seems like your valet/programming button is unresponsive, check to see if the red led is blinking. If it is, then the brain is locked by a bitwriter and you'll need to do the reset procedure to unlock it. Then you can perform the procedure outlined in the video (along with other procedures).

Nice video. How do you do to make the Horn sound with lock / unlock ? I hooked the factory horn wire but it only sound the siren (chirp) , and the horn only sounds when the alarm was tripped. Thanks.
What does it mean when I press the remote and it makes the noise to lock doors and unlock doors but it doesn't actually lock or unlock it just makes the chirps

Thank you for your advicement, i was having issues. It locks and unlock but the alarm did not sound or beep as pressing the lock or unlock.. After this everything works like a champ

Hey man video helped a lot , I also have another issue I don’t know if I have to program the alarm to do it , but I have the Avital 5103 model , and I was testing to see if someone would let’s say get into my car and the alarm goes off and all but the The weird thing is that the car still turns on with the alarm going off do you know if this has to be programmed ….???? thank you very much for the video I really appreciate it
If the starter kill is not hooked up then the car would still start with the key even if the alarm is going off.

The 3100 is not a remote start unit.

Ok that showed how to disable or turn off Chirp, in the reverse I would think would enable that same feature correct?
Yeah, if you read the manual it tells you which is which. Same concept, different menus.
DIYAutoCar I have a avital 4105L already installed in my 2002 jeep wrangler it all works well but it came from factory default horn off but I want the horn on, I do have the the horn wire connected and I have tried over and over the programming feature following the manual but I just can't seem to get the horn to work maybe I'm just doing something wrong, can you please make a video of how to turn on the horn feature for the avital 4105L if it's possible thanks.
The Purge I have the same starter and same issue, did you ever figure it out?
The Purge ah I got it! For those wondering. You have to use the remote.
1. Ignition on then off
2. Hold the button until it honks.
3. Click the button once
4. Hold the button and keep holding it even after it honks.
5. While still holding the button click the unlock button.
Done. Wait thirty seconds or turn the ignition on and off. Alarm will honk.
Hey need help took my car to shop got the avital 3100 locks and unlocks just no noise what so ever he said it’s that model that 60 dollars he can make it have a chirp help please
That model should come standard with a siren in the box.
I have an old python alarm system. I have my keys turned on the ignition and presses then hold on the vallet button, but it never chirped. Could it be that my alarm brain is dead? I did however jumped my car not too long ago.
Did it ever chirp when it worked?

3100L is garbage. Is there any upgrade alarm system that would pretty much be plug n play by replacing the alarm module I have now ?
Unlikely. Some plugs might fit but a true plug and play is unlikely. If you get another directed electronics brand then the colors will be mostly standard which should make things easier.
what if your key fob isnt working , then how do you turn it off, since everytime it auto locks and you manually open the door, alarm does go on.
You use the same programming button to override it. I believe that you hold it and then turn the key to the on position or something similar.
Could the valet switch reach to the windshield?
It depends where the main unit is mounted. You could always just extend it if you really wanted up in that area.

They generally have to be the same brand for it to work.
My car will lock and arm the alarm with the remote but when I press the lock button the remote it won’t unlock the buttons so I have to go with the key unlock it manually. Any solution for this???

DIYAutoCarage No it doesn’t lock nor unlock when I use the button, being inside the car. It only locks being on the outside(arming the alarm) but it doesn’t unlock(unarming the alarm)
Can you only have the sound on when locking the car?
You should be able to. There's a variety of options in the manual for that.
For options such as crank time that aren't just on/off but cycle through different timings, do you press unlock to cycle through the choices? Or is unlock just on off only?
Which model are you working with?
I have the Avital 5303 on my Civic 2010. Looking to up the crank time a little bit because it doesn't crank to start when really really cold. I wasn't 100% sure so I didn't want to press unlock to change the setting without knowing. I'm comfortable with menu/navigating just wasn't sure how to toggle.
Did you install it or did you have a shop do it? You really shouldn't have to touch the crank time on a car like a Civic.
Reputable local shop did the install. I'm assuming here but only when it is freezing cold like today, the default .6 sec crank time isn't enough for the starter to turn over. I have zero problems with the auto start, only when it is freezing cold. Even when I have to go out and use the key, no problem starting, it just needed to crank a little longer. That is more or less my scenario here.
If they connected tach(which by the sounds of it, they didn't connect it and just used "virtual tach") the car would continue cranking as needed until it started.
With Virtual Tach, I found that often there would be customers coming back to me with similar issues to what you're describing when it's really cold out. The solution that I found was to run a tach wire. But, to answer your original question, yes, you can just keep pressing unlock in order to go through the options once you're in the menu item for the crank time.

Sounds like it is in valet mode.
How do you set car in valet mode ?
Turn the ignition on then off and press the valet button once with 10 seconds or so.

My car came with Avital 4x03 installed but no remotes. 3x lock to remote start was setup on the factory remote by the dealer. However the factory remote does not unlock the car after remote starting. I have to manually unlock the door with the key.
Now I added a remote fob but it won't unlock/lock the car but the parking light flashes. The Avital remote however starts the car if I press both the lock/ unlock button together. Start button does nothing. Any help would be appreciated. 😔
Whoever installed it likely did not connect the lock wiring.
@@DIYAUTOCARthanks for the reply. That makes sense now. Quick question. I have 3x lock to start with the OEM fob but once remote started I'm unable to unlock and have to use my key. I'm guessing it's the same issue.
Some cars you can't do that with the factory remote. For whatever reason some manufacturers disable the fob when the car is on. You should be able to buy a DEI lock harness and wire in the locks yourself though. Depending on the car it is only like 2 connections.
