If it seems like your valet/programming button is unresponsive, check to see if the red led is blinking. If it is, then the brain is locked by a bitwriter and you'll need to do the reset procedure to unlock it. Then you can perform the procedure outlined in the video (along with other procedures).

My car came with Avital 4x03 installed but no remotes. 3x lock to remote start was setup on the factory remote by the dealer. However the factory remote does not unlock the car after remote starting. I have to manually unlock the door with the key. Now I added a remote fob but it won't unlock/lock the car but the parking light flashes. The Avital remote however starts the car if I press both the lock/ unlock button together. Start button does nothing. Any help would be appreciated. 😔

Some cars you can't do that with the factory remote. For whatever reason some manufacturers disable the fob when the car is on. You should be able to buy a DEI lock harness and wire in the locks yourself though. Depending on the car it is only like 2 connections.

I have an old python alarm system. I have my keys turned on the ignition and presses then hold on the vallet button, but it never chirped. Could it be that my alarm brain is dead? I did however jumped my car not too long ago.

Unlikely. Some plugs might fit but a true plug and play is unlikely. If you get another directed electronics brand then the colors will be mostly standard which should make things easier.

For options such as crank time that aren't just on/off but cycle through different timings, do you press unlock to cycle through the choices? Or is unlock just on off only?
I have the Avital 5303 on my Civic 2010. Looking to up the crank time a little bit because it doesn't crank to start when really really cold. I wasn't 100% sure so I didn't want to press unlock to change the setting without knowing. I'm comfortable with menu/navigating just wasn't sure how to toggle.
Reputable local shop did the install. I'm assuming here but only when it is freezing cold like today, the default .6 sec crank time isn't enough for the starter to turn over. I have zero problems with the auto start, only when it is freezing cold. Even when I have to go out and use the key, no problem starting, it just needed to crank a little longer. That is more or less my scenario here.
If they connected tach(which by the sounds of it, they didn't connect it and just used "virtual tach") the car would continue cranking as needed until it started. With Virtual Tach, I found that often there would be customers coming back to me with similar issues to what you're describing when it's really cold out. The solution that I found was to run a tach wire. But, to answer your original question, yes, you can just keep pressing unlock in order to go through the options once you're in the menu item for the crank time.

If the starter kill is not hooked up then the car would still start with the key even if the alarm is going off.

Whoever installed it likely did not connect the lock wiring.

3100L is garbage. Is there any upgrade alarm system that would pretty much be plug n play by replacing the alarm module I have now ?

Did you install it or did you have a shop do it? You really shouldn't have to touch the crank time on a car like a Civic.

It depends where the main unit is mounted. You could always just extend it if you really wanted up in that area.

what if your key fob isnt working , then how do you turn it off, since everytime it auto locks and you manually open the door, alarm does go on.
You use the same programming button to override it. I believe that you hold it and then turn the key to the on position or something similar.
