John your personality and affable "just have fun with it" nature is needed in the competitive sphere! People like you and Wolfey grow the scene and open more opportunities and bigger budgets which turns into bigger prizes and possible scholarships and money for school for younger people who get into the competitive scene because of you, it's the circle of life lol.
I'd be super into some VGC/Singles content on PM7 Plus, and the occasional Collab with some of the more competitive driven channels. Your skills, chill, style(and editor's style) could (and currently do) mean a lot to the community.

Hearing that people actually thought that was hilarious. I didn't really know much about John's competitive history, but even I know he's better than Jack at Pokémon.

Man, I can't help but feel John got suuuper unlucky. Matched up against the one person he didn't wanna fight first, and then both of Wolfey's teams had answers to everything. I don't doubt John is a good player, but the teams he was given vs the teams he fought did not allow him to showcase that much 😅
He did have a pretty good showing vs joey in losers finals. So watch that, if you wanna see john play well

Sucks we don’t get any battling content in the John Michael Cup, I missed seeing John battle like this. Here’s hoping we get more events like this in the future.

Competitive Pokemon is hard for a competition series like the JMC. When I was up against a player of Wolfey's caliber he beat me easily, but then when up against everyone else in the tournament I was able to win my way to losers finals and almost took Joey out. Mikey's not a bad battler, but I would have such an unfair advantage in any battle against him that it would ruin a lot of the fun I think for him and viewers
@@PM7Plus Really? I was under the impression that Mikey knew more about Pokémon, and base stat totals etc., so how is it that you’re better than him at competitive battling?
@@BoraCM knowing about typing and BST does not equate to battle ability in competition
@@BoraCM experience is very important in competitive Pokemon. Knowledge can get you so far, experience can create strategies that can even bypass the poor base stats limitation.
22:40 I remember PChal doing his homework on that one. His chat gave him the biggest dumps on why he would pair you against a VGC Champion only for PChal to dump back on chat revealing your competitive history in singles.
And I gotta say, getting two teams of pure setup sweepers is crazy!! Usually (I feel that way, might be totally wrong, but would love to hear your opinion on it @PM7) you want to have at least one or two mons that either stall your opponent outright or force them to switch heavily while abusing the windows you get. These are allways kind of wanted in order to whiddle down the enemy team, while preserving yours.
With basically two teams of relatively bulky sweepers that sounds extraordinatly excrutiating as soon as someone applies a slight level of control. Like Toxic and Taunt as we have seen in game two.
Wolfey definitely pushed his advantage through his afformentionend strategies. Getting to know 2 or 3 of 6 mons on the opponents team helps so much more if you can keep one or more of your teammates hidden for a later stage in the game, when you have allready knocked out a Pokémon.
It's really hard though to get that particular advantage if your offensive team needs to adjust early into a slower more bulkier team I feel like.
Man I’ve never been into competitive battling but I found Wolfeys channel a couple weeks ago and now I’m so invested in competitive!!! And now that I found you’re a competitive battler!?!? Holy sheeeesh bring back the competitive videos, would love to see you play more! You’ve become one of my favorite poketubers!
I can't believe how unlucky Joey was in that battle. There were like 5 or 6 different things that if they hadn't happened, he would've won.
Also, I absolutely want to see a video of John running train through the losers bracket. Sounds like a good time.
Maybe a hot take, but i think competitive content is harder to attract new viewers, but maybe it could be entertaining now?
Anyway i guess you have more experience making content now, so it could be fun.

In fairness most of us found him from metronome battles and his insane old nuzlocke challenges. Basically the times where he can't show how good he is but his comedy is always there

Having watched John for years and also being a top level Ladder player myself, I was pleasantly surprised the first time I saw him battle. Don’t underestimate PM7, He is a beast in competitive!

Honestly I find it really funny that John is a good competitive battler. He's what I would call a smart dumb person. Very smart but has like one brain cell on a good day
What he does have, it's been applied towards this source. He's a great contrast towards Michael, who knows a whole lot but is more spread out and doesn't do much competitive.
I caught the PM7 stream for this tournament and it was so much fun to watch. John you did so great!

Hey pm7 👋🏻 I wanted to let you know I first started watching you back in Gen 7 as you were exiting competitive. I still remember you getting ROBBED by that Kyurem. I really enjoyed you videos and watched (well listened to) a bunch of old ones while I was working. Because of you I really got into competitive Pokémon at the end of Gen 7 and during the beginning of Gen 8 and even joined some tournaments during the pandemic. I really love the content you make and your my daughter’s favorite RUclipsr but I’d love some competitive content to come back maybe once in a while, if you ever got the itch. ❤
I love how the real ones know that PM7 is a competitive problem. Its like an anime where the goofy “side character” is actually the most powerful and can wreck the world on Saitama levels of destruction while making bad dad jokes lol
I started watch PM7 many many many moons ago when it was VGC so those “fans” bashing him doesn't understand this man’s competitive 30d chess brain.
I hope one day PM7 does eventually bring VGC back even if it's just random videos every once in a while I will watch that.

It still feels sad that this kind of tournament missed players like Freezai, Emvee, Blunder, or Blimax, as competition with those would be even more fierce. But it was a fun video to watch anyway.

Ya know John, I know you have mixed feelings about comp, and getting back into it, but honestly I think you could be a great creator for doing comp stuff. You've proven your worth several times and it's clear your even on the level of Joey to some degree, and it would be nice to get your perspective of things vs Joey or even Wolfeys standard perspective.

NGL it's both easy to see John being such a great battler but also hard to see it only because he feels like he could be your neighbor and it's hard to think of your neighbor as being such a big name. IDK if that made any sense......

Challenging but interesting. You really gotta think on your feet and plan strategies mid-battle with them.
Bit of an unpopular opinion apparently, but I wish you did a bit more competitive content, since you are good at it and I enjoy watching it on occasion. When I found your channel I didn't even know you were that good at battling, and it surprised me in a good way when I watched Wolfey's video. (Side note, I subbed to the second channel yesterday, and then found 4 shinies)

1st day building teams 2nd started playing national dex
But in the 2nd day i tried random battles before building a new team for national dex my first experience was destroying the enemy with scorvillain by either chipping away with leech seed then protect and sub or flamethrower one shot
