  • Installing a large laundry tub sink in a basement that requires an upflow pump to get it up to the drain level. We are using this for wine-production and cleaning bottles, but the possibilities are endless for this type of installation!

Does this need a vent? Did you get it inspected? What code version does this adhere to? Just trying to figure out what a similar project in my area would require.

Hello! In this case there is a vent-stack right close to where the line runs up. A vent would be a good idea in most any other situation, but with this tying into the main drain right next to the main vent stack its not really a big deal. I quite often will use aerator vents (or air-admittance valves), but being that this is an up flow system the entire stack is all part of the trap and its kind of impossible to add one. (vents happen between the trap and the main drain system) I did not get it inspected, nor are there any required in my area. I would encourage you to check with your local permit-office. They can tell you what is required for your town. Thank you for your questions!

I don't recall threatening any pipes. But I'm sure they probably deserved it! Or using pipe dope for that matter. Are you sure you wren't confusing that with the glue I was using?
