I don't think Saul outright cheated. I don't think he and Auggie are together anymore (even at the beginning). That's what their dynamic suggests. But it seems like there's a chance they could get back together. And Saul was really dumb to mess that up.
If you look closely in episode 3 when Felix comes into Evans' office, you'll see a framed photo of little Vera behind Evans's desk. This suggests that he is behind Vera being Follower, since it's his organization that created the game and built the headsets from the San-Ti spec.
I saw the same flaw with this plan and have been really confused. Sure, even if they were able bring Will back, I think it's very very unlikely that he would be able to spy and send information back to them. He would likely be a prisoner, he wouldn't have access to communication. Like you said, the risk far outweighs the reward. I'm sure something will come of the mission for the story's sake, but the reasoning for beginning it doesn't add up. Side note: Liam Cunningham is an amazing actor and his character, as much of an asshole as he is, has become my favorite. I've only really seen him in GoT so it's awesome to see him play this character. Great choice for the role.
I think the importance and persistence of sending a "probe" is the need for any intel on them. Wade is willing to risk it all because with the information they have on them they may as well just surrender since any strategy they come up with could be futile.
I think it's a desperation move by Wade. His idea is that The Santi will not be able to avoid revealing their scientific knowledge to Will and that he will find a way to send that information back to Earth. It may the only way human knowledge can now advance because of the sophons interfering with terrestrial research.
The game is not made by the San-Ti. Its made by the evans cult, with all the infos they got on the alien planet. Only Sophon is directly from the San-Ti. The San-Ti could not have made the game, them not understanding metaphors.
I think you missed a little bit of point here!! It's about the nature of how Santi communicate with each other, they can literally see the thoughts as if their heads were transparent and they see some sort of pattern generated by brain in order to communicate with each other, which is in a way bit more efficient than how humans communicate by talking. That is the reason they cannot lie or hide their thoughts and the very same reason they don't understand the concept of lying. In the Little Riding Hood Story, Evans asks them about how they communicate. Santi did tell him as soon as thought occurs they know the what is the message being conveyed!!! That is why human brain is really important to the Santi, because they cannot see human thought. They will never be able to judge whether humans are malicious or deceptive and will always be in a 50-50 dillema about what humans are thinking to make a move!! 😂😂
Hey James you missed the most important part of the episode the joke told by Ye to Saul. Was hoping for more insight into this as I assume she’s giving him some insight into the Santi and in a ‘joke’ form so they wouldn’t understand. Or maybe they did and that’s why they sent Tatiana to kill her?!
im going to be discussing it in the episode 8 video - at first the joke kinda just felt straight to the point but then after, I realized it had a deeper meaning. don't worry I will discuss it, there's just so much with this show lol

I dunno why Jin didn't realise that Will had gifted her the star. Presumably she'd forgotten that he'd suddenly become very rich. I suppose next episode Wade will persude Jin to submit to cold sleep so she can talk to Will when he's revived.

The Santi would thrive on planet Earth. They are a much more survivable species than we are. I think it was at least 203 times they have been completely wiped out, over billions of years. Yet they are still in existence now. We have never been wiped out. We have zero experience in completely restarting our species.
Ye is absolutely dead, she’s not coming back in the future. Because the santi realizes that she knew something that they feared so that she couldn’t be alive (spoiler : dark forest theory)

The Santi are 400 years away so they aren’t here to give us gifts but they have been giving Evan’s cult plans and details like the instant communication box. Remember we can do anything they can do or even surpass them with enough time. That’s why the only alien objects that are on earth or the 2 Sofan’s and why they are trying to disrupt our science and technology advancements. That’s how I understood it anyways 🤷♂️
yeah I worded it wrong in the video, I meant with the code and blueprints they gave them for the game - if a "child" was supposed to be added, and their sophon spying on ye and mike saw the kid (vera) - the game code could have had instructions that overlapped with their real life. like maybe the main girl in the game was a person in the "cult" too
