Just finished ep1 What a GREAT start. I’m so intrigued. I actually bought and own the original book but never got around to reading it lol. Now I feel like I must
I'm so tempted to read the book... but I started the Dune collection after seeing the second movie.
@@Lightthebeam1980 tons of dune books to get through. I can’t blame you. The dune hype is very real right now lol I might get into those myself after reading the newest thrawn trilogy from Star Wars.
If you like the show, you will like the books 10x more. I like the series, but a lot of the coolest aspects of the book series are lost in the series.
@@YelløwKing666 Piece of advice from someone who has read them all: Only the first one is worth it. (Talking about Dune. The 3 body trilogy is all good. The second one being the worst and the 3rd one the best)
@@jal051 thanks for the heads up
You could easily be the marketing department for this show. I had never heard of it before, but after your video it is now must see
Netflix is terrible at advertising their shows honestly...
Don't get your hopes up.
Exactly! I was hyped initially, then that last trailer didn't do anything for me. Came here for James analysis, and now I'm hooked, Watched Epi 1 and show has next level crazy stuff going on. And I just came from watching Silo on Apple TV and they also did a great job of wanting you to see what happens next!
Same here. Loved episode 1. Hooked.
@@bsquinney Silo was so good 👍
Thanks bro. I am loving the show so far. I'd never heard of it.
this deserves so many more views holy crap, great vid
i watched the first episode without subtitles and i was a little bit lost but it captivated me so much i had to look for the in depth explanation . Great job with providing the answers and clearing everything up for me .
Something about being confused the whole time makes me fall in love w a show like this
I'm obsessed with this show. Wanted to understand episode 4 better where the ship went vrrrr and found your account. Loving your videos
thank u !
I fear Netflix will see how this is a goose with golden eggs and think up new and far less interesting seasons instead of staying true to the books and end it when it's supposed to end.
Instead, they should focus on making a three season series out of Children of Time.
I really hope they'll honour the books ... who knows. This doesn't _have_ to go the way of GoT.
I read the books and I like the adaptation. And II listen to hem at night on audible.
this is awesome! best videos so far on the show! and that from a non reader!
Personally I really enjoyed the 30 episodes made in 2021 and was a bit worried about the way this series was only 8 episodes but I found it enjoyable in it's own right.
The trilogy is actually called "Remenberance of Earth's past". 'The three-body problem" is the title of the first book in the series (followed by "The dark forest" and "Death's end").
Thank you very much for your explanation and commentary. I struggle with Mom ADHD... I will now try to watch without distractions... I missed a bunch. 😊
of course!
I just have regular ADHD so I can just say that it's one of the few shows I can watch without rewinding too much to keep up. In fairness it's a wild ride 😅
Ive seen a few episodes, I found episode 1 had a bit too much going on but I pushed through and now im loving it.
I felt the same about GOT episode 1. I was overwhelmed with all the people and places, having never read the books(at that time).
Best recap ive seen good works because i missed a few things on the first episode
Thanks for the Review of every episode. Happy to watch every episode and then your analysis
I'm on episode 2 and all I want to do is go home and finish this show! Its SO GOOD thus far!
wow james dwayne doesn’t miss, gonna watch the show rn!
You personally think this could maybe be on par with Sopranos? you are fuggin high mate.
That show wasn't that great, mate
Three body problem originally described a mathematical paradox.
It still does! That paradox is actually a very important factor in the story, and the reason everything kicks off. The impossibility of predicting 3 large bodies in motion.
It still does it's a calculus paradox involving the prediction of the movements of a 3 star(bodies) system
Still does. It can’t be solved.
Not a "paradox". N-Body Systems are chaotic, but still deterministic. There are solutions, it's just that the number of unknown variables and possible outcomes are astronomically huge it's difficult to arrive at very accurate predictions. It depends on the mass and velocity of the bodies in question. One approximate solution is based on the "Restricted Body Problem". That's when one body is very light and can't really disrupt the other two bodies that much.
Noticed a lot of parallels in those opening scenes.
Thank you for the explanation! I was hooked, but also very fking confused 🤣
I have to see this show now
I have read Books 1 & 2. Chinese parts as pretty much as per the book so far. The modern charachters are pretty much new or adaptions of various ones from the books. Interesting to see where this story goes as this is referenced as an 'adaption'. The main story in the books is called hard-science fiction, as a lot of sciennce and physics theory is used, but doesn't distract. 3 Body will be explained later in the series (no spoilers) but it can also be an allegory as James mentioned in his video.
So in the book it’s all Chinese characters? So if I get the English version, they will have Chinese names?
I found the second one a little uninteresting, but the 3rd one has one of the best and most innovative concepts I've read in a scifi novel. And I read a lot of them. Go for it.
WHEN SAUL DECODES THE WINKING OF UNVERSE IT IS THE EXACT NUMBERS THAT SHE WAS SEEING
That opening scene took a LOT of balls. A ton of effort has gone into memory-holing the cultural revolution. Boomers were chanting “Marx, Mao, Marcuse!” on college campuses in the United States. We’re not supposed to know that, and that they didn’t abandon the ideology.
The beginning of the book is pretty slow, but the story in the cultural revolution is what keeps you engaged. It was a must to include. I don't think it takes that much balls, tho. It's just history.
@jal051 just forcing us to say there are multiple genders "or else" and is litterally the same as abandoning science and its just about to get worse
Nobel prize in physics, not peace.
ik, it was a slip up
@jamesdewayne don't worry. We all do it. The peace prize is really famous. Most people know about the oeace prize. Few know that there are all sorts of prizes for other fields. Physics, chemistry, economics, and even for literature.
I was really confused on episode 1 but thanks for this. I understand it now. Good explanation. 👍👍
Thanks james you the man for breaking this down for me I really wanted to understand!
🙌
Putting me on game again James Dewayne
Succinct, to the point and accurate. Well done. So Im not the only one affected by that first ep
Thank you! Your videos make understanding the show so much easier
You aren't supposed to understand most of it yet ^_^'
Having watched the Tencent version of Three Body Problem and the books trilogy, I came into the Netflix version with strong bias, but so far I really like the changes they made to various plot lines and characters, while keeping the main plot focus. It makes the show more approachable and do a better job to flesh out the characters.
Without spoiling any episodes, the 3 body problem has to do with astrophysics and how cosmic bodies interact with eachother through gravitational forces
Cool, is this an episode 1 thing?
@rollind2456 Nope. It's Isaac Newton!
As soon as I seen it had something to do with the particle accelerator all the conspiracy theories about how not to mess with those things came to kind and I knew this was gonna be good 💯😂
it's not nobel peace price... it's the nobel prize in physics. Peace is just one of the categories... peace, literature, economics, medicine, physics etc... so NOT NOBEL PEACE PRIZE.. IT'S NOBEL PHYSICS PRIZE
this changes EVERYTHING !!🤯🤯
I love sarcasm but information should be accurate@@jamesdewayne
@@KAIZORIANEMPIRE lol im just playing, I'm just used to the term "Nobel peace prize" and misspoke - hopefully if other's notice they will see your comment 🤝
I want to watch 3 Body Problem! On fire 🔥
New sub here hopefully you go to each episode
Is q great episode but people will definitely could get lost because all of the information going and back and forth. I’m watching episode 2 now
yep thats the plan! making a video for each episode, episode 2 explained will be coming out tomorrow! thanks for joining :)
Well done. Thank you. I’ll be viewing the remaining recaps.
thank YOU☝
@@jamesdewayneplease help me i am trying to find soundtrack name of mysterious countdown when it appears in ep1🙏 i am unable to find it
The Three Body Problem is explained later on, keep watching
It's not Mongolia. It's Inner Mongolia, a large region in the north of China. Apart from that, thanks for the vid. Greetings from Germany.
*The Oxford Five* sounds like the name of a spy ring.
A little joke from Clarence (and the show).
Read the books.. :) you will see how amazing this series can be.
My trilogy books arrive today. I finished the show yesterday. Mind blown...8 times. 8 episodes.
A BOOK COULD NEVER PAINT A REAL PICTURE. THAT’S WHY CAMERAS EXIST.
you have not read much then @@jonsnow300
cool trivia: the series was exec produced by many including Brad Pitt, Rian Johnson and Rosamund Pike
Yeah, i thought i was seeing things when i was watching the credits 😂
If only this much effort went into game of thrones last season LMAOOO
Omg I’ve watch the first 3 episodes 5 times with distractions and was so lost .. watching now .. and listening to you im understanding and watching without distractions because they are at school 😂😂😂
I also watched the whole season in one night. Incredible show
This show is fantastic, I’m only 2 episodes in and already completely invested. Fantastic storytelling
Have you watched the series “From” yet, another great dhow although very different from this one it’s also very interesting and has you asking a tonbof questions
I’d say 3 Body Problem is better of course thus far but From is still well worth the watch
Also, if physicists looked like Augie, I would’ve studied way harder in school
@@bigrick3267 she's literally a 10 🤧
yup, easily@@jamesdewayne
3 BODY PROBLEM Very Good
You can actually read Ye Wenjies name with caption "mother" above it on the cops bulletin board before the picture scene
Newton’s “N-body” problem.. 🤭😵💫 beautifully written show, can’t wait to watch the rest!!
It’s good. But wouldn’t compare it to the Sopranos 😂
hey sometimes I exaggerate 🤣
Idk if it was as good The Last OF Us but it was on that level for sure
3 body problem is very much a physic problem, no metephor in it
What I don't understand is, how is the timeline working? are we watching past , present or future? why chinese actors don't have mobile phones despite working on a dish antenna ?
Same - it's up there in quality I like it as much as Loki
I came here for ideas for where to hide the 3 bodies I have in my garage 😅
( ⚆ _ ⚆ ')
Not Mongolia. Inner mongolia, which is in China
Going to try to get caught up.
From a reader of book one, they did a sensible job of splitting the main scientist’s role into several characters. Better for TV. More potential character possibilities. Do wish the sky blinking had been a little more defined as the buildup to it in the book was freaky, very personal and more character driven. Do understand why they made it simpler but missed a lot of the insanity factor.
TBH, I think they did it so the story could be relocated to occident. The couldn't relocate the cultural revolution to the west, so they kept that in China.
New sub.
🙏🙏
This show is a amazing
Maybe someone in the comments can help me figure something out. When Ye was in prison and the other lady threw a bucket of water over her, what did she have to sign? Something against her father, but I'm not completely sure. And did she sign it in the end? Can someone explain this to me? Thanks!
looks a lot like Life is Strange
did you notice how big is this hand?? 6:16 It's not her hand clearly
holy shit you're right. it looks so off lol
Attention all ... Please do yourself a favor and READ THE BOOKS that this tv/media show is based upon.
Isn’t there a Chinese version of the show ?
I think it's on Prime.
please help me i am trying to find soundtrack name of countdown when it appears in ep1 the mysterious timer appears
at the bar towards the beginning ? its either "take on me" by a-ha or "piano man" by Billy Joel, other than that it would be an original score from the show
@@jamesdewayne no that's not what i am finding, the countdown timer soundtrack
A death countdown soundtrack its okay there's no way its available
So far Am liking the book more 😅
+1000 for boss and ceo
Idk man. The OG Chinese adaptation seems a *lot* better. It is more science-heavy than the Netflix one.
I have a problem with the fundamental idea at the core of the books. The "Dark Forest" thesis.
I think it's wrong. To explain why is to go into spoilers so I'll refrain from further musings.
I agree with you on Wong's Detective Clarence. He's the most engaging on-screen presence.
The Three Body Problem is a well known physic/mathematic problem. But you know this by now 🤣 Kids, don't skip science classes
Elite woker😂
wow
Action packed?
Gonzalez is just an awful actress .... my god
last time ABC 西游记,this time ABC 三体,呵呵
Interesting take from someone who has clearly never touched the books and doesn’t know anything in it (even down to the title). Will be great to your theories from that perspective.
Mind Body and Spirit
Ideas, culture, habits and customs. I bit redundant lol.
I'm OK with gender, racial swap, and name changes. I just can't see past through the swollen lips of the main character.
🤨
The main character Ye Wenjie is exactly the same as she is in the book.
All PREDICTIVE PROGRAMMING.
Can you see it.
Cause and Effect. Not "creation".
i suck at dreaming
There will be an alien 👽 invasion on October 22nd, 2033. 😱😱😱
Be prepared earth 🌎! #alieninvasion #prepareforearth #October22nd2033
explain a shit drama that's really hilarious
Lizard people 😮
4/10. Poor casting, writing and directing. Intriguing, but not a good first episode.
Looks fire gonna check it out!!!!!
Bro come on the Noble Peace Prize is for peacemakers, world leaders and shit. The first murder victim was gonna win the next Noble Prize in Physics not Peace. They give Noble Prizes for pretty much every discipline
I know, I said peace by accident because im used to the term "Nobel peace prize" even tho in my script it said psychics - just a little brain fart lol
