Okay so they should make a second movie. Use the same cast at the age they are now and claim the movie takes place 3 months after the original. Goku has a teen pregnancy, and Gohan is born, skip straight to Vegeta showing up, have him turn into an ape, then have him call down when Bulma shows up, and then she dies by getting head shot by Frieza. Then Vegeta cuts a lock of dead bulmas hair and he turns into the blue hair super Saiyan. Then Vegeta tosses Goku some of dead bulmas hair and he also goes blue hair super Saiyan. They fight Frieza, and Frieza suddenly turns into Maijin boo (voices by Idris Elba), then a random character (who will be revealed to be Krillin in the credits only, never by name) will show up and show Goku and Vegeta how to do fusion and do a spirit ball. The movie ends with Gogeta getting warped into a multiverse (think Spider-Man across the spider verse), where hundreds of gokus and Vegeta's are, and the third movie will be 3 months later again and Gohan is an adult and we have the Cell saga happen. Gohan needs to be miscast and be played by Lady Gaga or Margot Robbie

Typical Hollywood to make the plot as shallow as getting the girl. This is why anime is taking over: There are no shallow plots. Goku isn't super strong because he is from another planet (like some Marvel super heroes), but because he trains really hard and his body adapts 100 times faster than humans'. Goku isn't a good guy because he has a crush on a girl, or was raised by good parents, or whatever stupid trope Hollywood is trying to sell, but because he wants nothing but to become stronger. He doesn't want to become the strongest, nor does he want to show off his strength. In fact, he is always looking for people stronger than him to fight. He gets his arse handed to him so many times and loves every moment of it - unlike marvel characters who get depressed because the lost a fight. Goku (and most anime characters) are very relatable. What I love most about Goku is that he doesn't want to lose, but is always looking for someone stronger who will, most likely, kick his ass. This is in order to become stronger and better. The movie Goku has none of these characteristic. The movie Goku is just another crybaby victim, like every other Hollywood protagonist.

In some ways, the locker technique looked more powerful than whatever he was trying to do in the lamp room to impress ChiChi. Also, how can someone with last words be killed by strangulation? Why didn't Goku care about his grandpa being dead? Why just one wish? Why all the interpretive dancing, instead of fighting? It needed more ribbons. Why couldn't they have made a sequel? It would have been so satisfying to roast that one into oblivion, too. It might have given some additional closure, since the prospective franchise didn't quite seem dead, in the first chapter.
I walked out of 4 movies in my life with refunds*, Asterix & Obelix 2, Austin Powers 3, Taxi's remake (no refunds) and this abortion, I had no internet and seen no trailer, went in blind The American remake of Taxi would have been one but I didn't pay the ticket
I watched this in theatre so I got the full exp for how horrendous this was. Still, I can't resist the urge to relive the trauma every few yrs. Now I can just watch this and don't have to. Thank you 🙏
Oh look, it's the couple from Shameless. lol There are a few things I liked from DBE: - Goku's gi - The Japanese dub (it sounds pretty damn good, but the Japanese are known for doing high caliber voiceovers anyway) - The PSP game (it's a reskin of Shin Budokai though it's still a lot of fun) - Some of the cast actors/actress were good picks, just poorly used. Tony Jaa as Goku would have been far superior. - Japanese theme song - Actress that played Chichi was dang beautiful P.S. No, it wasn't Masako Nozawa who voiced Goku, it was some other popular VA (male) and the best part of him was screaming KAME-HAME-HA!! Also, the Japanese DVD which the JPN dub is available contains English subs, that's how I watched it subbed. But yeah, the movie sucks can't defend that.
The closest thing we have to a good live action Dragon Ball z movie is Man of steel. And that's because the plot of that movie is basically the saiyan saga and the fights in that movie look like dragon ball z fights, right down to fact that superman screams a lot to get stronger.

I went to see that movie in theaters while dressed as Goku. The Dragonball franchise probably wouldn't be as popular as it is today if wasn't for that movie's failure. I personally want another Live action theatrical Dragonball movie be made as long as it's done right and done by the right people who would treat it with love and care regardless of the naysayers especially some of big RUclipsrs in the Dragonball community who don't want another one. However, if an official Live action Dragonball episodic series were to someday happen' that would suffice. I believe in my heart that a Live action Dragonball adaptation film or at least an episodic series can be done right especially with today's advanced technology. Take Dragonball Z Light Of Hope for example, it's a pretty awesome live action Dragonball Z fan film on RUclips without having a Hollywood level budget.

I heard that the producers didn’t listen to Akira Toriyama and pushed him away. They didn’t know anything about the Anime or characters. The director tried to work with the producers but they didn’t listen. The producers knew nothing about Dragon Ball

I absolutely hate how Goku was portrayed in this movie after watching the anime. Goku in the anime might have been naive and a little bit unaware of the world as a whole (not really telling the difference between boys and girls without doing you know what) but he had a good heart and soul that was willing to push himself to become the warrior that could save his friendship (ie training with King Kai to stop the Saiyans or using the hyperbolic time chamber with Gohan to become more powerful for when they eventually fight Cell.) But here Goku just became every early 2000s male protagonist, he just wanted to save the world to get the girl and get popular. That’s not Goku. (Sorry for the tangent, I just hate this movie)

I actually like Dragonball Evolution. I know it's a terrible adaptation and does everything wrong but for some reason I have fun with it. I do like things about it. Goku's gi was awesome and the Kamehameha scene was cool. It's just a dumb movie I have fun with.

I only watch it because I was a senior in HS when this came out. So it’s just a nostalgic comfort movie.

Cell is the president of the US who hires Dr. Gero to produce weapons of mass destructions (the androids of course) and Gero accidentaly turns the president into the evil biologic android Cell, who has the cells of Piccolo and Goku. Goku, Vegeta, Yamcha, Gohan, and Master Roshi fight the androids 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18. Cell turns perfect and becomes pals with 13, who went super. But then Goku tells him that he isn't strong enough, and Cell, obsesed with becoming stronger and far from perfect, absorbs Super 13, and because of all the power 13 had, Cell ends up exploding and dies
And the fourth movie is about Beerus who runs for president after Cell (played by Mr Trump) with his attendant Mr Joe Biden

I remember hearing that this movie was being made and getting all kinds of hyped and then i seen a trailer and wanted to pour bleach in my eyes to un see it and try anything to remove it from my memory
So, a couple corrections:
1. Dragonball Goku was very much vengeful. He’s playful too, but he doesn’t fully develop his merciful personality until he meets Android 8.
2. ChiChi means tits in Japanese. ChiChi’s name is literally boobies. It’s not a play on milk. At least not the way you think it is.

It's as if they made a Dragon Ball movie without the rights to one since everything is completely opposite of how it should be!
Real Goku is almost an asexual being. His default way of life is thinking of nothing but martial arts and spending his entire life in training and its application in combat!! Then we have DB Evolution Goku who goes to school, falls in love and imagines things about girls ... dude Goku never had hormonal teenager phase like that!! He's not gay, but he's also not really into girls either!!! There are two things he loves the most in this world: martial arts and food!! He married his wife by *ACCIDENT!!!* _(he thought she offered him a new type of food called marriage and said yes)_ But our director here did like almost *_ZERO_* research and came up with this abomination!!!
The only good thing to come from this movie is modern Dragon Ball for without this abomination, Toriyama-sense likely would have never made Super.
I heard that the producers didn’t listen to Akira Toriyama and pushed him away. They didn’t know anything about the Anime or characters. The director tried to work with the producers but they didn’t listen. The producers knew nothing about Dragon Ball
That is why toriyama went and brought dragon Ball back by starting with Battle of gods as he hated the live action movie and did not want that to be the last dragon ball fans saw
Not listening is an understatement they tried Americaning this movie with plot and main character...result....it was a hot mess still getting well deserved criticism to this day lol

Dragon Bal Evolution was like the best db live action of all time.
I absolutely hate how Goku was portrayed in this movie after watching the anime. Goku in the anime might have been naive and a little bit unaware of the world as a whole (not really telling the difference between boys and girls without doing you know what) but he had a good heart and soul that was willing to push himself to become the warrior that could save his friendship (ie training with King Kai to stop the Saiyans or using the hyperbolic time chamber with Gohan to become more powerful for when they eventually fight Cell.) But here Goku just became every early 2000s male protagonist, he just wanted to save the world to get the girl and get popular. That’s not Goku.
(Sorry for the tangent, I just hate this movie)

Technically, there is nothing wrong with it as it's a reskin of Shin Budokai with DBE content so gameplay-wise it's awesome. I didn't care for the story so I just skipped to the battle stages.

I actually like Dragonball Evolution. I know it's a terrible adaptation and does everything wrong but for some reason I have fun with it. I do like things about it. Goku's gi was awesome and the Kamehameha scene was cool. It's just a dumb movie I have fun with.
