    Here's is something very important I want you to know.
    Our culture (modernized culture, mostly Western culture) trains us to be disconnected from our bodies. Our culture trains us to view our bodies as external objects as an outside observer. Our culture trains to look to outside experts to fix us, fix our body issues but doesn't train us to connect with our own body, own sensory experience, "listen" to our body, feel our body, and learn from our inner intelligence.
    This is cultural influence on our beliefs influences our behaviors. Many people believe that they need more information in order to overcome their limitations and challenges. Many believe that they just haven't found the "right" information yet so keep seeking outside for their answer. Reality is that we have too much information, and we are so disconnected from our own body and experience.
    It's easy to view my videos as another exercise video, and approach it from that mindset, that is to approach your body like fixing mechanical parts that lie external to you. Then, you are really missing the point. This is not a conventional way of thinking in Western culture, so it's easy to let my message pass through you. But, don't worry! I am persistent and will repeat over and over and over:) I'm not here to teach you exercises to correct your body structures. I am here to help you connect with YOUR BODY, YOUR SENSORY EXPERIENCE, learn from YOUR BODY, and create a new way of movng, using yourself, being in your body!
    This paradigm shift is necessary for transformation, changes in your nervous system, movement patterns, quality of life because your body and mind are one! I really encourage you to keep this message in your mind as you watch my videos and practice movement!

      Such a beautiful distinction. We live in a society that is so obsessed with doing everything and doing it perfectly. We always have to doubt ourselves and our ability to do something. Being so obsessed with this makes listening to the soul, body, and even mind impossible. It's the same reason awareness and eastern traditions are making a boom in the western world. Our entire healthcare system is built on creating band-aids for issues as opposed to addressing _why there is even an issue to begin with._ Thanks for your help! I love these awareness based exercises. Super helpful in general but especially at the piano where you've unintentionally taught me to be more aware of when my technique fails me and to not ignore the pain that arises subsequently.

    Life changing!! Over the years I have been to an osteopath, physio, a massage therapist, yoga and anything else that I could think of with very minimal long term results. Been doing this a few weeks once a day or more if I am stressed and it’s so much better. Amazing, thank you. We carry so much stress and tension in our shoulders and it’s only now that I realise that my posture has not been normal for years due to stress and I had no idea of the physical impacts it was having on my body until I done this.

    I was very impressed with this technique. It's basically deprogramming your neurology to stand down, as habits are repeated from our unconscious minds, that's why we're not aware of them & reprogramming to create a healthier conscious habit, which in turn becomes second nature. It's a very clever self awareness, we really can heal ourselves. Thank you for pointing this out, people like you are true healers x

    • @therealfitshorty
      @therealfitshorty 3 года назад

      @@saraswatiks7571If it's uncomfortable/tight,/difficult to move, it's most likely a muscle strain, not a sprain (which is a tear that happens to the connective tissue between bone). Try doing GENTLE range of motion with your neck, turning it side to side and up and down in ranges that are tolerable- nothing over a 3/10 on a pain scale (10 being most painful). Do that for a few days and the stiffness should decrease. You'll need to be aware of the pillow you use to sleep on and make sure your neck isn't bending in weird positions while you sleep.

    I'd like to add that I've noticed with myself and my clients that the areas that we feel chronic pain and tightness are the areas that are having to hold position in an elongated position. For a common holding pattern in those that carry a lot of stress in their shoulders and neck and/or those that sit at desks for long periods an example would be the muscles that have the action of pulling the scapula down and towards the spine (Rhomboids, mid/lower traps). The areas that are actually shortened and winning "the tug of war" are typically not the ones that hurt. An example that would be antagonist to the muscles just mentioned might be muscles that, when shortened, protect our anterior neck and chest such as pec major (and minor), anterior deltoids etc. This would also just as importantly include the corresponding fascia. This is a very technical and anatomical way of looking at it but it's helped me understand what type of work should be done where for each client. I love your videos Taro:)

    Whoa, I have chronic pain issues and I do ‘guarding’ (involuntary) all the time........ that only leads to newer areas that hurt. I did this ‘neck/shoulder’ tensing for many years, when working very long shifts as a hospital maternal-child nurse. I was told to be sure to ‘lower those shoulders’ often when working. Yet this simple technique (that you demonstrated) works even better!! THANKS‼️

    I injured my neck when I was about 10 years old (23 now) and I have had issues with my neck and shoulders since then. I have tried everything, massage therapy helps best but is expensive and it has to be habitual. I really appreciate this exercise, it doesn't resolve the issues or pain, but it definitely helps. It's so nice to have something I can do that actually makes a difference. This and posture strengthening exercises are amazing, thank you for sharing!

    Hey Taro. You are a true savior. I have been doing stretches, excercises, working out everything. I build muscle etc. But the pain never left. 5 Years of suffering, gone in 30 seconds. Just wow. No one could help me. Just yesterday I accepted the pain as a reminder to never give up, but now you helped me not only being aware of it, but being in control, when necessary. Im happy that I was able to accept the pain before finding you. Now its always a happy reminder to have a nice excercise with you! Life changing advice you are giving here. I live in a european country, and with all the money people spend, this relief could have never been found. We are master of our minds. I thank you, and I will share this knowledge!

    • @k3y289
      @k3y289 3 года назад +1

      @@VB-bo5kz The only way I can explain it to you is, that Pain is not always Pain. My Pain stemmed from unconcious fears that I carried my whole life. Especiall the fear of death. So this year i conquered all my fears, and then a few days ago I found taro. So my case is special. I already had a lot of awareness of my self. After hundreds or maybe thousands of hours of writing, meditating, thinking, conquering fears this year. I was able to connect truly to my body because my mind was free. So just following Taro blindly is not only the key. If you have issues letting go of the pain, you should try meditating and writing down your feelings as well. But yeah. Taro explained this in another video. Tension is just a dysfunction of the brain. By being in bad positions all the time your bain assumes those position as normal and therefore you get these tight muscles. Taro gives us the key to our body by showing us und how to RELAX. So just by relaxing I was able to let go of the stress. Follow his videos slowly, take NOTICE of your body and see the change. :) By not believing in healing, you surpress your own self healing power. Only you know how you feel and only you can change it. Good luck and tons of love from a stranger. :)

Also tried various massages and stretching exercises. This is by far the most effective! I only did 5 reps on the affected shoulder. Before performing this, moving down and losing the effort of the affected limb seemed like needles poking my neck and shoulder. After trying at least 5 reps after watching this, the pain reduced to at least half of it! Thank you for this. 🤗

No doctor has been able to help me yet, no therapist or chiropractor. Its all temporary for an hour or so before it slips back into the painful positions. Same here. I’m in a national forest, had no cell phones or even service here, and yet yesterday while out in nature I told a friend that my chiropractor said not to stretch my neck. Now this morning THIS shows up in my feed. Highly disturbing. It’s the satellites, people. They’re creating a literal matrix of surveillance over the planet & there’s nothing secret about it. In fact, everyone thinks Elon Musk is a freaking hero🙄. And we wonder why our planet is dying. Nope, it’s not ALL about fossil fuels. I seriously question if the medical mafia implanted metal in my neck (cervical fusion, which broke btw) as a rod because the right holistic care would’ve negated that debilitating surgery. A few years ago I’d have thought that paranoid. These days it’s too obvious the NWO regime is trying to make us into borgs. Eyes open, people!

    For the last 17 years, I have slowly succumbed to being crushed under a small Morris Minor Van in 2005this had led to a walking posture while almost dragging my nose on the ground.
    I have had all the nerves from L3 to my hips burnt our over 5 trips to the hospital some of which were to repeat removal of the nerves as they only lasted a year or so also what has happened is I have 2 imploded {moved into the spinal column } discs and 2 that are exploded {protuted} .
    And sitting means I need to lean forward and look up at the TV or Computer as I no longer work.
    This means I have considerable neck pain on the Right-hand side by late at night .
    I just did your exercise, and it was great for a time, so I will continue to do both sides and subscribe.
