I'm not a gamer at all! I discovered this film and I must admit that I had a great time and as I have no nostalgia for Mario Bros I had a great time watching this film, laughing throughout! I also think that this film is improved in Vf on certain actors such as Dennis Hoper or John Leguizamo. I find the ridiculous side to be well accepted and that it is a film as crazy as The Mask, the adventures of Barron de Munchhausen, last action hero or even Who Framed Roger Rabbit. I can understand those who didn't like it because they were expecting a faithful adaptation as they did this year but as I have no nostalgic connection to Mario Bros I loved this adaptation made on acid . we look at this film like an Asterix and Obelix mission Cleopatra. In the sense that it is an adaptation of its time and I preferred to see this kind of adaptation in total freewheeling than the all-read thing of 2023. at least this version has prestigious stars in its casting and special effects like Hook or Total Recall which are done in the old 80s style. I had a blast like when I rewatch Jumanji with Robin Williams or The Mask with Jim Carrey.
The original camera negative for the Theatrical Cut of the film was scanned in 16bit Color 4K and restored in 4K by Pathe and provided to Umbrella for this release. The trailer itself is a scan of an actual release trailer commissioned previously that our team cleaned up to remove dirt and damage and to stabilize the footage.
The trailer and film were released in the US by Hollywood Pictures. This disc release is from Umbrella Entertainment in Australia - from a restoration by Pathé who holds international rights. As far as I am aware there are no plans to stream this particular master in the US at this time.
Lol I got the good 2023 mario movie at home 😂. But it is nice to see this unintentionally funny movie be preserved. Hope they include the comic books too.

We did the cleanup of the workprint VHS and the post production on all the deleted scenes which feature a mix of sources including theatrical footage, workprint footage, and footage contained within the theatrical trailers that is an identical match to the workprint but not contained in the theatrical. We also completed the closing titles for several of the bonus features. The painstaking dustbuting of the footage for the deleted scenes was color graded in HDR10 and is being provided at 4K resolution to Umbrella along with an all new 5.1 post-production mix we completed using music recorded for and cleared for the original film. (The workprint uses music from other sources outside the Mario film.)
