    This is why I recommend Tesla brand cars when people ask about electric vehicles. Most people don't want to try over and over with charging stations when they fail to charge for whatever reason. Tesla superchargers just work. And they only have a single step: plug it in. No touch screens, apps, cards, anything. It cannot get any more easy to use. We need all the 3rd party chargers to catch up with Plug and Charge so they will work the same way with a single step of just plug in and walk away.

    • @rajj8887
      @rajj8887 2 года назад +2

      But...If you're looking for a capable off-road EV, Teslas are not going to cut it. Tesla would also most likely void your warranty if they find any mud underneath your vehicle.

    • @seanquick9812
      @seanquick9812 2 года назад

      Not sure what part of the country you live in... I have never had to wait at a charger, I have never had to unplug and replug (although i considered it today when i was only drawing 30 kWh at my first plug in, and on my way thru before I had 100+ at another stall in the same charger... but I was literally just adding 50 miles to get to the next charger, so i just made a 5 minute phone call) AT ANY TESLA CHARGING STATION... BUT! The one near my house (which i used one time only) had a plug with a bent pin (unusable) the one time i was there. There is one stall with a missing pin on my only 300 mile trip i do more than once a year... for 8 months. So... Tesla isn't perfect, but the problems are VISABLY obvious, no plug, wait, unplug, move.

      How much do you pay at the station per complete charge from like 5 volts left? We are looking into buying a Kia ev6 but I would like real life experience from a owner that tells the truth instead of a salesman telling you a lie just to get the sale

    • @munch9000
      @munch9000 2 года назад

      @@geezus1201 The EV6 comes with the first 1000kWh free if you use Electrify America stations, so I haven't actually paid for any of the charges yet, but the app does tell you what they would have cost without the promo. It looks like going from ~20% to ~80% at most chargers is about $20, though a few were cheaper (price per kWh is slightly different at each location). Now that I'm home and charging in my garage with a L2 charger it's much cheaper (just depends on your local electric rate).

    How long does it take your Rivian R1 to charge at home using a NEMA 14-50. 80% of my charging is at home. My Tesla Y can charge over night without any problems. How many miles can you add to your Rivian R1 in 12 hours using a NEMA 14-50. Thanks, safe travels. Guy

      I think it can, but only if the normal radiator fans can't keep up. The ford lightning has very loud big fans with extra cooling for the towing package option. I am not sure if the Ford uses the A/C in that model.

      The reality is that people would have an alternative energy car for a daily driver and a fuel car for long hauls. It’s why Chevy just announced an electric blazer and equinox. Cars for daily life vs fancy luxury vehicles. These folks on YT get paid to lead the pack and push boundaries. The infrastructure will get there soon to allow everyone to travel with electric vehicles.

      Not to mention you burn so much energy with the truck's high drag coefficient. Kyle always seems to be in such a hurry. I'd personally be uncomfortable with less than a 5% SoC on arrival. You always need to have enough room for unexpected traffic, detours, or changes in weather.
