I really enjoy the road trip videos. They have to take a brutal amount of editing so thank you for taking the time.
Wooo been waiting for this one, love these videos, our boiler had Broken so wrapped in blanket watching, great evening! Regards from the UK
Humans: "Long Charges on road trips are the WORST"
Dogs: "Long Charges on road trips are the BEST"
You guys have a lot of patience. Between the limited range and charging problems, your trip seemed rather tedious.
An absolute nightmare. Image how many stops, even if everything goes & charges perfectly you have to stop every 100 miles when towing. Laughable
Need a whole lot more trailer friendly / pull-through charging
I love that Thai place at Cedar City. So glad you enjoyed it! The people are really friendly and introduced me to some new Thai dishes as well.
@33:15 Love the Love’s comment. We need road trip chargers where humans can buy snacks and use the facilities. EA seemed to do so many deals with big box stores and maybe pre 2020 when a lot more stuff was open late it might have made a little sense. But definitely going forward the only place these precious, limited number of high power DCFC should be placed is at truck stops. Also think of the safety factor of this stop if you’re alone at night. No bueno.
I live in Cedar and absolutely love Sweet Basil, I travel a lot and have a hard time finding thai places that compare. I'm thrilled that you guys liked it!
Amen for idle fees. Also needed for top charging.
That guy deserves idle fees. Evil Kyle coming out a little. Love that guy! 😂
I wish we knew how much the fees were! 😈
Next time you're unloading a low car, just put the jack down and lift up the front of the trailer.
Put the Rivian in highest suspension mode.
Look how the car is loaded, they obviously have no idea how to tow. Do you really think they understand what you are trying to say
@@D44rkFx the lucid has a high suspension mode as well
@@macbook802 What did they do wrong? I have no idea how tow anything myself.
@@AmitPatel_. you want to have some weight over the hitch. To me the weight looks too far back.
Tip to keep the Lucid locked next time. If you put the key into a silver lined baggy, it will prevent it from transmitting a signal to the car. So a Funion bag that has a metal lining, it can prevent the key from talking to the car.
Found this out when a guy would put his company cell phone into a chip bag that prevented the signal from telling his boss where he was driving when he was not supposed to be driving there.
Or just use some aluminum foil.
Great video! Looking forward to the Norway road trip videos 😊
I like how at 16:38 you get a cloud pattern that looks like a drawing of a tornado. Staring at clouds, one of the few sources of entertainment on a road trip in my youth.
I enjoy so much these videos! Thank you for editing and posting them here
Speaking of chargers at Love’s, I saw in the news fairly recently that GM was partnering with (I think it was) them to install chargers at truck stops across the US. It wasn’t a ton of them, but it’s something.
Flying J and Pilot travel centers. It looks like it's going to be a decent amount and right off the highway like he mentioned. Hoping they design or put them with trucks/trailers in mind. Glancing at a map they'll be adding 1 almost in the middle for one of my common tow destinations so looking forward to having that as a option.
@@Marko343 That's good if you live and travel close to an Interstate. I live 150 miles from any Flying J or Pilot travel center. But, i shouldn't complain as i can charge my Chevy Bolt for free at a Rivian Waypoint level 2, 11.5 kW station just a 4 minute walk from my front Apt. door.
Loved this part as well as part 1. Can't help to think that this technology needs more development to consider it a viable alternative to combustion, at least for these long trips. I understand that with a combustion engine car towing another car like this it would also be necessary to fill the tank as frequently, but the difference is that it would take 10 to 20 minutes tops each time and with no anxiety. It would be nice to have the total time spent at charging stations, anyway it looks way too much for me. Thanks for these videos!
I always enjoy your road music. Shazam had a hard time identifying Vamanos, but finally did. Thanks.
Amazing video Kyle. Was waiting for part 2. Thank you for sharing.
EA is honestly going to kill the EV movement. The amount of failures is completely unacceptable.
A big +100 for pass-through charging for trailers.
shes done with this whole trip! 😂 35:12
You also did a roadtrip in Norway recently right? Will there also be a nice video series for it? :)
Greeting from Indio! (About 15 miles from Palm Springs). Great video looked like a fun trip! Rivian did a great job!
It’s been forever since Part 1 aired. These disjointed episodes are a bit frustrating. Another example: the Alaska trip. Was that ever released? On a positive note, I never miss a vid on any of y’all’s channels. 😊
Chuckling about the silent leg of the trip at the 37 minute mark
For New York City 1 a.m. Tuesday January 17th your dogs are beautiful
Just watched your video with the Porsche EV in Germany .. the difference between the almost ubiquitous charging stations (Ionity etc.) there is stark compared to ours here in the US! We need to do better!
Advert 5:15 well done, funny to say but... :DO
Occurs to me this channel deserves more attention, at risk of patronizing, often crucial 'unique' info and perspectives.
As someone from Victorville, the slander is so funny 😂
Thanks!
Not stopping at Beaver, you missed the fencing off of the EA chargers there (presumably about to upgrade). Last week they also closed down Scipio, making the I-15 corridor difficult to say the least.
Great video! I’d be interested in hearing how you think this would compare using gas! Keep up the great work!
would like you and your wife to talk about the car you are driving, how comfortable it is with such a car and what are the comforts of traveling together when you are on the road. Thanks!
Her face just said I wish you would just be able to refill in 5 minutes like everyone else
32:49 - this happened to me in Greenville SC
I appreciate your content! Thank you!
Lucid needs a "tow mode"
Dude, I would’ve pulled the headlight fuses on the Lucid. That’d drive me up one wall and down another.
Will love to see Blue in the driver seat. LOL
You should do a race again but include these to cars please
$5.49 for gas at the Wal Mart, and $6.29 for diesel! Wow! California has prices that are much higher than Oregon, we only pay $3.49 on December 30, 2022.
the dog content was honestly the best part of this series
So a Diesel or gas truck with a 30 gallon tank would have gotten 300 miles range towing, with 5 min fill-ups. As an EV enthusiast, we need to double battery size, so that we can deep charge at 350 kw. My next car is going to be a Cadillac Lyriq, as long as they double the battery and license FSD. Otherwise it is a Tesla Model S Long Range : ) Good thing, my 2014 Cadillac CTS 3.6 will last me another 10 years easily, so that I can wait for the technology to advance. I can do a Las Vegas to LA round trip on one 18 gallon tank, cheap Nevada Costco gas, not having to buy ridiculous California gas.
That adventure network looks awesome. I wish my Kia could use it. In regards to EA, have you all tried putting an EA card in your Apple Wallet? It seems to work better for me, and you can still track the charge in the EA app. Not sure it would have helped with your difficulties in this video.
I second putting the EA card in my Apple wallet. It’s basically my go to. I even have it on my work phone and personal phone so whichever one is handy can do it. But failing that the swipe to start in the app tends to be very robust too. However RFID phone card just seems to power through when sometimes the charger might show unavailable in app and yet the phone wallet card will get the charger going without interacting with the app.
could you have wrapped the Lucid key in aluminum foil or something for a makeshift faraday cage?
Oh man, the first 3 minutes were beautiful. That chick is piiiissed
I wonder if Ellie has an issue with her vision or depth perception
That was what I was thinking. Material is changing so her vision or depth perception makes her weary of stepping on a different material. Typically dogs see material change in elevation changes. IE steps or different rooms.
You're like the Michelin guide for EV charging stations
Is her eye site not doing too well? The best shot in the whole video was when blue was beating Alyssa’s face with his tail. 😂😂😂
Coyld you take the battery out of the lucid key FOB to stop the proximity lights?
LET'S GOOOOO LUCID FAMILY 😁🙋♂️❤🥳🥳🥳🎉🎉🎉🕺🕺💎💎💎🤑🤑🤑😉🤞🍀🍀 LUCID & RIVIAN ❤🙋♂️✌
Do you know if the Bolt owner was charged idle fees?
regen stops going downhill!?!? whattt!?!? say it ain't so!!!!!!!
Kyle, hows your center consol armrest holding up. Mine seems to be disintegrating a bit on the seams. Not sure if its the dogs or bad material./
Really want a shirt! Please🥰
I work at Starbucks now!
So dogs die below 50% charge on hot day? 😄
nice,, ,who strapped the car down? its wrong of course,,, cross the lines
Nice, I have been waiting on part 2. 30 something kW is normal for my Bolt EUV. 😕 Or it could be that I am not using the right chargers. 🤔
A question: could you have disconnected the 12v battery in the Lucid?
My bolt EV most of the time gets up to 45kw of charging. If a big vehicle pulls up to charge or every station is charging a vehicle it'll be in the 30s. I really only mess with Electrify America, although I did recently download the charge point app
Why does it kill the regen if the battery is not full?
you'll think having so much weight on that trailer, you'd want maximum re-gen going down. must be a heat thing. or safety for the hitch. ill google it.
Trevor in GTA V lives in Victorville. It's very close to the El Mirage dry lake bed. I used to shoot car commercials up there on that lake bed.
5:33 - please put an Disclamer in for epileptics. Those flashing colors are putting people into seizures while watching your videos
8:10 😍😍
Alyssa please don't throw popcorn all over the truck. Gross dogs climbing all over the truck
The lucid does not look properly loaded on the trailer
What I meant to say was from New York City not for New York City apologize for that I am so sorry
When the rivian dies tow it with the lucid. At Salina charge them both
Dude love your videos but most people on vacation don't have the extra time you have to charge or want to have the range anxiety.
Sü per 💯.
Still super sketchy with your towing setup. At least 10% of the towed weight needs to be on your hitch. The lucid looks balanced over the trailer axles, which could introduce uncontrollable sway or worse. Please do some research before you kill someone.
I agree, I realize there’s a load distribution hitch so it stops the sway and the Rivian can’t take a ton of tongue weight, but still.. I’d feel a lot more comfortable if that Lucid was a little further forward.
If you watch part 1 Kyle went through the details of the trailer setup.
@@skyemalcolm I did and he's wrong. Kyle has repeatedly towed unsafely on his channel....from the water tote that slid to the back of his trailer (and he continued to blast through the mountains at 70mph in the rain with a ahifted load) to the Land Rover he tied down with 2 straps through the spokes. Maybe he can do a collab with Andre from TFL - he's quite knowledgeable.
no music @38min?
If I do get an EV I still want to be able to go offroad and have the charge to be home in a day without having to wait for hours to charge.
It's too bad you couldn't covr the Lucid's headlights with a rug or something.
If want to separate your figures go back to the pen and paper method. Lol!!!!!!!
try dog shoes on Elle
Buy a gas generator and keep it in the truck
A 5kW generator weighs something like 120lbs, is noisy like hell and it will take almost a day to charge the truck. Physics sucks. :-)
Ahole BMW owner
Thanks for the video, but 6 weeks between part 1 and part 2 ,I know you have other channels, but still like the road trips the best ,dont really watch the other stuff 😀
Totally agree! But life happens and we have a bunch in queue for editing. Thank you for your patience and for watching!
Welcome to the world of the infrastructure problems for these "planet saving" EVs. The problem will persist until the solution is found. Wouldn't it make more sense to have these problems ironed out before the introduction of EVs? It's also a huge barrier for people.
Damn, took over a month to upload the second video almost unsubscribed
