I recently switched to the TaylorMade ball and didn't win the masters this year. Would not recommend.
😂😂
Nice
I played a round with one and didn't get a hole in one. I do not recommend
I recently played a round with one and did not make a par. Would not recommend
Wow. Cmon guys, it was funny the first time. Don’t overdo it. Well done on the first post!
If I had won 11 tourneys (2 MASTERS) with the same ball and wedges, I wouldn't switch either.
While I believe the TM golf balls are on par with the ProV1, changing anything that works, would be stupid considering how he's playing.
hard to trust a company's ball when they magically found half a club in distance by finally catching up to the competition this year
Changing anything that works would be stupid? Umm how many times they change to a new model driver, woods, irons 😑
Love him but he is no Tiger
@@expansioniskeyrnbecause the companies are paying them big bucks they do get some pressure to play the latest, and USUALLY, there is a small gain to be had. These days in drivers/fairway woods that’s forgiveness, given we’ve maxed out the speed of centre strikes. But history is littered with tour pros using older models. Happens way more than you might think.
But they arent on par to prov1/x. Maybe spin but thats it overall. Not close and i tried
I'm not sure why this is a big deal. Tiger Woods has a deal with Bridgestone. He's actively promoting their golf balls and no one seems to be bent out of shape about it.
Tiger' s been using Bridgestone for years. The Nike tour balls were all made by Bridgestone.
@@JaezonHe also uses Muira blade irons.
@@TheMainMan123 tiger is using taylormade blade irons with his initals and name of club those are not muira if thats who you talking about hardly anyone on tour uses
@@golffreak68there was a rumor that when with titleist Tiger played miura irons that would be stamped to look like titleists
Bridgestone makes golf balls?!
You have said it a couple of times, they pay these players so much money. There is so much money being paid by manufacturers that the cost of casual golf is out of this world. Been watching Bryson's videos and he can play with anything they throw at him. Junior clubs, discount store clubs, charity shop clubs and even hickory sticks. It only proves most pros are in it for the money and it's a detriment to us casual players.
When I worked at a course as a starter / ranger I found hundreds of balls and for grins would go out on the course behind the last group with a dozen of two different balls and compare them by hitting straight, fade and draw shots to the green with my 7i. The ability to shape a Pro V1 was unmatched by any other ball I tested. By that I mean it was possible to open or close stance 45° and get the ball back to land and stay on the green.
A ball being able to do that is a function of the club face being able to grip the ball and change the tilt of its gyroscopic spin axis, how quickly it returns to being round after release off the face which affects how stable the spin axis is, and the spin rate which affects lift which in turn affects how much it can be shaped. I didn’t have any way to quantify those things but when you do direct comparisons with Pro V1 as the comparison baseline the differences become obvious.
How much the ball is compressed on the face is a huge variable and why ball performance at the tour pro level is much different than with a recreational golfer who doesn’t compress the ball as much and always tries to hit the ball straight not shape it. For the weekend hacker a ball with less spin off the face is better because it results in straighter miss-hit shots; i.e., more ‘forgiveness’.
Temperature is also a factor for those who play in colder weather. When the temperature drops below 50°F I switch to the lower compression pink balls because the performance of a ProV1 declines when it gets that cold.
The Pro V1 changed the game when it came out for sure. It's the brand though. Before the Pro V1 the Titleist Professional was the best ball on the market. Titleist has cultivated a "Cadillac" image. No brand is changing that anytime soon. The Titleist lineup is the gold standard every manufacturer is chasing. They won't over pay any player to play their equipment. They let Tiger walk to Nike after winning the 97 Masters with Titleist blades. He played the 975D for awhile until Nike could get their engineers up to speed and didn't get paid for it. Titleist knows their equipment is better then everyone else.
Here's something to consider
Spieth had 5 wins, 2 wins, 3 wins from span of 2014-2017, that's 3 seasons. Only 2 wins since then.
DJ had 3 wins, 4 wins, 3 wins from 2016 to 2018 seasons, also 3 seasons. Only 1 win in 2019 then obviously onto different tour.
Rory has had a 3 season streak of wins, actually twice in his career. But similar in win totals over a 3 season span.
Tiger? Starting in 1999, he went 8,9,5,5,5,1,6,8,7,4,6. He's had 10 seasons with 5 or more wins.
Point being, let's pump the breaks on the Tiger comparisons. Scottie seems to be at that pinnacle point where some of these other guys have reached. After that, they fall off. Scottie is hot, but so were these other guys before they slumped. He's also only got 2 majors in that span. Sure, he has wins multiple times in a season, including this year. Tiger never slumped basically, and had majors in multiple seasons in a row in his career. Not the same
100% agree. I would also add that I’ve been to several pga tournaments and seen a player (3-4 actually) who has a major club sponsorship, with the staff bag and head covers, take the head over off and have a different brands driver in the bag. You gotta play what you’re comfortable with.
Exactly. People immediately jump to comparing Scottie to Tiger. He has 10 PGA wins and 2 majors. Calm down. DJ has 2 majors and 24 PGA Tour wins, been No1 for 3 years. You can maybe consider comparing Scottie to DJ if you think he will win another 14 events. Also bear in mind that most of Scotties wins were on a split tour without the LIV Players.
I would agree and add a ton changes with a family. It happens to all of them.
That’s literally what he said at the start
@@Hgdhgfdssxvbbnjoo sure did. About 5 seconds of what I said was in the video. I gave it more context and also made the point that this has happened to many players and they seem to fizzle away
Love the show guys
Because Titleist still makes the best ball!
True story.
My last round I went from hitting a TP 5 to a Pro V 1…
The Pro V was a much better feeling golf ball.🤷♂️
Simple hey !
Best balls in the woods no doubt!
@@BillMcGirrThe pro v1 isnt comparable to the tp5. Tp5x is comparable to pro v1 and the pro v1x is comparable to the tp5
Shaves 6 strokes off your score before you even tee off
I think TMade would be happier he switched from Scotty Cameron to spider and went on a tearrrrrr
Actually he switched to a Logan Olson and then to a Spider
Take a shot everytime Guy says Roooorrryyy next episode lol
TP5x is a great ball but I’ve really come to like the left dash ProV1
Pro V, best ball, or best marketing? Typical club golfer playing off 18, “ I’m using a Pro V, because that’s what the world No 1 uses” Tops his drive, shanks his approach, takes three to get out of the bunker, then four putts. “I couldn’t use any other ball, I love the Pro V, it just suits my game”
Scottie was my favorite before he started winning, and I don't touch Taylormade or Nike products.
Rick is the best… nuff said
The top golf balls (TM, Titleist, Callaway, and Bridgestone) are all equally good. They just feel slightly different and to a tour pro that means a LOT. For the average Joe, it doesn't matter. I'd say the biggest key is just staying consistent with the ball you use, whatever that is. Even if it's Noodles :)
Diluted pga fields and Bryson has up to this point schooled him in the majors. I give credit for how good Scottie is but there is an asterisk in the PGA tour right now. Golf is split and the OWGR is corrupt and irrelevant now.
I prefer the feel around the green with a TP5x.
He runs vokey wedges and srixon in 3/4 irons.
For me , being brought up on balata balls , Taylormade TP5 , Pro-V1 feel just too hard , especially in the short game. Been playing Callaway Crome Soft for a few years but trying out both tour ball offerings from Bridgestone just to see , initial thoughts are they sound quite firm. Anyone got any thoughts recommendations?
It’s really as simple as the TP5 spins too much off the driver and the TP5X doesn’t fly in the right window for him
I recently tried the TM balls you are discussing and was very impressed. I would put them right on par with the ProV's in terms of distance, feel and ability to put some spin on around the greens. The only negative I observed was that they seem to get scuffed quite easily(without hitting trees, rocks, cart paths). A very good golf ball.
completely agree. they are similar (i prefer prov1 to tp5x) but tp definitely isnt nearly as durable, with the exception of shearing on well struck wedges where they are similar if not equal.
I got a hole-in-one with a tour response… so that’s what I’ve been playing lately :)
I'm at the stage in my game where ball choice is getting important, I no longer play just any ball I find, I won't play a top flight, but the Wilson range balls are fair game.
I really like the TP5x, longest ball with my irons and sticks like glue
One more reason to really respect Scotty. He's putting winning ahead of collecting the money Taylormade would pay him for switching equipment. Too bad so may other players who have chased the pay-outs don't have his standards. They may well be performing better.
Yeah, he and all the rest really hate the money! I play for pride. I play for the tradition. I play for the love of the game. What a crock!
I think a ball has to be personal too your game. Ive gamed Tru feels, ProVs, Bridgestone but I seemingly play best with their worst rated ball the Srixon distance ball. I play a windy course and find it cuts the wind better. I may swap too a soft ball for the odd par 3 but not often.
I think TW made a mistake moving to the Nike clubs. I know it was in his contract he could go back and all, but the pressure was surely on. The putter especially.
So yeah, don't change what works.
A few tm players dont use a tm golf ball, or wedges or putter. You have to use what works for u. If i had a golf club from every brand that i hit well and all the gapping was correct, i would have 14 diff club companies in my bag. Its all about having something you are comfortable looking at and using to play your best golf!!!
True
NOT TRUE!! PROFESIONAL mean did it for money. It's your work. You became a professional golfer to earn money, make a living. If company offer you alot of money to use their equipment, you took it!! It's your purpose!! That's why you became professional golfer. If you did it for fun, sure you can used whatever suit you because you didn't do it for money!!
When Rory was struggling with his wedges a few years ago he went back to vokey wedges and only switched over once the MG4s came out. I think brands care about wins and certain clubs in the bag. If they keep getting to sell people on the qi10 getting Scotty wins they probably aren’t too hurt
I tried the tp5 and tp5x and hated them. Srixon and Titleist only.
Really not news IMO as far as the “player” but the clean shot from Titleist is pretty funny.
Its maybe the perfect time now to change to TM balls after this week 😂
if it's still work why change ?
If the TM balls spun a little more/less or had a higher/lower ball flight that could lose him a tournament. I bet he changes in time, just not now when everything is working.
There is a video on here from a yr ago of Jordan wearing the same shirt Tiger had on in his practice round Tue. it;s a vid about Jordan and Spud Webb. Look into this....Taylor Made bought the Logo from Nike...his own brand was in the works yrs ago...before,,well, ya know. Shirt is blue.."MJ was blown away by Spud Webb" and tigers shirt tues..Yesterday.
The Bridgestone is a very under rated ball, it’s what you are use to anyway these guys can adjust no problem all the top balls are very similar
Way more exciting when you find a prov1 in the woods.
I knew that He use a Titleist ball but never knew he used those wedges
Even the Vokey
It’s a Balls up😂😂😂😂😂
Tiger also didn't/doesn't use their balls, he specifically said his game is suited to taking spin off when he needs to so he plays the spinniest ball he could get which was Bridgestone 🤷🏼♂️
Can you imagine how good I could be if I could be fully fitted by Mizuno, yeah Mizuno, the makers of the best equipment. My Irons Zip Under Natural Order
Maybe this is a dumb question, but isn't Scheffler playing on a tour dilute of talent because of the LIV defections?
What ball does the rest of the tailormade team use?
The sad part is he should be going up against Bryson every week. Scottie beats him the majority of the time because of his consistency, but when they are both on form, it would be epic. This is where we, the viewers, lose.
He’s in a recent titleist video with Jordan Speith testing the prov1 models. Of course they pay him.
Everybody knows "Scottie Scheffler - Taylormade". To be honest, until this clip I didn't even know what ball he is playing. So the branding obviously works...
I didn’t have a clue either, but like you said I know him to taylormade
This video is a beautiful reminder of the goodness in the world. Uplifting!
Scottie has won $28 million so far this year with the ball and wedges he's always used.
The PGA Tour should adopt the Titleist ProV1 as the STD for Tour Play. There is way too much 'Voo Doo' in equipment today. Your same question could also apply to Tiger, who plays Bridgestone balls.
Then you're asking every player to start delivering the club a specific way to get the most out of that certain ball. One of the great things about golf is it can be done a wide variety of ways.
Every time I find a tp5 and play with it. It’s gone within 3 swings. They seem very very unforgiving if you aren’t perfect.
Opposite for me I finally bought a box of tp5 first time playing with it was like no matter how hard I swing my driver it went straight
That is possibly the most ridiculous assertion on any video in youtube land. Why don't you just blame the course architect for putting the lake where you hit your drives every week?
@@darkcarnival5207 you think all balls are the same?
@@HuntsT Are all golf balls the same? Of course not, however I believe within “categories” or “classes” there isn’t much difference. In a recent issue of one of golf’s major mags it was ball review 2024 and I saw some things I found very surprising. For example, all of Bridgestone’s Tour B series have the exact same Reactiv X Core and the same Xclrnt Mid Core, all of them. Five of Srixon’s offerings have a Fast Layer DG core. So now you have a cover and a mantle as the only factors that will determine the feel and performance and even those are a “maybe”. It’s my opinion that if you were to give average players these balls to test without identifying which is which, there’s no way in the world they’d know the difference from one to another. Failing to distibguish themselves otherwise, Bridgestone recently comes out with the "mindful" ball, that way you can pay extra $$$ for a small graphic you could draw on the ball yourself. This is as pathetic as taking 7-10 swings each with different driver/shaft combinations on a launch monitor (using beaten and abused range balls, BTW) and think that you’re going to be able to identify the best combination for you, at best you’re going to rule out the total misfits and narrow down the choice to like two or three dozen.
Nothing makes me both laugh and feel sad at the same time than getting paired up with the 18+ handicapper who thinks his/her game is being improved by playing a Poor Vee Won balls, I just envision $20 bills shaped as wings on the ball as it soars into the lake; their game would be much improved if they played a ball that cost $25 a dozen less and put that saved money to use in lessons. For example, having learned to play with the old rubber wound balata covered ball I still prefer a very soft feeling ball and can enjoy the performance of Staff Duo+, Srixon Soft Feel, Callaway Supersoft, TM Soft Response and yes, even the TM Kalea and there’s probably more I would that I haven’t tried. The “tour” balls?, they all feel as hard as a rock to me and make too much of a “click” at impact. Spin rates aside, if I can’t stand the sound and feel of a ball why would I care if I could spin it off the front of the green to impress my friends?
@@darkcarnival5207 I agree with you on everything you said. I am currently a 16 hdcp and play or practice every day starting a month ago. I started playing about 45 days ago. My swing (especially my driver is a work in progress) although it has gotten better in the last week through hundreds of swings. I currently buy and play Kirkland balls since I lose them regularly from playing so much and not being good. I also play any lost balls I find while playing. When I find and use a TP5 I just feel it is less forgiving for me. Titliest prov1s seem the most forgiving callaway balls seem fine as well. Most balls play pretty similar to me and I can’t tell much of a difference other than sound. From nitros, to Bridgestones, to top flites. But for some reason the tp5s just are noticeably harder for me to control. May be different for others people with different swing speeds. I swing pretty fast at or near tour average. So when my face to path isn’t good, I severely pay for it with my speeds.
What will become of Pro V1 when the ball rollback happens?
Triple track goated
There is a reason why it's the #1 ball in golf.
Because they sell the most, whatever is BEST is up to the individual. All top brands are all good. It is purely a business decision for the Pros, they all can play anything.
@@sms9106 I mean.. There's some truth to that I suppose. But prov1 WINS the most. For me, I absolutely hate the tp5/x ball. It feels harsh. I don't like the way it feels on the putter. When I play prov1, I shoot my lowest, putt the best, better greenside chips.... But it could be in my head. Same for Scotty as well. Cheers
Scottie is in Titelist ball testing videos
I play left dash, the Taylormade balls are horrible. CHROME X wasnt too bad. Srixon is great too.
I tried tp5’s when I ran out of balls and my pro shop didn’t have any pro v’s in stock. I was hitting the ball way further. It messed up all of my club gaps and made things really difficult. Sometimes, reliability and consistency make the difference.
lmao,knock it off
Tp5x are fantastic
We seen what happened with Rory for a while when changing
Srixon Z-Star Diamond >> tp5 in my opinion
TP5 is too heavy, I can’t compress it with my swing speed.
to be fair, doesn’t Tiger use a Bridgestone ball? and he has for a long time
He’s dominant in the week PGA Tour field these days. What would happen if it was back to normal and he was playing against full fields? I know it’ll happen. The U.S. Open will happen.😏
Rick, we know you do reviews, but do you still fit individuals for clubs anymore? Or have you moved on from that?
Rick's sidekick still getting paid by the word still, I see. Wow, he can talk.
yeah, cut to the chase....PLEASE!
He didn’t want a ball and wedge deal. Tiger wanted his own ball deal. Scotty wants to use what he is comfortable with what he has no head brainer
Rick uses Pro V1 and hasn’t broken 75 since Obama.
I use a pro v1...... the world didn't change
Pro V1 is a mid flight, mid spin ball with a soft feel. As far as I can tell, TM don’t make such a ball. TP5 launches higher and spins more and Scottie always talks about a ball that does what he wants it to do. I get the feeling the TP5 would launch too high and have too much green side spin for his liking. The ProV1 clearly ticks all boxes. Not all golf balls are created equal, and Titleist make a better ball. I switched to the AVX from another brand 9 months ago and my scores have improved.
He must have tested TP5 and TP5x and reached his conclusions. Such fine margins with these guys whether that’s from genuine performance differentials or just mindset. Would love to know what the ProV gives him that the TP5 doesn’t.
He grew up playing titleist. That’s probably a factor
How many tournaments has Zach Johnson won since switching from Titleist Clubs and a SeeMore Putter? Enough Said! You don't mess with success! If it ain't broke, don't fix it!⛳
At the moment the guy could use a Slazenger and still win !!
Slazenger makes a great ball
He used to be a Titleist brand ambassador for the ball but TaylorMade was so mad they bought out his contract so he didn’t do any advertising for them
I like Bridgestones
Cause Pro V1 is the best and always has been
he got his 6th victory since this lol
I switched to TP5X and didn’t even win tickets to the masters
For what these damn big name balls cost you should get tickets when you buy the balls.
Tm balls are the shortest of all major brands with my swing speed...
i really dont see it as a knock on taylormade. it's a good ball too. i think the industry has moved beyond type stuff. Tmade-adidas gone, Nike clubs & apparel gone, Puma-Cobra gone... its just not as important as it used to be.
Titleist doesn't pay players for their ball-only sponsorships.
However, if any player has a club sponsorship from a brand who makes balls, they get additional money for a club+ball contract. He's playing a better ball. Period.
He's playing ball that he knows and trusts. Switching balls mean he doesnt know his distances anymore
Wish they would bring back the project @. Great ball. WHY TAYLORMADE, WHY!?!?
C’mon Rick, simple answer to this. Scottie is probably contracted to use 7 clubs from Taylormade. Most of them aren’t contracted for all 14 clubs plus a ball.
I’m a one brand guy I’m full Taylormade guy and I am in love from the woods to the irons to the wedges to the putter and golf ball too. I think Scottie should be a one brand guy. It’s just my opinion only
When the product is superior why would you change? Titleist has soooo many players that play the Pro V1 or any of the other models of it that aren't payed to play it. Same goes with the Vokey wedges. They are hands down the gold standard that every manufacturer is chasing. Period. The same can be argued for the entire lineup of Titleist equipment. The other brands pay a lot of money to have their equipment used. Titleist doesn't over pay any player. Tiger played Titleist when he wasn't being payed to play. Look at when Tiger left Titleist and went to Nike. They weren't willing to pay Tiger what he wanted to play their equipment. He went to Nike got payed, sold lots of equipment for Nike and in the end Nike Golf went under anyway. Titleist has the "Cadillac" image and they've cultivated it and used it well over the years. Taylormade and most of the other brands are like your common family sedan. Good but not a Cadillac. That's just the way it is. Until the other brands stop trying to just "sell" equipment and start really caring about what they are putting out. Look at the driver releases. Taylormade is every year, why? To sell drivers, period. Titleist and Ping are very 2 years, why? Quality, not a sales gimmick. Titleist and Ping both retain value on the secondary market. Taylormade, not so much. You can buy a 3 year old Sim 2 gently used for under $200 usd. Try buying a Tsi 3 for under $200. You may find a few here and there now. Why? Quality.

TaylorMade has made too many premium golf ball versions. It was hard to keep up until the last few years. ProV1 has always been ProV1 since it’s inception
Because Titleist is the best that why!
the podcast and Hit channel have spread you too thin. When is more playing content coming on the main channel?
Pretty much every Friday is a Break 75 video
Titleist is a BETTER ball!!! Always has been!
Prov1 is the best golf ball hands down, all golfers know this.
Cuz the TP5s suck lmao. Taylormade is definitely far behind both Titleist and Callaway, though this year's TP5 series is definitely better than last year's in terms of distance I guess.
Nobody is in the conversation with Tiger
@HankAaronJoseph19 Well, Jack is. And Scottie is on course to have a year as good as any Tiger ever had. Vijay also had 9 or 10 wins in 2004.
A golf ball is a golf ball, very little difference between high quality brands. The player is always what matters
There can be a huge difference between the flagship golf balls for each brand. Last year, in robot testing, there was almost a 20 yard difference between a ProV1 and the TP5. Spin, launch and flight are also different.
Why is this a topic? Rick, cmon dude?! You know why? The ball is inferior, he gets paid money to use it and he uses it to perfection. Great vid! Just for clicks. Why do you use your clubs and balls? Because they fit YOU!
who is the golfer Tyga you are taking about. never heard of him 🤨
he's in the wind now
TM make great kit.. but surely nobody is best suited to only one manufacturer kit...
