- How many remember Fubu? In the late 90s to early 2000s Fubu was one of the most popular street brands in the world.
It was created in the days before streetwear was really even a thing, in a manner of speaking, it could be looked at as the grandfather of streetwear
We all know fubu as a relec of the past today, but how exactly did they fall off? Lets find out.
Im Nate the Great from Takeflight214.com and this is the rise and fall of Fubu.

The fact his momma took out a second mortgage. That shit beautiful. Great video
You have some good content. I like what you are putting out. A few things though in reference to this video. FUBU wasn't streetwear they were considered "Urban Fashion" much like Karl Kani, Cross Colours & Mecca to name a few. Streetwear from the early 90s to the beginning of the 2000's was underground. Stussy is the Godfather of streetwear. Other brands apart of that underground movement were Triple 5 Soul, PNB Nation, Fresh Jive, Union, XtraLage again to name a few. What you said about Fubu was correct about them going to the Magic trade show in Vegas. The thing is they still didn't have enough money. They ended up partner with Samsung (yes the electronics company) clothing division ran by Norman Weisfeld and his partner Bruce. That backing is what took Fubu from struggling to global success. I know all this because I came up in the industry at that time. I also had my dealings with Norman and Bruce as well.
Fubu fell? I just bought 5 pairs of pants on their store earlier.
Been waiting for this one ☝🏾🔥
I thought LL Cool J was the owner of FUBU since he wore it so much. FUBU was very popular back in the late 90s.
Good work
Don't Forget *Nsync First Brand deal was Fubu as well and they where huge overseas at the time and broke into USA wearing it all over TRL & other shows.
In the next episodes… Mecca, karl kani, enyci, queens school of hard knocks, avirex, 555 soul, let’s go back into the 1990s
Yeah that’s all the way back, I plan to do more classic brands soon 👍🏽
Just to name a few more= RP55, Akademics, Ecko, Phat Farm, G-Unit!!! #GoodOl'Days
Avirex is having a small resurgence, I love it
Great video
Yo I love your videos homeboy, keep it up, fubu was ace

Somebody got to take the yearly Ls to push the agenda
Of course I rock FUBU wanting to support black businesses in the 90s,,,, I also saw the brand,,, walking through the holes at high School 🏫🎒 (1993) 🎓
Very informative. Can you do one on Rocawear. Alot of ppl would love to know what really happened to the brand that Jay, Dame and Biggs built. Thank you.
Yeah gotta do them, we’ll ad them to the list

I definitely am gonna buy some FUBU gear
I use to love Fat Albert fubu collection 😎💯
They sell fubu at Forever 21 and on their website and on social media 😊🔥
I remember FUBU and Cross Colors
I loved branded clothing, famous or not what i choose with is . .the fittings, the nature of the cloth
I stop buying Fubu in 98 when that guy Damian was on Rap City and he made a comment saying if you can afford Tommy you can afford mine....I took exception to that bcuz the acronyms for Fubu was For Us By Us....I know he was trying to get his paper back but we black folks are poor....if I can remember anyway I think I bought two FB shirts at a store in the mall at expensive prices and bought the remaining FB shirts from Burlington for half of the mall prices until he appeared on Rap City...I didn't really sweat it anyway bcuz there were sooooooooooo many dope clothing lines back in the 90s...which aren't none here in 2024
Hey Howdy from NOLA..!! As a lifetime fan of The Harlem Globetrotters I've probably got about 7 FUBU Jerseys and WarmUp Tops..!!

If denim jackets and high top fades can make a comeback,so can fubu.theyll just have to really put in effort and have sharp ears and eyes to incorporate it in today's competitive market and constant changing culture
They have soo much vintage Fubu on depop
Polyester polyester and more polyester.. Now i only wear cotton clothes
It could blow up again the internet is amazing 👏 🙌 lots of people trying to buy blk only we are in need of more options.
Bootleggers and copyright infringement put them in a bad position.
Have you personally known someone that wore fubu? It was never popular not even in the late 90s/ early 2000s, Daymond John inherited his wealth and uses that business as a way to portray himself as a self-made
For us bye us
What's wrong with this firm? why are the sizes extra large? What does clothing that is sold in Europe (for example, in a Def shop) have to do with Fubu?
Naz
Haaahaaaa, for us by us, really!!!?
Do yall really not see the light, he sold out, the man has sold his soul, and why and for what, haahaaa, look at his pics, we are the lost ones.
Draymond John annoys me. I don’t have to despise FUBU. I don’t have to dig it either. I just feel he short changed a lot of those that originally started with him
I can see it, or maybe it was always who he was originally and it took money to bring it out?
Licking my lipstick 💄 like ll. Cool j
ŁUBU DUBU JEBAĆ FUBU
FUBU is tacky. Stick with Karl Kani.
Feeling fresh feeling fly in my funky Karl Kani”
fubu was always corny
Karl Kani was smarter. He crossed over into non-urban culture.
