These aircrafts fly around 300-400 hours in a month . The cost calculator is basing it on an yearly 400 hours .
Yea, that struck me as odd. Fixed costs such as purchase and training would be over-represented. No to mention maintenance would be on the clock, not condition.
I ran numbers on aircraft before. I was close to those numbers. It would be interesting to compare 737 operating costs to the Airbus operating costs.
650 hours a year is unrealistically short.
@@matsv201 Exactly, making the numbers irrelevant
@@lukethompson5558 Yea... that is like private car teretory
It would be interesting to see what the 787, A350, and A380 operating costs would be. Even comparing the operating cost between A320 NEO and CEO families
Thank you for watching, we appreciate the feedback! ✈️
I knew it would be expensive but honestly that surprised me and was even higher than I expected. Makes me wonder how much profit an airline like Ryanair actually makes per flight
Many budget airlines make a lot of extra money from ancillary like sea t selection, snacks and drinks, and others :)
@@notawesomedanny785 that’s true that’s true, just it’s hard to imagine all of that making up for all those operating costs. I mean I’m sure it works out for them though since their business model worked great
@@LuxPlanes I think that, if you've flown Ryanair, you really only get the price you paid for if you are getting on the plane, not eating anything, and not carrying any baggage. At least they're quite safety concerned (so it's not really cutting costs for safety). Everything is marked up far more than most conventional airlines.
hi lux planes i love ur vids
This video was great - now you gotta do one for every aircraft family!
Thank you for watching! 😊✈️
I don't think these numbers are representative as the normal usage of airplanes is way higher than just 450h/year. It must be a rough estimates of ops cost based on acquisition price
Hey Simple flying...I just gotta update you that from India we couldn't watch any of your latest videos for the last couple of days without using VPN.
Wow. That's very interesting
🤔 interesting...
Wow that much to fly the ACJ..
What's the hourly operating cost of the Max and it's variants
Well you have to think about even though these aircraft costs a lot of money, the on-board entertainment, and food costs, meaning airlines sell a lot of stuff on there planes make them recoup the costs on the plane
This is cool
Thank you for watching, be sure to tune in again! 😊✈️
given these prices, the cost of airline tickets start to make a little more sense, but i wonder how much money each or these airplanes generates for the airline relative to how much it costs to fly. of course this is a much much harder thing to determine as revenue per flight is much more variable than expenses paid per flight for the most part (right?)
Don't forget the airport fees! Takeoff/landing can be thousands of dollars per flight. I'm not sure if that was factored into the costs mentioned.

Only carries 19 passengers???
It's a private jet, usually transporting one or two rich business people and the personell to fly and maintain the aircraft
Yes it’s a private jet
They fly around 2000 hrs a year - more for LCC. This video should be taken down for being misleading. The actual cost/hour is about half that quoted.
I too would be interested in running costs purchase costs comparisons between Airbus and Boeing large and narrow body aeroplanes. I could be subjective and tell you who makes the best plane but wouldn't you you rather wait an get it from an expert.?
I'm so impressed that is soo expensive.
A 3hours flight Paris to Athens cost generally 150€/oneway who they can rentabilize the flight ?
If they pay 45*3 = 135€ for planes operations. Who they can pay all the taxes and airlines employees ?
As it was Boeing’s disastrous response to the commercial threat of the AirBus 320Neo I would have liked to know what the 737Max cost to fly per hour.
These compare well to fighter jets, which range from under $10k to upwards of $20k per hour.
Yeah 500 hour overhaul and 12 month landing gear check…. Also do not forget it is required more ground crew than 321.
It would interesting to know cost of per seat for a comparison
Thank you for watching, we appreciate the feedback! ✈️
I liked the content idea for this video but how can one compare when you provide 650hrs/year for A318, a non specific hours/year for the A319 and 450hrs/year for the A321. Can’t really compare that way
Should be at 2000 to 2500 hours per year.
Can someone do Concorde?
The A321-200 of Cebu Pacific has 230 seats
Isn't the smallest Airbus the A220? And isn't that an A321 you show while talking about the A320?
Well you have just dashed all hopes of AstonAir ever getting off the ground
I thought it would be higher than that.... So I guess they're cheap, compared to what I was expecting.
cost per seat mile is a more useful number.
So what’s the hourly cost of their bigger brothers the A350 and A380 ?
I thought it would be a lot higher
So an A320 is less than a three-car class 195 DMU (204 seats, single class, rock hard seats)? Even an A321 is less than a typical four car DMU!
Do Boeing 737 ones mayne.
Can we have a per passenger per hour cost?
You sure can champion! Open your calculator, enter the hourly cost, and then divide by the number of passengers. This type of calculation is called division.
This proves how valuable air freight is as low cost Airlines like Jetstar and Ryan would never survive. I've thought that passengers were more of a social curtsey than necessity for Airlines for some time now as economy class is a burden to Airlines.
If economy passengers were a burden on airlines, how come Ryanair is so profitable as they only have economy class on their aircraft.
I think the reason why Ryanair is so successful is because they buy their aircraft at a significant discount, operate them at approx. 2,000 hours or more per annum (which is why they have quick turnarounds), charge separately for baggage, priority boarding and seat selection, sell additional services to customers, advance purchase their future fuel requirements, have a high occupancy rate, use secondary airports in some cases, etc...
The bottom line is that the Ryanair cost per hour is significantly lower than that indicated in the video, which is a simplistic presentation of operating costs.
And before anyone comments that Ryanair doesn't operate the A320, Beijing solely B737 operators, I think it is safe to presume both aircraft have similar operating costs, as otherwise one would have a clear advantage, which is not borne out by the sales figures.
Can't compare 650 with 450 hours... And hours flown is way higher in real world. Airlines loose money flying just 650 hours
Video shows an A321 where it should show an A320
So an A321 would cost more than 2 dollars and 60 cents every single second of flying time? That is insane.
Thank you for watching, be sure to tune in again! 😊✈️
Quite a ;ot of money. But much less expensive than fighters.
Make the same but with the A380.
Thank you for watching, we appreciate the feedback! ✈️
My last flight (AMM-LHR) was on an aircraft that then flew back, so that did 8 hours in the air that day. The Airbus flying my from Rhodes to Gatwick also notched up at least 8 hours in the air that day. Your figures are rather meaningless.
450 hrs per year works out to less than 10 hrs per week, good luck making money with that business model.
What about the A220?
the a220 isnt a member of the a320 family
how can budget airlines charge so little? surely they're making a loss?
yes, all low cost airlines are a charities :) why would you even want to make a profit?
How much is the cost of a A380? 😅
Let´s compare with a 737, to see, if Airbus is better.
450 hours a year is bullpoo. 450 a month is more reality.
This is a terrible analysis….. 450 hours a year is NOTHING for a jet like this. That’s only around 9.5 hours of usage a week! Airlines who fly these aircraft do that every 2 days!
Thank you for watching, we appreciate the feedback! ✈️
@@SimpleFlyingNews Why do you keep replying to questions with this inane comment?
It's all about bums in the seats. The more bums, the more money you make until voila, you are starting to make a profit.
Yeah really surprised with your data 😂
Well I guess this shows why the A318 was a flop
A totally pointless video - far too many variables involved in these calculations. Cost per plane will be different depending on these variables.
