    Good review mate, I rode a ural around aus 3years ago, done 19 thousand Kim’s, had such a fantastic adventure had a few issues but still loved it, they are a great machine.

    In 1998 I bought a dealer demonstrator 1994 Ural Tourist. Then they were all kickstart, drum brakes all round (but they were the easiest to interchange among all 3 spots). I had intended to remove the sidecar and use it as a solo bike but it was so much fun that I never took the sidecar off.
    I traded that for a 2000 Tourist. Still a 650 engine but better ignition and many quality improvements, later upgraded it to 750cc with the special upgrade package offered at that time ($2400 US for complete engine fully loaded with carbs, alternator, starter, air cleaner, and transmission assembled. You can barely buy just the transmission for that now.) Put a lot of miles on it then got a 2004 Retro sidecar unit, added a spare tire and luggage rack, windshields, and later put on a Harley Police Cruiser seat for me. A deep sump with a deep pickup that lowered the oil temp by 20 degrees F. (I have a temperature gauge mounted along with a tach, clock, and voltmeter).
    Over the years made a few more mods - had the sidecar repainted and bed-liner applied to the bottom and inside after the original paint faded due to being in the sun while I was at work. Made the sidecar quieter too. Added a trailer hitch because due to a bone issue I can't walk very much, so if I am going to walk around after I reach a place I take my power wheelchair along on the trailer. Slows down a bit but not as much as you would think, the trailer is very small (JUST big enough for the chair) and I just don't push it hard when towing. I still have that bike and it's doing fine, I was putting 10K a year on it when working but after retirement that has dropped a lot. More mileage on a trip but no longer making the daily commute.
    Other than general appearance the new bikes are almost nothing like mine, better fasteners, seals, stainless steel trim, powder coating, hundreds of changes to small items in the engine, fuel injection, etc. and the price has gone up as necessary to pay for these items. A much more dependable machine today and mine has been good.
    The only caution I would make is to look out for rust as Russian steel, if exposed, rusts pretty quickly hence the bed-liner on my sidecar. They may have addressed this, I just don't know for sure. On the other hand, the steel is more flexible than US steel so if you get a dent or ding there is a very good chance you can knock it back out.
    Still fun after all these years.

      Good stuff , thanks.
      Yeah I have noticed that bit of metalwork that is exposed to the elements seems to have a bit of corrosion , I’ll keep an eye on it.

    Great video! A couple of things… thanks for showing how the calipers spacers were placed, and I am really happy to see that you added the extra braces towards the front of the skid plate - well done.
    And most of all, thanks for the shoutout… made me feel like it is all worth it if I am able to help someone! I feel like a real channel now!!!

    A sidecar with reverse gear and shaft drive, what more could you want. Great fun to go just about wherever you. I wish I still had my Royal Enfield Classic 500 with the sidecar.

    Hello Keith. Nice to see your review. I was getting a bit concerned. Thanks for your "no frills" But entertaining experience. Great job . The mix of helmet cam and 360 is starting to work. Really like the old school "johnny be good" intro .Reminded me of back to the future.
    As you may know, delivery for us is out to November. In return, we get 2 into 1, high comp pistons and some downsides. On the plus side K37 as standard, and some other bits allowing tyre rotation. The price increase was modest thanks to Ural Australia. Talking GU here. Looking forward to taking delivery and a catch up. Thanks again.

    How you like 2 into 1 exhaust? Look very nice but so expensive. Just not sure

    • @CreakyRider
      @CreakyRider  2 года назад

      The exhaust is great , I can guarantee that if I had the standard exhaust I would have wiped them out by now.
      Just got back from 2 days away and got stuck a few times , it would have been bad with the lower exhausts.

    The Ural is nice looking however, I think you mentioned adjusting the valves. Is that normal after only 2000 k?

    • @CreakyRider
      @CreakyRider  3 года назад

      Yeah , I adjusted them on the first service at about 500km and I’ll check them again at about 3000km.

      @@CreakyRider They are mechanical solid lifters with pushrods and the surfaces mate during the break-in period, thus they are likely to need slight adjustment more frequently when new. After they bed in they get pretty stable, I check mine annually but have only had to adjust every few years. It's the easiest valve adjustment ever. Cold engine, pull the plugs and the inspection port. Remove valve covers. Rotate engine with kickstarter until TDC mark appears in inspection port. One cylinder will be at TDC ready to fire, the other will have just closed the exhaust valve. Adjust the TDC one, rotate the engine 1 turn, do the other one. Turn over and recheck each, then bolt 'er back up. After doing it a few times you can do it literally in 15 minutes.

    Why go one wheel drive?

    • @CreakyRider
      @CreakyRider  2 года назад +1

      When I bought my Ural , the 2WD models were just coming out and none in stock at that time , there was a long wait. So I went with the 1WD Ranger. I'd like a 2WD , but the 1WD is very capable.

    How far on a tank ?

    • @CreakyRider
      @CreakyRider  3 года назад

      I haven’t really tested it, but the tanks is 16 litres , so about 260km or more on the tank and then the 2020 Ranger comes with a 10 litre Jerry can. So I’d say I have about 420km range.
      If I was planning a long stretch or do what I usually do and get lost , I would carry another can or fuel bladder.
