  • Last summer we headed to the Ural HQ in Seattle to pick up a Ural Motorcycle for a 10-day trip down through the states to Los Angeles. We passed through 4 states covering 2,200 miles, largely off-road on the Back Country Discovery Routes.

    With a Ural it’s all throttle and very little clutch. Ural has come a long way. I had a 2005 Patrol and I currently own a 2010 Gear Up. My wife absolutely loves it and when I have my frustrating moments with it and mention to my wife, I think I’m going to sell it”, she loudly says,”No!!!” 😄 Ural is the most fun you can have in a motorcycle but it requires allot of tinkering. Not a big deal, it just the nature of the machine. Owning a Ural is a lifestyle. It’s not for the shy type as it’s a magnet for curious folk. It’s all good….

      This motorcycle is a legend. There isn't any computer in there. Everything can repair by yourself. My Dad had 3wheels Ural. I was a child and loved ride with him in passenger seat.

      I have a Russian friend that lives near me here in the United States. I expressed my interest to him about Urals. He said he wouldn't get one. He probably only experienced the really older models. I think I'll still get one especially a new one.

    The scenery is absolutely stunning, and you didn't trash mouth the Ural. I'm going to take a serious look at getting one for myself. I've been looking at them for a few years now anyway. I had a Globe sidecar hooked up to an old Beemer several years ago, soooooooo. I'm 75 years young, so a sidehack makes sense to me! Have fun on your rides, and yes, make as few rides on the interstates as possible.😂

I put on all my clothes and sat under the hand dryer in the bathroom at the little rest area I was camped at. it wasn't fun. RUclips has still converted it to a very high quality VP9 codec, while it converts mine to AVC1 which looks like shit, unless I upload in 2.7k and above, which uses all my data very quickly.

    • @TheSidecarGuys
      @TheSidecarGuys  Год назад +1

      Hi Hunter! In our experience, a Ural is great on snowy roads! But you wouldn't want it to be in 2WD constantly for this, there is no differential when in 2WD meaning the Ural just wants to go straight. 2WD is really used if you get stuck or something but 99% of the time it isn't needed. But would definitely be useful if you were really struggling in the snow. Hope this helps!
