I found a Dnepr MT-11 in a barn at an estate sale and purchased it. It was cheap because the engine was stuck. I wanted the sidecar and it's frame if the bike was not salvageable. After I got it home I got the engine unstuck and got it sort of running. I removed the heads and cylinders and found all sorts of assembly problems. Little wonder the bike had just 164 Km on the odometer. It was running poorly on just the left cylinder. While waiting a month for parts to arrive I fixed the leaking valves in the heads, honed the cylinders, resurfaced the cylinders where they meet the head gaskets, and unstuck the rings on the Pistons. The engine now runs perfectly and starts easily on a single kick. I love my Dnepr MT-11 with it's sidecar!
Nice to hear from you! n4zou! It seems like you have hands growing from proper place. MT KMZ Dneprs are really cool. It was my first motorcycle and I still love it. Thanks for supporting my channel with your comment. Cheers!
Wow I just realized I have been watching you way before the war. Hope all is well and may God be with you and your countryman.
How the world has changed since this video went public . I`m glad it`s still around .
Your photos shared in this video are fantastic! I currently have a Cozy sidecar attached to my Triumph T120 and have ridded about 8K miles thus far. Thanks for the Dnepr & Ural history lesson, much appreciated.
Good vid and yes Ural is alive and well in America with modernization . Keep up the great vids!
I love those original military style Urals .
Great vid. Got my Ural Gear-Up in 2005 for only $10,000.00 brand new. I'm surprised at how much the cost has gone up now. Love my bike and looking forward to some trips this summer.
Great bike! Happy rides!
big difference now though with new electronics, speedometer, fuel Injection, all around disc brakes, better tires and spare wheel interchangeability on all 3 wheels.. and beginning in 2019 the motor received several upgrades with even better fuel injection, more oil capacity, more precision pistons, rings and jugs..
Good video- great history lesson.. I have 2010 Ural.. Bought some metal leg guards from someone in Kiev. Love my bike! from Canada
Very cool!
In the USSR, sidecar motorcycles of the IZH-Planet and IZH-Jupiter brands were produced in large numbers. Their strollers were lighter and more modern in design (like the Honda flashed in this video). But, apparently due to finer iron, they are few preserved, rarely see.
I love my 2014 Ural M70. Very reliable, and fun to ride. :)
I have a 1998 1/2 URAL side car outfit Tourist. All the Russian parts are still working.I replaced helical gears and the drive shaft. Left cylinder broke and replaced that. Right cylinder broke and bent con rod . Over hauled the engine. Put 50,000 miles on the bike. Used it for daily transportation for 3 years due to leg injury. Fires on first or second kick. People walk pasterows of $50,000 HD CVO's to tell me how cool my bike is. New bike has lots of expensive upgrades like stainless steel exhaust system. German shocks and tires. Ducati ignition system. Brembo disc brakes. Italian wheels. EFI because of pollution controls.Wish they made a economical one to go along with the expensive one as a alternative. Wished it still came with the machine gun. Perfect for the Zombie Apocalypse.
Regardless of who saved Ural... those of us with them (my wife has a pre-FI Gear Up) are glad they were saved. Very unique bikes. While $18k sounds like a lot for a bike (and it is)... compared to other factory sidecar bikes in the US (or other 3 wheel designs) it's VERY inexpensive.
Ya because its not nearly the same quality..
Interesting video ;-) Thanks for you work always fun to see the history behind older brands.
Thanks for a very entertaining and interesting clip.
Bought one in Inverness Scotland and toured the Highlands. No trouble, except the very LOW OCTANE petrol needed...Luckily that's NO PROBLEM in the Highlands....Great machines....
Loved this I have a 2014 ural and ride and use it all the time. the older 650 are cool, like the solo idea of the ural, keep up the great work. so hard to find any Russian channels in English and google translate poorly. i was very interested in your take on the dnepr so i be watching and look forward to anything you send out. thanks
Thanks for your kind comment.
Will film my Dnepr soon.
Cheers!
@@DenysDavydov looking forward to it

Ural is totally different from the outers. slow clunky cool looking military style. Harley/BMW are able to do serious highway cruising.
Great channel Denys, I'm really enjoying your daily videos/updates.
Your country will 100% win it's freedom. 🇺🇦🇬🇧 P.S your shirt is awesome. 👍
Thanks for the video, today the price on my land for a Ural is 36.000€ I fucking love Ural since ever. But that’s a price that is unreachable for most people
Thank you Dennis for making this awesome video! I always love learning a bit more about where my 1972 Ural 650 came from! I am considering buying another Ural from Russia(or nearby) but I am not sure where I should be looking, are there any websites for buying/selling of motorcycles in russian/ukraine ? Thanks again!
Basilton I have many bikes I recently purchased a used 2017 Ural gear up from Heindl engineering in eaton, ohio talk to Jon or Dave they shoot the straight stuff on the bike as well as checking them look at web sight they have new and used as well as tech Tuesdays ,parts I got mine from them and shipped it to Georgia
so umm, what was the best? what about jawa, ic, triumph, chang jiang?
Ich fahre ein URAL Ranger Gespann und es ist wunderbar
I have a 1964 Ural love my machine.
Also build a V.W. trike.
Love that also .
Plus a 1969 Iron head hardtail chopper love that also.
I would like to get a Ural, but importing to my country cost the same as a excellent condition 90's Harley Electra Glide with factory sidecar.
I know the Ural is made for sidecar, but would the Harley be a better deal at the same price point?
How much would it cost to import an old ural to the USA from, considering the current state of things, probably like Romania or something?
Great video, man! End ... GREAT ENGLISH too !!!!
Many Thanks!!!!
@Road Home >>> At 07:51 in this video: Can I order a DNEPR or URAL that INCLUDES _HER??_
😄😄😄
Thank you 🙏, been looking for information on this bike
Ural is best, hands down
Hi Denys. Didnt know you were on utube, before Putins cowardly attack. I have a KMZ/Dnepr from 1969 formoly painted in Soviet colours. Nov the soviet stars are painted over in Ukrainian colours as a war trophy. Slava Ukraini.
You are wrong about Dnepr production, its haven't started until 1952, only Urals (M72) were made prior and during the war
How reliable are the new ones?
I think like an old Harley))) but it is getting better...
@@DenysDavydov I had a '72 FL. 5 riding days= one repairing day. Don't want that any more.
My wife puts a couple thousand miles a year on her 13 (last gen - still carburated) and has had zero issues. The key to longevity with the older models is treating it like a bike with 20hp - the bike will go 60mph but it's working too hard and won't hold up. She rides everywhere at 40-45mph ... MUCH better speed range for the older bikes. With the new FI bikes there's more power so maybe faster is now OK but I don't know how they fare on reliability.
Idk where you got that 18k USD but it was 18k CAN here in Quebec when I bought my 2018 in 2018, an M70
the updated motor came out in 2019, $18-20k is not un common
All is fine, but first M-72 was produced on Moscow motorcycle plant, which was evacuated to Irbit in face of German assault. Kiev motorcycle plant was founded afterwards.
Yyyep🤫😁
Do you know about Sidecar used with the Jawa 350 (Two Stokes)? I have a Jawa 350 and I am thinking about add a Sidecar...
They are awesome!
Hi! As far as I know Jawa used VELOREX sidecars ...
I have a ural patrol and a kawasaki with a DMC sidecar.
If any four of the companies made something like hero I was standing in line to get one
Hi, I live in Spain and I am looking for a Ural or Dnepr sidecar. I have seen the really atractive prices in Ukraine but for me is really dificult due to the language. Could you please help me finding one?
I would like to but I don't know all the process of exporting the motorcycle to EU. All this custom stuff and shipping. I will ask my mechanic, maybe he knows...
@@DenysDavydov Thank you!
@@DPerez-yp9zr Try asking on the SovietSteeds Ural forums.
Look on E bay, there is a seller in Portugal,
@@pikeywyatt Name? I could not find him. Thanks
The new Ural it's way too expensive
I say that all the time..Its not worth close too what they are asking for it..Get ready for the Russian ural fan boys too come after you..
Sadly I agree. and I'm an Ural Fanboy
I got mine cheap from a friend, luckily ($200) And still works to this day. Wish they dropped the price at least a tiny bit. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh
Maybe now, but I bought a brand new Ural 650 years back while I lived in Inverness (Scotland) With side car and a full compliment of spares it cost me 400 pounds sterling. A truely brilliant machine and though I since ridden a BMW and (to my shame) a Harley I'd swap them both for my old Ural....
It's all about getting a return on your investment. & risk. Kudos to the importer/distributor IMZ as they have done a marvelous job of upgrading their product. I say God Bless'em for being able to market this unique vehicle at this price point.~ General T 2006 Ural Patrol
I'm a ural fan boy and they are too expensive, I think only the dealers would disagree
Salut from Greece Russia
URAL the Best!👊💪😎🇧🇷

No mention of Jawa or Iž? Booo..
Haha. Next time, my friend.
Can you ride the bikes out of Ukraine into the EU if you buy one there? I would be very interested because I would like to buy a Dnepr soon and it seems they are a bit cheaper in Ukraine than in Hungary.
Personally I will not do that (don't have time for that). But I know the guy, who is selling this kind of bikes to EU.
@@DenysDavydov When I said "can you" I meant can a man... I didn't suppose that you ride across the border with a bike, I would do that. But I want to know if it's possible and legal.
Не покупай этот мотоцикл он плохой!!!Я имел хороший опыт!!!
@@zoltanfazekas5142
find on the Internet the rules for import and customs clearance of motorcycles in Hungary (or the EU?). these motorcycles were produced in terrifying quantities, so that it is difficult to find a Museum-preserved exempt in Ukraine, but it is possible.
Переведите пожалуйста что говорит за Днепр????
Шо то х,ня, шо то х,ня))))
У меня Днепр 16, хороший конструктор, люблю этот байк)
well the best is MW750 dude
KS750 Zundapp is piece of engeniring art.
А человек, который проехал 15 000 км на Урале через Монголию - это не МотоСанчо? =)
Именно он!
Urals are just too expensive. They used to be cheap in the 1970s [in the UK]
@Road Home >>> At 05:23 in this video: Is that a SOLID front fork on that motorcycle?
Change speed to 0,25 and be ready to stop after 7:45
Thanks for the advice...
@Road Home >>> For a non-Russian speaker like me, HOW do YOU pronounce _"Ural"?_
Spelling phonetically, I say "your-al" {"al" as in my first name, Allan}. However, it sounds like Russian speakers say "your'll"?
And remember:
(Q) What do you call a person who speaks TWO languages?
(A) Bilingual.
(Q) What do you call someone who speaks ONE language?
(A) _American._
😝😝😝😝
Just "Ou-ral". Урал😅
If you have the one, it doesn't matter how you call it, but you will have O-ral and A-nal with it. It will blow-job your brain with unreliable construction and lack of good spare parts.
But I like it 😜
The new ural has had substantial engine reinforcement and is probably almost as good as the old bmw,
LOL for the jury is out on that one
@@jimwortham8634 It definitely is, I just had one come in with severe rod knock at only 20,000. I myself am a BMW/Yamaha mechanic. (I know, weirdest combo ever. Probably the only one ever.) Guy brought it in while he was on a huge road trip. I guess I am as close to a Ural dealer as he could get in the middle of nowhere in Colorado.
I’m planning to buy old Ukrainian MT 10-36 “Dnipro” and restore it
BMW of corse.
Mam urala M63 super sprzęt 😁
Виявляється,я знаю англійську,в об'ємі,необхідному для розуміння розповіді про мотоцикли з боковим причепом))).Хоча в мене "Дніпро-Соло".
Superb!
Regarding the _landscape_ shown at 08:26 in this video: I have lived in North Carolina, USA, since 1995.
However, I was born & raised in St. Petersburg, FLORIDA, USA.
That said, all that SNOW & ICE? *_BLEH...._*
😁😁😁😁
Your talk so funny🤣😂
If you buy a brand new Ural, you have to rebuild the Engine completely before the first serios ride - scrap!
That is why I bought KMZ😆
Back in the 90's when they were first imported, but not now. My 2nd Ural, a 2018 M70 has been problem free for going on 2 years of daily use.
@King Earl >>> Most of what I have read online says the 2008[?] and _later_ models have good reiability if maintained properly.
Here's the list of motorcycles from the communist era, from best to worst:
1 MZ or ETZ 250cc eastern Germany
2 Jawa 350cc Czechoslovakia
3 Jupiter 350cc USSR
4 Ural 650cc CCCP
Change my mind, LOL.
Simson had a large share of the market too.
@@tdgdbs1 And you're right, how the hell, I forgot that little 50cc?I guess the Karpathia or something like that must be include in my list, also the Riga, both CCCP made.
@@tdgdbs1 Hi! I agree! Technically SIMSON was a masterpiece of the comunist motorcycle production (4 stroke engine!!!) But SIMSON (AVO or 425 S), was also very expensive.... And for people from outside DDR it was difficult to find those machines.
As soon as I saw the US dollar with Trumps face on it, I closed the video. After that bullshit, nothing you said mattered.
😂
Like many I found you because of your excellent videos documenting the genocidal russian war in Ukraine. I hope when this is all over you have the opportunity to do a motorcycle video with someone like Starsky as a throwback on your channel.
