Hey i have a question, i own a 13900k and mainly play mw3 wz. I set the PL1 and 2 to 253 watts and i have 10 fans , a 360mm aio and a cpu contact frame. In game my cpu is at 220-230 watts constant and my temps range from 72-78. btw the cpu is undervolted -0.05000. My question is, is that normal? I have constant Packet burst and my case fans reach 2000 rpm, its hella loud (LianLi fans and Software). Gpu is rx6950xt pure +..

I love the 7950x3d, maybe because I like tweaking it to my hearts content. I love full control of my system and because of what it offers. Although, I feel like for the average user who does not want to tweak and wants everything to work out of the box, the 7800x3d is the way to go. I’m certain once AM6 or whatever it’s called is out, the “issue”with the 7950x3d will be streamlined and fixed across the board. It’s very subjective about the 7950x3d I think it’s an awesome chip but it just requires extra steps to get working fully.

that's exactly the problem, i don't mind tweaking with my system, but the average consumer, even a lot of enthusiasts just want to plug n play the new cpu, update bios and call it a day, having to do tweaking, searching for a specific bios, then bios settings so the cpu runs properly, and still being somewhat unstable if something wasn't done properly or you got bad silicon, when getting a non 3D one, or the 7800X3D, or an intel chip requires little to no input after updating bios.

Honestly it's all down to getting the right settings down. Install latest bios and chipsets, do the usual bios stuff you'd do, install revi OS playbook to full debloat windows, then use balanced power profile + config file for cod.
For 7950x3d the extra step is process lasso + setting prefer cache in bios.

I ended up switching right after trying that. It worked well but I was using process lasso along with limiting second ccd to 5050, so I couldn't really tell a difference in how it worked long term. Overall, I'd say it could be a decent solution ontop of using lasso with it.

I just swaped from the 7800x3d, mainly because of stutters in a variety of games (FPS). I tried almost everything i could found related to this "issue" without success. RAM: 6000cl30, GPU:RTX4080.
Now I'm running i7 14700k with 7200cl34 and I can say 0.1% are indeed higher as well as temperature and power consumption, average fps are lower but then I play on 3440x1440 @144hz so I don't acually need the average fps to be at 300-400 fps since I am limited by my monitor and also by the GPU.

The stutter story came from Ryzen 3000 chips at the beginning of Warzone back in 2020. Persisted into Ryzen 5000 with about 75% of the issue fixed. Only game that was unplayable was Jedi Survivor at launch, 1% dips to 17 FPS while 13900K was about 65 FPS. Patch fixed that though

    • @Beefy-Tech
      @Beefy-Tech  8 месяцев назад +2

Yup... The whole dual CCD allocation issue was also huge as most people didn't tweak anything to make sure ccds wouldn't swap mid games. I had a 5900x and tons of issues due to that ccd bleed that'd eventually happen and cause terrible performance until a restart in warzone 1.
All that is easily fixable with process lasso today luckily lol.

Truth is, for Call of Duty games the 7800x3d has an amazing performance for high refresh rate and doesn´t need a 600€ Ram Kit to work well.

I think the 7950x3D is the best consumer grade CPU in the world if you know how to set it up and get the right RAM and manually configure the timings. I understand that all that can be intimidating to most, but it wasn't designed for most.
And if you want a 7800x3D with no fuss, just disable the second CCD and you have a 7800x3D. If you need the extra cores, then reenabled them.
But the difference in most games between the 7800x3D and 7950x3D is very small, so there really isn't ever a need to disable the second CCD. I think so many of us have become FPS chasers to a degree that we forget the difference between 300fps and 280fps isn't really a big deal. Once you hit a certain number you really don't feel it anymore.
P.S. I think the 7950x3D will improve at handling the CCD's correctly overtime as drivers are improved. It sucks that software limits our hardware to the degree it does, but it is what it is.

I love the 7950x3d but the fact it depends on software makes it have a big weakness when it comes to consistency as only 1 in 10 people do all the setup steps properly with it... Basically meaning most people don't have it set up correctly

I personally got tired of tuning my RTX 4090 + 7950X3D system all the time. Even updating chipset drivers of the mobo sometimes f'ed up the use of the right chiplet again. I have just set the max speed of the none Vcache chiplet to 5050. That way the vcache chiplet will always be given priority. In practice even when I use all cores for serious work, it makes not much of a difference since all core boost clocks don't go so high anyway.

7950x3d its actually the worst amd cpu since 3rd gen ryzen probably. Its just a moneygrab with amd forcing you to buy non3d ccds to have access to 5250 boosts on the 3d ccd. There is literally no point for this cpu to exist. 7950 should've been kept for 'multitasking & some gaming' and a better binned with higher boost/unlocked multiplier 8core for gaming.

    great vid on this topic.
framechasers has irked me for a long time with his subpar amd tunes, extremely expensive consult and overall is just an incredibly selfish and abrasive person. he'll ban on every platform available if you ever achieve better performance on an amd system and swear to you that his fucking 9600k oc'd to 4.4ghz will run faster than a 7800x3d, which is total and utter nonsense in just about everyway. and above all, if you have a problem with him he'll just call you a weirdo. just an absolute child with no capability of reflection.
i don't think he's wrong about everything he says of course. dual ccd amd chips sucked in warzone for a long time, zen 2 was absolutely overhyped in gaming by the mainstream, 1% lows in certain games are worse on amd systems, etc. tuned intel systems ARE awesome... it's just the new amd systems when properly tuned aren't really that far off either, and you DON'T need to get the best motherboard and memory for a lot of AMD platforms. but whatever, aida64 opens like 3 seconds slower on ryzen, so intel is clearly way better in everyway!
anyway, i appreciate you and your work in the niche ocing hardware space. cool to see system optimizers who aren't just scammers or aren't total sleezebags like framechasers.

To be fair dual ccd amd CPUs are still somewhat quirky and hard to work with, but they aren't a broken platform that doesn't work by any means indeed! Literally any dual ccd CPU can be fixed with any affinity setting program...and you don't need to affinity the whole PC as some would suggest...only the game launches and that's it lol.
