@@MC_1993 IMO Jocko is middle of the road economically and possibly slightly left of center socially from other podcasts he's been on. But he's 1,000% pro America and leadership and that dwarfs all other issues

Maybe it's because I'm not American but I don't understand how America can screw up so badly, how your President can't form a sentence, how your VP laughs at mention of Afghanistan and tells the Vietnamese "America is back," and how the military stands behind this, mainly talking about sexuality. Not to mention how the US regional commander have the SAS a dressing down for rescuing civilians.
As an American, I don’t understand it either. I sure AF didn’t/dont/never will understand this current govt of mine. It’s an embarrassment to all my family sacrificed for.
This general shouldn't be so hard on himself but I understand why he is, there's no way to double check the competence of all those under your command, there's certainly a certain expectation that those you command have been trained properly and will carry out the procedures to the best of their ability.
Just finished your book Extreme Leadership. My wife actually met Leif after he spoke at one of her doctoral classes which is how I came across your book. I have had leadership training before. However, this book far exceeded everything we covered in class. Thank you for your service and wisdom.

I have so much respect for this General, for one to show such humility in such chaotic circumstances just show's the depth of respect this man should be shown. RESPECT
My question would be..."What if you own your mistakes and vow to learn from them and do better but thats still not acceptable to others? What if they are still not happy and wont just accept you taking ownership? What else can you do?
You can't control what others do. You can only control how you react and move forward. Letting others control you will only hold you back. Push past their character however you see fit and that is what will make you a success. It's always what you do with what you got that pays off in the end. There is no better satisfaction than proving others wrong about you. Never give others the amunition they need to keep you down. Because that is all they are doing, punishing you because it gives them power over you. And never make the same mistake twice.
Your not understanding what extreme ownership is. It’s not saying I screwed up so others will say it’s ok. It’s not about the opinions of others. It’s about saying something needs to be acted on or corrected and I will take it on myself to do this. You can take take ownership of a mistake and find no forgiveness from anyone but you do it anyway because it’s the right thing to do.

Taking extreme ownership is illogical and insane. You are not responsible for the thinking and behavior of others like some kind of mass puppet master. Taking the burden of others upon yourself is madness. You are not strong and wise, you are just insane and mad. In addition, it is simply unethical to control and manipulate others. It is also unethical to assume the position of orchestrator, as it assumes you are superior than other humans, which you are not, and you are essentially forcing them into a scenario where they must give up all they are for you. Very sad.
