Spirituals, Ragtime, Jazz, Country, Gospel, Bluegrass, Folk, Rock n Roll, Doo-Wop, Soul, Funk, Disco, Punk, House and of course Rap and Hip Hop---all enjoy well documented African American roots coupled with undeniable Black American influence---whether directly or indirectly..
Latinos -- Puerto Ricans particularly -- please explain how you co-created or co-invented yet another installment in the legacy of Black Musical expression known as Rap and Hip Hop, yet didn't co-create or co-invent any of the elements or ingredients of the 14 or so African American music forms that preceeded it? Or why you were nowhere to be found and absent during the creative and inventive foundation outlining the forms of African American musical expression, brilliance and greatness throughout, or even prior to the previous 14 or so African American music forms that are mentioned above? Yet then, all of a sudden--and out of nowhere, lying latinos and jamaicans slither along and falsely claim latinos and/or puerto ricans and jamaicans co-created and co-invented Rap and Hip Hop 50/50 half n half (which is the evidence-free and utter nonsense being peddled by Dr. Derrick Colon, radical latino, Fat Joe and numerous other un-informed and envious latinos---which are claims that latinos never mentioned, verbalized or asserted during its inception in the early 1970's)---latinos claims of "50/50--half & half co-creation and co-invention just don't add up---it makes no sense and are increasingly coming under heavy scrutiny which is leading to these claims being easily debunked--widespread. Nice try though latinos, puerto ricans and jamaicans.

As an NYC native who was actually there, this colon character is just *STRAIGHT LYING!!!!!!!* 😍 I grew up during the birth of hip hop culture, *ALLLLLLLLLL 5 ELEMENTS!!!!!!!* #1, my father was an actual Brooklyn DJ who went by DJ Watts from the very start of hip hop, late 60s, early 70s. I remember he had giant speakers all though the house bigger than the doors that he builded himself, so spare me the Jamaican sound system lie. 🙄 As we all know, Brooklyn has the tightest DJ's during the start of hip hop, these are just facts. #2, my uncle, (my father's little brother) my oldest sister & my uncle's bff, who's B-Boy photos are used in Tariq's documentary, was & is a 5%'er & my oldest sister was an Earth, a major & almost most important element of hip hop bcuz they were security & made sure the wrong ppl didn't get in to start problems. I couldn't get out of the house to go play without knowing the mathematics of the day or there was hell to pay from my uncle & my sister. Graffiti was *EVERYWHERE* in NYC in the 70s/80s, I loved watching trains pull into station to see the art of it. Most Hispanic ppl lived in the Bronx & *DID NOTTTTTT FVCK WITH US LIKE THAT BACK THEN!!!!!!! WHY DJ THEY KEEP LEAVING THAT PART OUT OF THEIR FAIRY TALES OF BEING 50/50 WITH HIP HOP!!!!!!* Bottom line, Hispanics/Jamaicans had absolutely *NOTHINGGGG* to do with creating hip hop, *PERIODT!!!!!!!* Not to mention that Hispanics didn't even mess with us like that! They were ty busy trying to be John Travolta on that Saturday Night Fever vibe & kissing 💋 WS azz to be down with them. Now our the clear blue, they did it 50/50? Stop the cap! When discussing the origins of hip-hop, the conversation often neglects the racial dynamics of the 70s and 60s in New York City. Hip-hop in New York City emerged from the rivalry between the Black Spades and the Savage Nomads, two opposing gangs. During that time, there were numerous areas that were off-limits.

I think both sides are wrong . The way hip hop historians teach hiphop is missing a lot of information. I figured out hip-hop true origin . None of these historians know what hip hop actually means in the right context. Everyone is in a hurry to include themselves and exclude others . New yorkers you have dropped the ball , how do you not know who the original breakers were . Seems like nobody was paying attention when the money came.
The original b boys had to be gang members for 1 because b boying was a better resolution of fighting without violence . Hip hop originally was started to stop gangs from killing each other . Rap MCs and bboys and bgirls came into hip hop to show I can beat you with intelligence and art . This is what made hip hop become iconic. Anytime a people or culture changes from barbaric savagery to using their minds to solve problems it has reached civilized .
Hip hop stood for the civilized as opposed to uncivilized. Hip hop is still young and new york is the home because its the first city to try to battle and resolve conflicts on wax. This is what made those NY mcs ,breakers, graphiti artist, and djs become legendary. The music is secondary to the movement of hip hop. The furious 5,public enemy , and the east coast family were teaching the foundations of hip hop but the music business was killing it . Ll cool j was the epitome of a modern civil mc while tupac was positive and negative

Then I suggest you watch the videos of Batch, Mister Wiggles and the other Nuyoricans say that the first breakers that they saw were Black Americans !

They said, "Afro americans" were the first they saw breakdancing. Yall fail and get debunk at every turn, and it's easy because it's not your culture

Where are all these black breaker videos because the days of bambatta is more or less when breaking started 74 or so but all ui see dancing in these Nambatta videos are Puerto Ricans with afros or did you forget ,..we are part African! Your Break Dance csme from the sub Culture before whichbwas Rock or otherwise known as Uprock ... the breakers have the same Rock sytyle but they call it Top Rock ... Rock dance is the basis of Breaking all yhe moves done before you touch the floor. WE HAVE BEEN ROCKING SINCE THE LATE 60S... YOUR BREAK DANCE AND TERM BURNING CAME FROM ROCK DANCE... YOU DIDNT PULL BREAKING OUT OF A HAT THIS IS THE BASIS OF BREAKING ROCK OR UPROCK ..... YOUR DANCE CAME FROM THE SUB CULTURE BEFORE REMEMBER THAT!!!!

You are very well uninformed. Couple points. Asking for videos from early 70s means you probably grew up in the age of smart phones. You say there are videos of early 70s Afro-Rican breakers - where?
The term ‘burning’ absolutely does not come from ‘rocking’. You probably got that from Papo. ‘Burning’ is/was a nationwide Black American term associated with snapping or the dozens, it goes way back.
Breaking does not come from Rocking. The Get Down, Go Off, Burning and Breaking come out of Black America. ‘Rock’ moves were brought into Breaking later. The foundations of Rock are BA dances to BA music.
