The Overdrive Custom from Rola Amplifiers takes a Dumble-style approach to refining your clean and overdriven tones with a feature set that goes above and beyond. This all tube head features a 50w switchable to half power platform using 2 El-34s but these custom amps can be ordered with a pair of KT-88 bringing it to 100w or 6V6s for 20w watts switchable to 10.
The Overdrive Custom starts with a high headroom clean channel and a bevy of tonal control that make it not only a rock n roll machine but a pedal platform for any genre. Controls include a 3 band EQ plus a power amp cut and plus a bright switch to match with any guitar. Plus the D-style Jazz/Rock switch alters the voicing and gain structure while a powerful low-mids switch tightens up or fattens any instrument.
The footswitchable overdrive channel engages an all tube overdrive stage with separate vol and gain controls in series, so it always retains the tone you’ve dialed in clean, just with more girth and sustain. The overdrive bias at the rear sets the maximum overdrive possible, helpful if you just want to use the drive channel as a clean boost or full-on lead channel.
Like all Rola Amps, the Overdrive Custom is hand-wired one by one using turret board construction and with great attention to detail in Seattle. The Overdrive Custom uses USA made Mercury Magnetics transformers, mil-spec pots and switches and high quality F&T and SoZo caps. I own several Rola Amps. It’s like having a Two Rock without the unreal cost. Plus Derek that makes them is Super Cool and will make the amp to your particular needs. I have add XLR Out with reactive load so I able to run the amplifier studio silent into a mic pre.
