I loved that movie and found this song because of it. Where she reads the letter and her eyes tear up and she slides down the wall, actually had that experience although it was a phone call. Knew right then, the love of my life had slipped through through my hands and I was to blame for that. He passed away before I could tell him what he really meant to me. I believe I will see him again one day and maybe we will be again as we were when we were young and so in love.
The ltr was from her mother. Telling her one of her sisters had a baby before her. Louis and Marie did not conceive for years after marrying. So she started an affair with an officer. Louis was instrumental in the American revolution. But then was slaughtered in the French revolution. They left their heir. A little boy. To starve to death. The only one to survive was their daughter. Who lived abroad.
each time that I hear this song I fall completely in LOVE with the adorable Robert Smith..... its just the way I smile, you say, you say....... Love you Rob; you make me able to face every day and continue on, you are an inspiration to me in so many ways
I would have been a royalist back in that day Marie Antoinette, Queen of France yes she was human and so young she loved fashion and gambling but she was so brave throughout her latter years Her Mother Empress Marie Therese would have been so proud of Antoine s courageness
Great clip. Haven't seen the movie, but France is my second homeland...liked the Cure very much while in high school, and in France this was also very popular band...So i guess real Marie Antoinette will enjoy this song as well... in the paralell world, maybe ? ;-)
Her Mother, the Queen of Austria, tells Marie in no uncertain terms that if she doesn't or can't use her feminine charms for intimacy and bare a son, her "Position there is in Jeapardy." PS-Her mother also was a catalyst and arranged the political marriage with France...
When I hear that song, i cry....
I saw the Cure in 1989 in Grenoble.
What a unforgettable memory!
Kirsten Dust and this song.....
The video editing matched the song perfectly, you deserve an award for this.

music and images do not fit together. There is so much more to say.The music is much deeper than these superficial images.
