I believe it's the Ethereal and Spiritual feeling in the song which truly takes command of your senses that you stop and give it your undivided attention. You're enveloped and taken on a Psychedelic voyage of your own images. It is truly magical! We Love You Robert James Smith!
Agree 100%. I’ve been told a few times by people that they find it depressing - then I’ve asked them to listen to it again and to realise it’s more about that moment of hope you can grab hold of in the worst situations. It’s similar to Everybody Hurts by REM in that regard; it acknowledges the pit of despair you can find yourself in - but reminds you there can be a route out, via yourself or others. It unashamedly talks about the stormclouds looming, but then then points your eyes towards the fractures of sunlight breaking through… I’m not a great writer, and AJ said this in way fewer words and far more expressively - but I agree 100%, Plainsong lifts and calms me like no other….

All the best modern post rock bands want to sound like this but can’t surpass its greatness. Long live The Cure and Robert, the greatest goth poet of our times.
Das ist der Song im Abspann von "Toni Erdmann". Supergeil. Ich mag The Cure seit meiner Jugend. So tiefsinnig, dazu die einizgartige Stimme von Robert Smith und diese ehrlich melancholischen, morbiden Texte. Einfach schön um mal an nichts zu denken und einfach zuzuhören.

Sooo beautiful ! Still the haunting sound of The CURE ! Love this band : one of the greatest since 1980
The cure has been engrained deep in me since my teens. 50 next year. Have loved mad Bob almost all my life . Please don't let what I am reading be true
This song is the key that opens up the doorway into my mind ta go and walk to all the places I once was smelling dejavu smells seeing flashbacks of my yesterday still tasting the salty heartbroken tears of my youth the song ends and the door locks 🔒 I will always treasure this song 🎵 ♥
such a beautiful song
All the best modern post rock bands want to sound like this but can’t surpass its greatness. Long live The Cure and Robert, the greatest goth poet of our times.
This song completes me! Thank you Robert, you’re so beautiful and loved; my life would be less without your soundtrack to see me through it...
This sound and video makes me move and cry of joy and sadness in the same time ... . Great ...thanks Cure
The most beautiful song ever ....
Robert Smith’s lyrics - emotionally deep, amazing.
Das ist der Song im Abspann von "Toni Erdmann". Supergeil. Ich mag The Cure seit meiner Jugend. So tiefsinnig, dazu die einizgartige Stimme von Robert Smith und diese ehrlich melancholischen, morbiden Texte. Einfach schön um mal an nichts zu denken und einfach zuzuhören.
This song makes me cry
Beauty, majesty, genius. Such an amazing song. Uplifting and inspiring.,
I cried when I lost this song in my ears.i know love is real only when u are Young
1:43 always great to see the front row of any gig - the hardcore Cure fans are out in force !
...one of the most musically beautiful ever...xxoo..
I want this played at my funeral
And I want this played at my trial...quoting the great Nick Cave:"Your funeral my trial!"
