Lyrics:
Give me your eyes
That I might see
The blind man kissing my hands.
The sun is humming
My head turns to dust
As he plays on his knees
As he plays on his knees
And the sand
And the sea grows
I close my eyes
Move slowly through drowning waves
Going away on a strange day
And I laugh as I drift in the wind
Blind, Dancing on a beach of stone
Cherish the faces as they wait for the end
Sudden hush across the water
And we're here again.
And the sand
And the sea grows
I close my eyes
Move slowly through drowning waves
Going away
On a strange day.
My head falls back
And the walls crash down
And the sky,
And the impossible
Explode
Held for one moment I remember a song.
An impression of sound
Then everything is gone
Forever
A Strange Day.

This song is very hypnotic 😮
He is a true poet.. Robert will never grow old. He will forever remain eccentric, dark, fascinating, absolutely beautiful boy with romantic soul. He will never leave his tragic kingdom made of strange dreams..
Yeah No Doubt
why the hell hasn't he gotten the nobel prize in literature yet??
I don't know.. :(
@Allow me apparently their new album which was SUPPOSED to come out last year is kind of like disintegration and is darker. . . kinda like this stuff combined with disintegration. i hope it's true
@Allow me ugghhh great. i've barely been a fan for two years since i discovered them at seventeen and based on that episode maybe take his words with a grain of salt. in one song (all i want?) i couldn't tell if he's saying "all i want is to hold you like a dog or doll". i googled the lyrics and he said somewhere that they misprinted it as "dog" and he thought it was hilarious and let them continue. . . sure bob, whatever you say.
Robert is a genius, no doubt about it. On his 50th birthday, David Bowie said The Cure is one of the most eccentric british bands .... Yeah, Dave, you got it!
Bowie would know wouldnt he?

@@davidthomas8062 Sorry but i am too dumb to understand your reply my friend . Please elaborate and enlighten me.
And my beautiful beloved immortal David would 😍
The Cure- just one of the greatest of all time
No question
This song is so wonderfully haunting. One of their best songs.
This is one of their most insanely good songs.
The Versión of this song in trilogy Berlin 2002 is amazing , incredible!!! Love this song
Yes, this and a song called Charlotte Sometimes are quite haunting.
I’ve always wanted to cover it
A Strange Day and A Forest... two songs that never leave my mind.
Evi Mynx same here , such emotion powerful songs
Same, as well as Push, Disintegration and Before Three.
Evi Mynx and Fascination street
Evi Mynx same!!!!
Along with "Prayers for Rain"
Robert Smith will always hold a special place in my heart. His music allowed me to live, express myself and not commit suicide. Thanks!!
***** And The Smiths.
***** don't do it be strong, as a new day has come to u!!!
+Jeff Swan Thank you for making the right choice Jeff. Idk you but i am very happy to know you fought the depression of the riper and over came what you were going through, and The Cure was the perfect choice to turn to with making this turn around in your life. Considering this comment is 6 months old now, i hope to hear from you that you are still doing well and are happy. With best regards.. Char♥
Quite true. The Cure helped when no one else could.
My thoughts exactly!
I can't decide which is my favorite Cure song! This is just sublime!

One of the most original bands in Music History...
Robert is such a beautiful creature..
well said, judyth!
a true gift..
he was my inspiration to start writing music. So much love for him.
Lucid Rivers
Damn right. His talent and inspiration is little matched. 1978 - 2016 the Cure forever.
He is indeed a talented person, a genius of his time, I feel a lot of respect for him and what he achieved
Robert is so magic. And the way he moves his little arms, he's like a little goth kitten. So soft and feely.
Em L a little goth kitten is very amusing
yes!
+rina m canção muito Boa pra se recordar
Ha
@@knightsodark6664 the cure were never Goth, they came from punk roots
Such a privilege to enjoy music together with your child. My son is 17 and has loved the Cure for a few years now. He plays electric guitar and tells me stuff about Robert's guitar sound and technique that I never even knew (even though I've been a fan since the early 80's). Such a gift from the heavens. Thank you 🧡
Omg same here
Me and my dad sometimes drive around at night, nowhere specific just cruising. We listen to The Cure, Depeche Mode, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, Echo and the Bunnymen, Duran Duran etc, he used to listen to them back in the 80's and 90's and now his only daughter loves all those bands. Its nice to bond with your parent/parents over music.
👏👏👏👏
🧡
I’m jealous of u people in the comments having nostalgic memories to these songs. My parents did not listen to this kinda stuff so the cure is completely new to me
It's always new.
The older I get the more I love The Cure.
same here
yeeeessss
As I get older, I realize I didn't appreciate them enough when i should have 😢
Class of '89
Literally just told a friend this before playing this lol
So do I
Loved the 80s music, still love it. The Cure was at the top of that list. We had a tape, VHS tape with The Cure videos and watched it over and over at times with friends. This was one of the videos on there and brings back so many great memories. Loved that era of music, the best music era in general.
Born in 1971. I had the privilege grown up with such AMASING music and Musical Artist's. All through the 70's, 80's, 90's, and up to 2020!...im a FOSSIL! Yesterday's music puts today's music to shame. Not much real talent today. Yes ppl can sing, ppl can dance, but most are internet puppets with recycled music.
I love his music, his character, his dark music videos, everything. What an inspirational man.
Nothing quite like vintage Cure! Memories of my youth when this album came out flood me to my core every time I hear it...some painful, some joyous...but always reaching me on a level I'll never quite be able to express. Robert Smith is my idol! Thankfully we share the same birthday.
Probably the most amazing song ever written.
No probably about it. This song is brilliant, and intense, and hauntingly beautiful.
Hello, How are you doing? It’s nice seeing you here
I'm so glad the cure is in my life. I couldn't live without them.
Michael Boyer Me neither oh my goodness! I love the cure soo much
Neightet do I
Robert Smith is untouchable
The best cure song
Absolutely Genius
Strange day-so sad,so melancholic,
It's typical The Cure
my head falls back and the walls crash down
and the sky and the impossible explode
held for one moment I remember the song
an impression of sound
and then everything is gone forever
some of the most important words of my entire life.
Never heard this song until 2 days ago... Now I can’t stop...
..yeah it happens like that when you first hear Cure songs. You are immediately drawn in and want more.
This and Charlotte Sometimes are so haunting!
Tristan Thomas They're almost identical. I prefer this one.
Tristan Thomas read THE Book! A good read!
Tristan Thomas Agreed!
And don't forget hanging garden 😍
Tristan Thomas Agree with that. Robert is a bloody genius!
Take me back to sad times, happy times, but staying in sad times are happy times to me...
In homage to my sister Sylvie. Died at 20.
I listened to this song over and over again with my walkman....
Love that little guitar riff... so good. I was lucky to see them perform live on 6/10/16 - the best night of my life. The Cure are SO good live. I hope everyone gets a chance to see them on this tour.
Sammie Elise thank u
Sammie Elise I wish I had the pleasure to see them live 😔
I was there too! Chi-town baby!! PHENOMENAL!!
Samantha Wilton i was fortunate to see their first show back in 78 or 79 in a small club. My fucking god i wish i could go back.....

I wasn't a big fan back in the day, but their music has definitely grown on me as I've grown older.

Yes friend such better times class of 2015 , didn't have internet till I was 15 , this sorta vibe help raise me
their music is so simple yet so touching... their tones are unforgettable
Simple? its so layered you find something new years on.
Everyone needs to get there concert tixs ASAP! This truly is worth ur money. They hardly tour. Like every 10 years. We are not getting younger...Time to get lost in the music and shut the world out
See y'all at Madison Square! :)
Got my tix for tomorrow night in Chicago!
they played Vancouver a few weeks back - 34 songs incl 3 encores. amazing

I cannot believe I am going to have the opportunity to see them live in 5 days I'm so..words can't even describe the feeling
whaat are they touring rn??
***** YES!!
Awesome is the feeling... :)
Mi canción preferida de The Cure
I'm sure that I've contributed to at least 200 of the 10 million views on this video alone. This song helped me through a really dark time in my life, and one of the most difficult/heart breaking decisions I ever made. Somehow Robert found his place in that mess, and brought me comfort with his voice and lyrics. A true musical and lyrical poet that puts into song so perfectly what the human soul so profoundly feels and thinks about. I'm forever thankful for their contribution and presence. They're one of the best bands out there.
Nope. Your isp is only logged once. Science.
Think I've made up the rest Nadia!
My favourite Cure song.
The Cure has defined the sound of an entire era and has gone further than that, it is a phenix and Robert Smith is a great artist, totally timeless.
hi my friend balbina viola
one of the best bands ever
The best.
Ok I just confirmed at 100% that Robert is the most beautiful man that I've seen in the whole world
too bad what's her name beat me to it, i would marry him.
This song is so hypnotic..
Two months ago one of my best friends took his own life away on a strange day, just like the one in this our beloved song.
He hung himself, and the toughest part is still imaging the sharp blow to his neck, the violent crack by which his life ended and everything went away forever.
No recollection of a song.
No impression of sound.
He gave up even the grace of the most beautiful music we had ever heard.
Now I sense the word "pain" for the second first time.
Rest in peace, F.
"Now I sense the word "pain" for the second first time. "
It is not your fault...or it was?
That is so sad... I felt like topping it a few times in my twenties. Took years to get out of a black hole. None of my friends really bothered and my family made it worse. You see everyone gets on with there lives no one really knows how you feel they just talk about you to others or take the p**s
I lost a friend through suicide many years ago, you never stop asking yourself why didn't I know.
Stay safe.
when you have chronic depression that sometimes makes it hard to get out of bed their music is the only thing keeping me alive.
I can't get this song out of my head and I really don't want to
I listened to this song at 15 and it made me so wistful and daydreamy, even though i was such a melancholy teenager! It's as if I knew somewhere deep down that I'd listen to this song again 25 years later, in a stronger and wiser place, finding comfort in its strangeness as always. And introducing my fifteen year old daughter to it!! That guitar at the end is so sublime x
+becky lingwood
My kids (19 and 6) loves The Cure :)
My favorite band since 30 years
+mari david
My absolute beloved band for 36 years. My brother's too..we are going to see them in Sydney in July, it will be a life highlight for me. We have 'early entry tickets in front of the stage. My brother had their every release on vinyl as a teen, & in his 20s.
Enjoy the show, I'm seeing them in a week and I can't wait!
Well, they were AMAZING. We were 4 metres from Robert. Incredible show.
Excellent!!! I saw them in St. Paul (3rd row center). It was the closest I've ever sat at a concert and it was well worth it! Robert and the boys are amazing live! I hope to see them again:)
Every album from Robert has sparked my creative mind. Every day my favorites songs change with my mood.
Long Time ago.......
The Cure (let's not forget the other band members that made it possible) sparked a lot of people creative minds, some of them even made it in some way into the music business. Lush or the Cocteau Twins for instance - two of the band Smith likes to play their records.
You sound rudderless, then. Every day!!
Dieses Lied ist so schön, dass es wehtut. Ich liebe the cure und alle ihre Songs.
Genau so fühle ich es
The awesome Robert Smith is the greatest philosopher and poet of pop music and the lighthouse of my Life since i was in my teens
On of the best song of Cure
Triangles holy hour
Saw them two nights ago (23/07/16) Amazing. Played a three-freaking-hour set, 30 songs all up. Best gig Ive ever been to. Seriously, I don't know how many dates are left on this tour, but if you can, gets tickets. Its bloody brilliant.
Envy!
I saw them twice, some years ago. And they also were the best gigs i´ve ever been to.
awesome!
I saw them In Norway. Yup, great!
Seeing them again in Paris on Nov 15th. Bought these tickets a year ago!!!
Always take The Cure for their collective creative genius... they're not doom mongers or wrist slashes they're creative, intelligent & musically gifted men who have lived life and tell it through such beautifully crafted music. Robert Smith is an Icon for all time 👍
Love all these old video snippets.
I'm 17 years old and it makes me really sad that I wasn't born earlier to listen to this amazing music
Update: 6 years later and people are still commenting on this. I know that Noone cares how old you are and to what kind of music you listen to. :) we just have a good taste because this song is still great!
You can listen to it now???? What does it matter if it isn't popular?? Though, I wish the Cure started in our time so that the quality of the audio was better...
+xXCrowwyXx Yes I do! I dont care if it´s popular. It´s just sad that many people think I´m crazy to listen to this kind of music. But who cares? I love it

I used to be creeped out by the cure but now I’m in my 40’s and very interested
The Cure are dark beauty personified.
its something your loved ones most likely
never understand,.
I actually got into The Cure after discovering this track. Absolutely amazing
I grew up in the middle of nowhere from the late 70s to early 90s. Thank you Columbia House for being my musical dream come true...and thanks to my mom for paying for it. I still have all my Cure cassette tapes. 🙂
Que viva The Cure y el gran Robert smith!!!
The Cure é uma das melhores bandas do mundo.
Un día extraño será aquel en el que me deje de gustar esta canción. Es geniaaaaalllll
I love the cure
Another Cure masterpiece. Nothing strange about the prolific genius of Robert Smith...
My childhood would have sucked without the cure
mine too
Childhood? so you listened to the cure as a lullaby or something? hahaha... you must have been a very dark kid
no i haven't been C:
Mine too Stacy! I have a brother 15 years older than me who listened to the cure. I was 2 years old when I started loving them and Pornography was one of my favorites. We would go on road trips and my parents would be annoyed because I would throw a fit if they turned it off. I went to my first concert of theirs when I was 9. And yes, I was a dark child lol. But I love listening to Roberts music and it brings back so many childhood memories. After me and my wife got married, Mint Car was playing as we were announced as Mr. and Mrs. No other band could give me what the cure has through the years!
Stacy Korinek My 22+ adulthood would have sucked w/out the Cure. Peace.
The Cure is probably one the most underrated bands of all time, and my favorite band of all time.
Underrated? Man in what planet? They're one of the most famous "alternative" bands of all time absolutely no doubt
Lol underrated …ROCK ROYALTY. ❤️ The Cure as do many.
They're about as highly rated as a band can get lol
No underrated here..respected amongst all
Only underrated by those unfortunate not to have heard their music or haven’t the fortune for the music and lyrics to resonate through their lives as they have done to us fans
Wow! That music! Wow! That music with that percussion baseline! That guitar music to! Wow!
Love his echoes in his voice....
Incredible song. Has a theme that reminds me of McCarthy's The Road. Guitar line is so strong and yet desolate and distant. wow, one of the best guitar sounds, riff. Shit I'd go on if I didn't know id be pissing ppl off
He makes music that describes my soul that i can’t explain but feel so immensely
For real...
love THE CURE
esencial amor justicia
Thanks robert. Fermons les yeux
As a young Goth, i came to love The Cure. As Robert stated they have never seen themselves as a Goth band and i have to say, i never did either. But it didnt stop our Goth subculture adopting them as ours, in the early days we made up most of their audience... over time though we knew The Cure grew too big for any subculture let alone Goth. At a Cure concert these days, its great to see generational families and friends, no matter what influences brought them together, enjoying Robert and his beloved The Cure!
He's FOS to deny the goth aspect to his look and the dark toned nature of much of their music; esp. on albums like "Pornography" and "Faith". Didn't stop him from playing into all the $$ they got from goth/darkwave fans.
Absolutely gifted, I love the cure, they touch a part of me that no other artists can, or ever will...
I'm fairly new to the Cure, They are in my top 3 favorites. ♥
the cure made me not feel like a freak. goth was a new thing when I was in school and I fell in love with it cause that is how I see the world dark and beautiful the happy people scare me still I'm goth for life
+Kristen Sterzenback But now a lot of the teenagers in my school are all emo. I like a lot of different music, but I prefer this stuff over some 23 year old that sounds 14 screaming at me.....

Esa guitarra a partir del 1:38 es de lo mas bello que se ha dado a luz en la musica
One of many classics among the Pornography album. Truly The Cure at its darkest best.
didn't realize how much he looks like Ben Affleck especially at 1:13. one of my favorite bands of all times! true pioneers influenced so many great bands.
for sure Another day and this one are gold for ever...
Love that guitar riff. Amazingly atmosphereric and harrowing when it comes in alone at 3.17

IMO their best song
Robert Smith the frontman of The Cure since 1978 . Love the man and the group really
There's a hook to this song that drives ever deeper into my soul. Maybe it's from all the days that have passed since the innocent 80s. So many memories good and bad.

Ésto es Dark Rock sin vueltas.
Sin poses.
Realmente sentido.
Tremendo álbum de The Cure,en mi opinión el mejor.
Yes!!! They are a terrific band. Love this song . They also have a great category of songs. I was always a BIG Depeche Mode fan 🌹 The Cure and Depeche Mode have a special place in my heart ♥️ I grew up listening to there music at home 🏡 and at work. No I'm not goth but just a big fan . My name is PAULIE 😎 I'm from Michigan age 48 years old.
Dark, moody, beyond great! This one and A night like this! Golden memories!
The Cure.. For Me Gods Cure!
The Lost 80'..... So Sad!! The Strange Dark Clubs in Tel-Aviv..
And The Cure are our Oxegen!
Yes, the song belongs to Pornography, one of their best albums, with The Top, and the maybe forgotten but great, Kiss me Kiss me Kiss me that begins with "the kiss" a song that I can´t listen to very often, because it affects me deeply with the lyrics and the incredible intro that let Smith sing only when the guitars have reached places of other world. It's near the pain and the best place to stay forever. The music must transcend today and also in 20 or 100 years. When the emotions are the same and the hair of your nape continues to bristle, you have music.
Agree top pornography 17secs also km km km. O wait!!! Faith HOD. ..I GIVE UP lol...
The Cure's music has been strangely comforting & uplifting for me for decades. No matter how sad, angry, despondent, hurt, anxious, numb, it transports me to the higher realms of imagination & a sort of bliss. This song especially, magickal.
Robert Powell ,
That's me!!!!
+Marcel God bless you friend.. Thanks to you I listened to this epic track (The Kiss)
This song confirms the epicness of this band.
I have seen The Cure two times, but its been a long time. However, both shows were absolutely brilliant and they didn't fend away from playing some of my obscure non-hit favorites. Good show(s)!!!!
This is everything that sums the Cure and Robert Smith up from day one till the present day
