At 4:55 when you remove the lower belt, did you loosen the screw first? I'm trying to remove mine but I don't know how much force is needed. I'm pretty sure my brushed need replacing. Thank you so much for sharing this!!
What is a pausy / pazzy? Screwdriver? Spell that please? Where can I buy order one? Also in order to take the lower belt off, do I need to loosen the lower belt first? Or peel it off with my fingers as you are showing in video? I'm just getting into learning to make my own repairs and I really appreciated this video since I just bought a used 810. Also...My knob (Drop Feed Control) on front of the machine for the raising and lowering of the feed dogs does seem to lower the feed dogs, can you do a video about fixing that and or tell me how to oil that to get it to work? Can the bottom of the machine come off to get at it? Thank you!
Thanks for your easy to follow video. I have the same machine. The light bulb blew a few weeks ago & I just replaced it with a new one. I looked at the capacitor & like you said it is bulging a little bit & there is a small amount of fluid. I would like to replace it when this one decides to "blow up". Where can I find a replacement in NZ? I live in the South Waikato but travel to Tauranga so I will also check out the Bernina shop there. They do repairs but I am trying to maintain this myself using your videos. I will find your other video & follow the cleaning & oiling steps to fix a noise when the foot peddle goes up & down. I just have another question- when I thread a bobbin with cotton at the top, the needle still goes up & down but it shouldnt do. I think I accidently turned one or both of the wheels on the right too far & now something is stuck?? Do you have a video on how to reset the wheels to make the bobbin thread correctly? A link would be great if you can share it. Thanks in advance. Love the Kiwi ingenuity 😁
The capacitor assembly is not available as an 'off the shelf' item. They are made up of four separate capacitors. At a pinch, you can remove the capacitor set completely and use your machine. Some modern bulbs are very flimsy and blow very easily.
@@InStitches Oh dear that's a shame. I'm here because I think my capacitor has blown. I only had it repaired a year ago - capacitor replaced. So I bet it's a different capacitor in the set 🙄 I'm in the UK and our regular service man has had a bereavement so I was hoping it might be something I could do myself. Hey ho!
I've the same Bernina, unfortunately the needle stand button is stuck. It cannot switch right and left. Could it be repaired, and how? Thanks for showing this handy information.
I have a question. I love your videos, you explain everything so clearly. Unfortunately I haven’t found a resolution to my problem yet. The hand-wheel on my Bernina 810 turns freely, but the drive shaft doesn’t turn. Can you help me?
More than likely the stop motion clutch is not working correctly or is not tight. Make sure to tighten the big knob inside the hand-wheel, on the right side. Thanks.
@@InStitches Thanks for such a prompt reply. I have checked that, and with the end off, I can see both belts rotating in forward and reverse motion and the hand-wheel spinning as it should, so unless I am not understanding you, I don’t think that is problem. I think it’s something I am going to have to take to a repair shop, but thanks, I really appreciate your help.
Thank you, this is very helpful. I have had this machine since I was a teenager and bought it in a table. I'm 28 now and have just decided I'm going to try to get it going well. 😊
Thank you! Really helpful as I try to get my Mum’s old Bernina up and running after years of it sitting in the garage. Perfect tutorial. ❤
Thank you SO MUCH! I have been able to fix any problems I've had myself by being able to follow your videos :)

I followed your video step by step and consider myself to be half professional, now :D Thank you :)
Fantastic!

I have Bernina 531 ande please help how to ajust
Just another question- should I replace the capacitor before I put in a new lightbulb just in case the lightbulb blows again?

Thanks. That switch can seize up. Try getting oil on to the shaft or get the machine serviced.

Hi does this model come with flat bed extension?
Yes, there is a flat bed extension for this model.
Do you know where I can get one
Is it still available for sale.
