LOVE this video!! I have two 830s, a 930 and a 730. The 730 can't stitch the decorative stitches and my service man said it can't be fixed. It does zig zag though. Not sure I get his reason why it can't be fixed - "because a lot of these machine's decorative stitches were never used from the beginning." I am going to try and unstick it myself - thanks for this very informative video!!

Thanks so much for putting this video up! I've had an 830 for 15 years that has been collecting dust because of this issue! It had been so long since I've sewn that I even forgot how to access the insides from the top as the lid is stuck and it didn't feel right forcing it. I have a bottle of sewing machine oil on order now!

Very well presented ... I now have a full understanding of why my beautiful 730 was failing to zig zag ... thanks a heap ...

Thanks for this. My 830 suddenly stopped zigzagging even though it had been recently serviced. Lubricated as indicted and everything is working fine.

So very helpful, thank you!!! I just stumbled onto an 830 Record at a garage sale for next to nothing and know I found a real gem of a machine. Love Bernina! I'm taking her in for service just because I know she sat around for awhile and needs more TLC than I can provide. No zig zagging is one of the issues I found, but not anymore thanks to your excellent tutorial. Just confirms her need for a spa day. Much appreciated, sir.

Thank you, thank you! I've just bought a Bernina 830 for my daughter and fixed it with the help of your excellent video. I've had my 830 for 50 years with no problems over tons of sewing, so thought I knew everything about this machine and was disappointed when the 'new' one wouldn't zigzag. Now it does!

Thank you so much for this. That was exactly why my machine would not zig zag, even after I just got it back from service.

Thanks!!! I now have 2 of these machines but mine is the record. I asked my son to help me change belts and he loves this machine. It is so easy to work on. He works on machines his wife has and they are way more difficult. I will have to give him your channel maybe you have videos of working on those machines.

Thanks! my machine is a Lervia so it's quite different, but this film gave me a clue to look for some sort of seesaw thing that was stuck, and after a while i found a bit that was stuck, i oiled it and got the zigzag working again

Thank you so much for this video! I have my husband's Grandmother's machine and have been wanting to know what to do to fix this issue. It is a record also. I believe it is the 503. It is olive green and cream. I can't wait to try this fix! Maybe I can actually use it then.

I have an old Kenmore I'm fixing right now, so this won't really apply, but this was a great video. It is giving me some new things to look into though

Thanks so much! This fixed the problem I was having. The manual only shows three top oil spots and two bottom oil spots. It seems there are many, many other oiling places.

Thank you, I picked up a used 830 from an opshop and found it wasn't able to trigger the zig zag. Looks like it just needs an oil, but um what grease should I use on the gears, mine is dry as a bone.

My Bernina 830 Record, the zigzag switch back dial is loose; the small knob works fine, but the back dial slides around. Probably not something series, I can count the settings with the small knob, but I sure would like to find a way to fix the loose dial. ? Thanks!
