The bouncing bomb was designed by scientist and engineer Barnes Wallace. Dropped from a height of 60 feet6 on a reservoir it bounced on the surface till it reached the dam wall then it sank and exploded against the dam wall eventually breaching the wall and flooding the valley wiping out industrial factories making weapons for the German War effort. 3 Dan's were attacked 2 destroyed. The reference about the German's calling relates to WW11 ... the German propaganda radio broadcasts at the time started with " This is Germany Calling, This is Germany Calling "
Love your UK comedy reactions.
JESS, REGARDING YOUR DADS BOOK OF HIS LIFE EXPERIENCE, I FULLY CONCURR AND SYMPATHISE. HAVING BEING INTRODUCED TO NINE SCHOOLS IN TEN YEARS, I AND MY SIBBLINGS WERE ALWAYS THE NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK, AND THE SCHOOL CORRICULUM'S WERE ALL DIFFERENT. AT LEAST. I CAN SPELL NOW, MOSTLY.
109 was a German warplane during second world war
Messerschmit 109 was the German WW2 fighter that took on the Spitfire. All the other German names he used were other German aircraft
When he done New York it sounded like Robert De Niro.
I suspect when I was in Germany that was how I sounded.
'That's all i know about Germany ' he says...er no Al. He's actually a military historian and there's stuff with him on YT on the subject and it's good.
This is one of his best the German language is pretty accurate. the asch gerfiken I can't translate it would probably get your channel closed 😅😅.
One thing you probably missed was the reference to the black labrador being run over and killed by a land-rover.
There was a film made called The Dam Busters based on a World War 2 raid on the Rhur Valley by the Royal Airforce in Wold War 2.
The raids were led by Wing Commander Guy Gibson.
He had a black labrador called
Ni@@er. A word not so racially inflammatory in the 1940's as it is now!
When he returned from. the. mission he was informed that his dog had been killed by a car outside the main gate of the airbase.
Al’s grandmother is Austrian so he has a pretty good grasp of German
It isn't far off. I did an IT gig in Canary wharf (London financial hub) with the futures markets. I didn't last long. They were thick as mince; gambling with huge amounts of money.
Other people's.
You need to see Stan Boardman, talking about the Germans.
Can I make suggestion that you watch an Irish comedian, Dave Allen. His comedy is so funny. You must remember he came from a .rather strict era of Roman Catholicism in Eire (Southern Ireland). He once received death threats from some members of the IRA because of his irreverent humour. 4:20
some of the bits, you wont catch when he speaks german and yoy guys said, what, he is talking about football, germany, and how we lost against argentina hand of god, and mocking the football song, football's coming home
No, it was the 2014 World Cup, the hand of god was 1986.
great stuff as always
I have not even watched this yet but i know what happened I just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed watching your reactions this week what's a find you guys really are.
I love the way you break things down I love the way you put y9urselves in those situations whatever it may be.
I have a gripe I was devastated watching queen I was so enjoying it with you guys and then half way through poof this must be improved 😂
Master
Messerschmitt 109 was the main German fighter plane of WW2
I think Brits would automatically laugh at the German parts and get slightly uncomfortable on the New York bit? And I don't think anyone ever asks Japan. I suppose with Germany it can at least be about a shared obsession. My other half is German with Dutch origins, speaks German, Dutch, English, Russian and some French ('some' surprised me) and knows more about what's happening in English football than I do.
So glad you finally did this one!! 😀
Mr Messerschmitt on Ext: 109 same as Mr Warthog on Ext: A-10
You dont know the Messerschmitt 109 fighter from WWII ? You learn about all the planes from WWII here in Denmark. So in your teens you would know The Stuka Bomber or Junkers JU 87, and The Messerschmitt 109 here. Its paarr of war movies from all over the world. So you might see 10 countries with war movies where these planes turn up. As famous as the Hurricane and the Spitfire of England. Thats crazy to hear an American that cant say
Messerschmitt. Yanks seem to be the first to get these planes I feel..
And THAT was how the British Empire was run.
Even if you don't speak German, and I don't, you can still follow that segment and get the gist of what he's saying. Don't need to speak German to understand what arsch ficken or scheisse might mean.
“Reckonomics”
Chinese whispers starts the ball rolling, but it can all be lost in a blink of an eye, losing thousands in mere seconds. Stick to the Roulette Wheel in Las Vegas.
