Absolutely hits the mark, as always. I was moments away from ditching my glasses completely last Summer .. and then the UK Autumn struck, and suddenly my eyesight "got worse", sending me into a spin and reverting to previous, stronger lenses. I'm back on track now, and these pesky glasses will be ditched IMMINENTLY !!
Yes!! Thank you for making this video! I’ve started with EM about a month ago, and it was really nice & sunny for awhile which was superrrr nice. But it’s been grey as ever lately, which has been a challenge for sure! I’ve taken a break from my cms for a couple days to refrain from some mental stress. Long term gains are what matter for us!! 🙏🙏🙏 cheers!
I needed this, I do EXACTLY the same thing as you where when it's overcast, I go into "why bother" mode and ditch all my good habits. I just have to continue as normal, cloudy or not, and trust the process! :)
Really great video! Difficult lighting can definitely get discouraging. Winter time is definitely a test of the will. The mental resistance to improving vision continues to fascinate me. I think you did a really great job conveying that here.
My experience has been to choose Normalized and Differentials based on the worst eyesight I can have in a day including weather conditions. However, I also wear previous Normalized as early as mid-afternoon if needed and then stick with those as Normalized until the next day.
I also stopeed measuring my cms because they didn't improve for weeks but i really feel that my eyes got better even tho cms don't prove it but maybe if we had the machine that optomitrists have we could see cms difference .
Watching this just kept thinking; Oh boy you wouldnt survive a NY winter! It is overcast so much here. I try to see dark days as an extra challenge day, not saying the mind set always works but when it does it is helpful
@G E T R E K T definitely winter is difficult. I think slow progress is possible but I have had extenuating circumstances, so not really progression news from my corner of the world atm
I am big into nutrition, yes. Moving interstate was stressful and so I sought comfort food for a while, so I wasn't doing my body any favours with supporting it with good nutrition. But I am back on healthy, nutritious eating now, so I am sure I will be giving my eyes the best chance.
Some people don't get any, but then get a nice burst of progress in the brighter months, so who knows how the brain is preparing itself. Make sure you have good close up habits though, even if you aren't getting a lot of outdoors time and sunshine and you should stay on track, even if you don't notice it at the time.
Hi. I am new to EM. For the last 2 years my vision habits have been atrocious and now my vision is bad. I see blur in the distance( I have perfect vision until about 75cm, then the words get a little fuzzy). Never gone for an eye test, my bad vision does not affect my day to day to the point where I think I cant do this task with glasses. I've had bad vision for 9 months and I am acting it right now for the first time. I have cut my ~10 hour screentime to about 3 hours and I am going outside more. I think since I never wore glasses, I have pseudomyopia? Would you recommend I get a pair of glasses?
Yes, it is probably just pseudomyopia. Your change in habits sounds great. Be extra careful of phone time! That is the killer. If in 3 months of better close up and distance habits you have not improved, you may want to consider getting a pair of distance glasses for your measurements and just wearing them for an hour a day to help you brain remember what it should be seeing. Good luck!
@@GemilyMez thank you! Its been 3 weeks since I wrote that comment and now my measurement to blur is just just below 100cm, not sure if I was measuring incorrectly or if I improved but Im happy either way. On a good outdoor day its well over 100cm. Yesterday something crazy happened, I was listening to the shortsighted podcast for about 10 minutes. with my eyes closed and when I opened them I could see noticeably better. My blur horizon jumped to 130cm. The gains were temporary but I feel like I am on the right direction!
Hello Gemily. I have been following the 20 min of screen time look away for 1 min rule and just wondering what if I spent less than 20 min on screen time? How long do I look away for? And also what if I take longer than 20 min? I have read about the 3 hours of screen time and 1 hour distance but what if its in between that?
Ultimately, it is not about the ratio of screen:distance, but about how long it takes before your eyes get ciliary spasm from close up, and how long your eyes take to relax properly. That is something you have to check for yourself as everyone's eyes are different. After I had 20 minutes of screen time, I would get up and look out my window and see whether things were a bit blurrier than before (they usually were) - and I would feel my eyes not wanting to look into the distance (they were stuck in close up) so looking into the distance felt tiring. I would keep looking into the distance until things became clear and then I would feel a little relief in my eyes. And then I would keep looking into the distance and appreciating them for a little bit longer - maybe 3 minutes all up, rather than just one minute - because it isn't about the 60 seconds, it's about your eye relaxing. So if you are on a screen for less than 20 minutes and want to do that then too, just look into the distance and see how long until your eye feels relaxed. That's how long you need.

Hi Gem,
The 30 rd line is?
20/60.
Put a bright light on that Snellen.
Doing a good job!

the problem for me is that where i live, it's overcast like 10 months of the year 😂
Exactly!!
Really great video! Difficult lighting can definitely get discouraging. Winter time is definitely a test of the will. The mental resistance to improving vision continues to fascinate me. I think you did a really great job conveying that here.
Thank you so much. Mental resilience indeed! Well said.

Excellent approach. We have so much sun here that when I do that, I feel like I have nothing to AF on. I am lucky with sunshine where I live.
I also stopeed measuring my cms because they didn't improve for weeks but i really feel that my eyes got better even tho cms don't prove it but maybe if we had the machine that optomitrists have we could see cms difference .
can you please elaborate? cms don't improve but you think your eyesight is better? how?
Indeed! Often I notice improvements in my vision BEFORE I see improvements in my cms. So don't let not seeing the cm improvement put you off. :)
yeahhh, new video!!!
thank you

@G E T R E K T in my opinion the lack of light is the main factor but also the reduced true distance vision.
Have you looked into nutrition to help your lens be more flexible and your muscles stronger?
I am big into nutrition, yes. Moving interstate was stressful and so I sought comfort food for a while, so I wasn't doing my body any favours with supporting it with good nutrition. But I am back on healthy, nutritious eating now, so I am sure I will be giving my eyes the best chance.
So will there be any progress in Overcast weather conditions such as Monsoon or Winters?

@@GemilyMez it's difficult for me to detect when my ciliary spasm acts up because I have refractive amblyopia.
Vision poorer on dark days.
still no improvent ..11month
For you? How much time do you spend on your phone a day. How many times do you look at it? Don't guess - check. Your phone should be able to tell you.
Sounds like too much challenge, barely good enough on sunny days
Could be.
