Seventh Son of a Seventh Son - Iron Maiden FULL Guitar Cover

- Full guitar cover of Seventh Son of a Seventh son from the 1988 album of the same name. I attempted to recreate all the guitar tracks as faithfully as possible to the recorded versions over the original bass, drum and vocals.
One little oopsie went unnoticed until too late: for some reason, I played Dave's tapped lick with an E pedal instead of F# so I tapped the 17th fret instead of the 19th.
Guitars:
Jackson SDX Adrian Smith Signature
Jackson SDXQ Adrian Smith Signature
Fender American Deluxe Fat Strat
Plugin: Bias FX 2
Soundcard: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2
DAW: Reaper Audio - Видеоклипы
From the 1st album to Senjutsu, I literally love Maiden's every song. However Seventh Son of a Seventh Son is the only album I like from the start to the end. And thanks to Nico for covering this awesome song of my favourite Maiden album!
One of my most favorite tracks by Iron Maiden and some of the best soloing by Dave and Adrian in my opinion. And, once again, you nailed it!
Same here! The second half of the song and especially that lass minute is some of my very favourite music ever recorded!
@@LicksOfTheBeast And I thought I was the only one...
Even after hearing 6:50 onwards for the first time 18 years ago, this part STILL gives me goosebumps. 🙌
Even to me, since 34 years ago, dude 😶😉
@@miguelanxomuradolo2638 because this is a masterpiece
@@JCasteloo Absolutely no doubt! Great musicians, bro; in my opinion, in their highest moment of their growing-up as composers and players in their own style at that moment at the second half of the 80's.
Always loved this song. The definition of the word epic!!! So many different forms of darkness throughout, but at 8:50 I've always seen those layers of harmonies as a bright ray of light wiping out all the darkness.👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿 So good.
I always go back and forth on whether this or Rime of the Ancient Mariner is my favorite Maiden track.
The same for me with this two songs; for sure, the two ones that I've most listened to (and it is not a little number... 😁).
This song track can't be topped, absolute epic.
Yea , there’s so much going on in this song, I never really get tired of listening to it. The songs show so much depth and of course they are masters of constantly “building TENSION, then release” over and over . Just a great band altogether!
Up The Irons!!
The riff at 7:49 and at 8:18 has always sounded so brilliantly badass to me. Such a great riff! Wonder who came up with it...Adrian, probably.
Steve wrote this entire song.
Saw them live in ‘88 in Austin, TX at the Frank Erwin Center……great show! This is a great expert rendition of the Maiden style in the 80’s with Dave and Adrian (my fav) making that sound my ears want to hear! Thank you for such a wonderful tribute, you are super talented!
Amazing! I'm a big fan of Maiden, the Seventh Son tour and Austin so let's just say I'm a tad jealous 😄
@@LicksOfTheBeast I was there too in Austin, with my mejores Amigos, the show was just Awesome! Up the Irons!
That was a KICK ASS show, how about the red flash at the beginning of Moonchild!!!!
Wow that solo and especially the harmony part between Adrian and Dave in the end, it must be the best part I have ever heard from Maiden in any song. How can I have missed that earlier. Damn Seventh son and Somewhere in time really is two of the best albums they have done. Brave new world is also amazing, these albums are really a guitar enthusiast dream.
No prayer for the dying was one of the first songs ever that I learned to play on guitar, everything except the fastest solo part.
Also a good underrated album, mayybe Licks of the beast will have a tutorial how to play the solo on the channel
this is one of my favorite Maiden songs too..It is so very much fun to play, love the guys solos in this one also.. they just play so good..
Baby Yoda likes this cover
😁😁😁
Outstanding mate. Adrian's solo in this song is outrageously good - Unhinged and still melodic.
Oh it's an absolute masterpiece! Thanks so much for watching my tribute ☺️
I remember my school mate taped this album for me when it came out and I could not believe how good it was. The guitar in particular was epically good. I do like watching your videos, you have mastered the maiden.
Isso não é uma música .. é uma obra de arte!!
Mandou bem d+
one of the defining moments of maiden, the whole song is beautiful, guitar harmonies to die for, vocal perfection, the greatest outro you will ever hear, nico has covered this with perfection as ever
Wonderful! The outro in third guitar interlude is genuine Bach grade musical stuff!! Kudos to Steve Harris for that masterful song!
I always say the last 3 minutes of this song are my favourite thing in all of heavy metal! 😊
Holy shit that was excellent! Aside from the killer solos I noticed a few subtle things at the start I'd never actually even registered before on the guitars. Like the little fill at at 01:37
Happy New Year!
That's the thing I always hope for with these covers... That I can highlight all those little subtleties that often go unnoticed. Thank you so much for that great feedback and a Happy New Year to you too!! 🤘
Good ear man. I've always wondered what he was playing there but could never hear it well enough to pick it out myself. I can finally add it in next time I jam this one now! Still haven't learned the solos though. I think this is one of Adrian's most technically demanding solos along with Caught Somewhere In Time and Alexander. A little daunted to try and learn those three.
After watching this video, I've found I've playing in a wrong way that little detail.
Fucking love the song's outro. Always have, always will.
What a great song... brilliant cover as always!!
OMG Mind Totally Blown. All the years I've listened to this song and knew it was a masterpiece on guitar and knew the parts were intricate but to finally see it up close and layered the way you did with the different parts is a joy. I'm kind of binging on your vids lately because I just can't get enough. Maiden is so groundbreaking album after album. To see the intricacies the way you show them is a real treat. I just love Dave's solo, that opening salvo of punchy, kind of start and stop and proceed type lick is so catchy. You sir play it to perfection. Cheers to you and Up The Irons!
Your comment made me really happy especially because the main reason we film these covers this way is to show the different parts and certain smaller details as much as possible rather than just "look at me, I'm yet another guy who can play Maiden" 😄 I'm glad you're enjoying the channel, man. Thank you!
Cheers 🤜🤛
This should have more likes! There´s mine. Awesome stuff.
Absolute masterpiece! I always loved this mindblowing mid section and epic comeback with the two double solos 🤩
Epic song, The solo is incredible
It’s amazing how simple their solos are yet they sound so dynamic and complex. Nice work man 🔥
One of my faves, love maiden stuff but only pre yanick. I'm old school and started out playing maiden. Love playing this... Nicely played btw dude.
Brother you kick ass this is ALOT TO ACCOMPLISH !! Really nice job
Even if we know your going to blow us away with your playing, you out blow our expectations!
If that doesn’t make sense, I wrote 2 comments in the same comments! I might write a 3rd one, once I collect my thoughts-
Legend-
Hey thank you a whole lot man!
I'd love to remix this one with the guitars a tad louder..or maybe make an updated version at some point. It's a wonderful piece of music!
Great playing! One of my favourite Maiden songs!
Thank you!! The last 3 minutes of this song are probably my most favourite piece of music ever 🤘
@@LicksOfTheBeast Yes, it's really good! Rock on! 🤘
@@LicksOfTheBeast Absolutely agree with you, Nico 🎸🎵🎶😉👍
Its a perfect solo/solos..but still you want more..!
Greetings, Nico!
This video is one of the best things that I have EVER seen!
Incredible channel too, dude. 😊 Keep up the great work. 😎🤘
Hey thanks a ton man!! Cheers 🤜🤛
Yessssss! ❤ fantastic Nikola!
I’m in awe man!
awesome work (as usual)
Thanks so much man! This one definitely did take a lot of work! 🙏🤘
Perfect. I can't believe youtube took this long to recommend this channel to me.
I've been a Maiden fan for around 13 years at this point, since I was 16, and this channel is an amazing resource for learning and appreciating the amazing guitarists of this band. Thanks!
Seriously, RUclips what's up with that?? SHOW MY STUFF!!! LOL
Hey man thank you so much!! Hugely appreciate the encouraging words and support and I can tell you there is A LOT more to come. Cheers!

Awesome job time and effort shown ….
Starting a Maiden tribute in Australia with 3 guitars so good grabbing some knowledge on how things a split .
Videos are a good source!!
Cheers Mojo
That's great, dude!!
Good luck with the tribute band - playing Maiden live is so much fun for both the band and the audience! Cheers 🤜🤛
Absolutely PERFECT! The solos were EXACTLY like on the album! Great job once again brother! \m/

Du spielst großartig 👏🏼
Tausend dank!! 🙏🤘
Excellent cover as always!!! I have acquired the Jackson Adrian Smith SDXQM in Transparent Green, thanks for your feedback! Now I am gassing creating a Janick Gers stratocaster haha...cheers!
Gas is a bad addiction my friend! 😆 I hope you're enjoying the Jackson!
Still working my way through all your vids. Another cracking one here :) Song just proves they are the masters of story telling and from 06:52 onwards, maiden at their instrumental finest. One track I would love to hear you do is Sign of The Cross but from the Rock in Rio live performance from 2001. The middle section has some insane rythym changes. It's so much better than the album version imo.
Thelast 3 minutes of seventh son is probably my favourite piece music, period. Sign of the Cross is in the plans for the future 🙂
Thanks so much for watching my videos man! 🤜🤛
Tout simplement parfait , je passerai des heures à regarder tes cover de Maiden . Quelle taille de cordes utilises tu ?
best IM channel. what are the specs of the Fender guitars. thanks
It's a 1999 American Deluxe Fat Strat.
All stock except for the bridge pickup which is a PAF 36th anniversary. LSR nut, locking tuners and a very cool Mini Floyd Rose bridge which they only offered for a year or two and that is too bad because I think it's a fantastic bridge!
I am not a drummer, but man how do you keep that timing up.
Хорошо сиграно " чисто"👍
great playing/video. anyone else think bruce sounds similar to rj dio on this track? and if s.harris writes the song does he write all the lyrics/gtr parts?
Malade 👌
Hahaha merci!
I Want to give it a like, but it has exactly 666 likes now and I don't want to screw that up! Awesome cover!
I think it's been like that for some time now... Nobody wants to be the one to break the 666, and I think that's so cool of you guys to actually care about that! 😃🤘
👍💯💥💪
OMG One of my favourite songs and Adrians solos. Unbelievable. I am also seriously considering getting the SDX it’s so iconic. About your recording gear. Is it easy from a newbie point of you to use and set up? I am also considering venturing into home recording was considering the focusrite as you have, but noticed you have Reaper and Bias FX. Thank you. A new fans from 🇬🇧
Hey thanks so much for watching and for the encouraging words! Greatly appreciated 🙏 The SDX is a good instrument and with a few upgrades it can be really awesome! I will be doing a video on my Jacksons and their mods in a few weeks so be on the lookout for that. As for Reaper and Bias, both are very user friendly so it's just a question of putting in the time to learn. Plus there are so many tutorials here on RUclips and info on forums and websites... I'm sure you'll be in your way in no time! Thanks again!
amazing. which vst effects did u use?
I'm actually in the process of learning this song, this is actually kinda cool to see how I need to refine what I've learnt already, do you have any tips for this song?
Nice! Would you do For the greater good of god next?
Maybe not next but I am definitely planning on doing that one soon 😉
I'd love to have been a fly on the wall when they wrote this song.. I imagine them in robes performing some kind of clandestine ceremony. The song is not of this realm 😀
Could you please tell me where can I find that illustration at 5:47? Much appreciated!
Sorry man, we made this video 2 years ago (where does the time go?) so I really don't remember where we got that image 😔
there you go boss 3 guitars. I still think not a single producer yet managed to capture the live sound of maiden in the studio, maiden in the studio loses about 50% of the power i think, except maybe no prayer for the dying. raw and tuned like a swiss clock = maiden.
ok, 666 likes ))) that's the sign!
🤘🤘🤘
The golden age of Maiden >>>>>>> any other metal band
How did you get the original bass and drum and vocal stems?
Someone had then online. I can't remember the name of the site but if you google iron maiden master tracks you should be able to find them if they're still up.
@@LicksOfTheBeast Thanks! Love your vids!
The guitars are just too low in the mix.
I'm listening through stereo speakers and the bass and drums completely overpower the guitars.
