This song reflects evolution of Harris composing skills. This song is more complex than others. It sounds like a symphony. 🎸
Trur and that's something about Maiden I have always admired. They started off with strong and fairly intricate compositions like Phantom of the Opera but they never became complacent. They kept raising their level until the most recent album with songs like The red and the black and Empire of the clouds.
Not Even close to Sign of The Cross, Hell On Earth, SSoASS or Rime of the Ancient Mariner. FTGGOG is just a solid big Arry’s song ;) But not more than that.

Yes! I totally agree with that. A (fun) fact about this is, that Steve Harris decided to forego a mastering of the album. Sometimes less is more... Up the Irons!

It is hard to say this but this is my favorite song from this album. You nailed it, man. And recording all the guitars and overlapping them perfectly is really challenging but you did great. This is a masterpiece. Kudos to you and your wife.

what a great song indeed... thanks for this wonderful cover! i was 13 when AMOLAD released and naturally i have a lot of memories and emotions attached to these songs. must have been around that time when i really started to feel misplaced in this world and among my peers, worse than just classic puberty stuff... this album was there for me and had the right vibe. earlier maiden stuff wouldn't have done the same.

How well do your Adrian Smith guitars stay in tune?
Both stay in tune quite well. Aside from some fine tuning, I can usually just pick up and play.
I can't say that this song doesn't have nice parts and melodies...but dear Lord...everytime I listet to it I have to check whether the record is stuck during the choruses.
🤣🤣 I felt like that the first few times I heard it and then once the song structure started to make more sense to me it just felt normal.
I have no doubt that Iron Maiden can add a 4th guitar!!!

Hi, Where can I find the tabs of the solos Dave and janick, I could not find them
I know there was a tab book for this album although I don't know how accurate it is. I don't use tabs so I'm not really sure if anybody has made good ones for guitar pro or whatever. I recommend just doing it by ear. If you slow down this video a bit you can even get a very good idea of the fingerings so that should make it fairly easy ☺️ Good Luck!
