My wife and I bought 211 acres when we were 54 years old...no problem, we had kids to help, we are both farmers and healthy...but the kids left and I was diagnosed with cancer. James Couch that’s grit! We’ve had to build our homestead while dealing with the trials of a severely disabled child. It’s tough. I haven’t homesteaded in the way I envisioned. At least once or twice a year (if not a day) I am ready to give up. But we just keep going. You blink your eye and a decade has passed, and the pain didn’t kill you 😊

I Love, Love, Love that you all have come together to bless the Hollars with this good old fashioned "barn (home) raising"! It is so beautiful to see! The fellowship of all these like minded, amazing families coming together, encouraging one another. Just beautiful! ❤
As I watched this, I became emotional. I love seeing Farm Fit reaching out and doing life with others. Sharing the lack of support you've experience at the beginning of your homestead journey, you are planting seeds of helping others. Amazing testimony!!! thank you and plant on!
Thank You for that because I'm headed back to my homestead as soon as I sell everything I have because I worked on my homestead for 4 years and finished it a few years ago but what I didn't do was to get rid of my other house but now I had to stop and get all this stuff done.

He Really is good at it. Great splicing overcomes most people's inadequacies, but his talent truly seems natural and infectious. Must have something to do with passion and spirit.
I completely understand feeling alone in this. Been going at it for almost 10 years now and aside from my best friend who also homesteads, we're pretty well on our own. The "homesteading community" in our area is so "cliquey" that even asking a simple question is often met with criticism and suspicion. Dont get me wrong, we manage and get what needs doing done, but I long for that sense of community. I really admire what you do, helping others on their journeys and all. Thank you for that, seriously.
The Hollers are lovely and really needed this help they are always there helping others. You are such a nice couple very genuine and caring You are not full of your self at all as I heard you say someone said I would not watch you if you were What I love about you both is the way you are when someone sends you a gift you are so grateful and really show it (sadly not everyone does) you are blessed :)
Thanks for showing the beautiful example of what it's like to help one another. May others be encouraged to follow your example. I'm appreciative of everyone helping the Hollars get set up. You all are great people! May the Lord bless you all. :)
Really appreciate the hard work you did helping another homesteader! In the times now it is rare to see this type of outpouring of just plain HELP!! May God richly bless you for all you guys are doing!!!
Mike and family are helpful to neighbors who are just starting out on their journey. They will someday help a neighbor go through the same journey. That is the true spirit upon which the USA was originally based. God bless the USA and our new and faithful homesteaders. Bless all of you including our neighbors in Canada.
Before you said about the Amish I was thinking that. It is sad how today there isn't as much community where people come together and help each other. That what I like about the homestead channels
Definitely something society has lost. Probably one of the most important things too. Glad to see people coming back to it again and realizing it’s importance. Together we stand, divided we fall.
Strong work ethic and willing spirit, great combination. Homesteading should be part of the curriculum for High School. Teaches you so much about community, hard work, patience and appreciation. Great video! Love the Jolly Green Giant costume on Mr. Fit the Gardenator. :) LOL!
I agree I think the world needs more community!!! So wish I was younger I would be living the homestead dream but instead I do gardening and what I can to improve our life style to be more like homesteaders.💖💖💖
All the homesteaders are awesome with pulling together love ❤️ all of you ! Your a beautiful homesteaders community who pulls together when needed. What a great example to the kids to see the community coming together to help the Hollars!!!! Right on!!! These memories will stay with them for a lifetime....I know, from experience....♥️♥️
Actually I don't think they liked it that we turned it into something fun. We didn't bow down to anyone. We totally could have ignored the comment, deleted it and nobody would have ever known but I do believe we turned it into something positive. Many of our viewers loved helping us name Mr. Fit and they enjoy seeing his wardrobe changes. We want to show and be an example that shows just because someone is offended at what you do/have it doesn't mean you have to act out unkindly in return.
What a really good video! You have such a nice family, it is nice to see you all together enjoying each other. Keep up showing that there is good morals now a days.

Great to see so many people, who are also VERY busy people, get together to help those in need. I’m blessed to have found this community of uTubers who are like-minded. I appreciate it when you reference other channels because you all have something different to offer while being in the same vibe. May God bless your steps!
Thank you Mike. I thought of a song called "The Refiners Fire " when you were interviewing the Hollars. Of all the endeavors I've faced, nothing has come close to the constant labors of the homestead lifestyle . The sense of fulfillment far from outstrip any negatives that come our way . Sometimes I think we succeed or fail by our community .
This truly is a wonderful episode of togetherness this Country definitely needs more people working together and helping one another. And continue encouraging others to do the same. I’m a Gardener in a Community Garden in Williamsburg Brooklyn for 14 years now and we’ve had Gardeners come and go over the years. Because it’s a lot of hard work and many get discouraged and leave. But, a few of us have stuck together for the sake of this beautiful Community garden and over the years introduce the Community with free family friendly events. We have taken numerous of free classes to learn as much as we could. To continue to do right by all those involved including ourselves because, depression and anxiety plays a bit part many don’t know this. So we have to continue too stay and think positive in everything we do at and for the garden. By setting little goals. This we wanted a dwarf peach tree and we save money for it. So April rolled around and we got back it. We are excited because we have 12 beautiful peaches. Next year if all goes well we will have more. We also introduce others in the community about our experiences at the community garden. And help others for free with their gardening space so they too can have a wonderful experience. We have many visitors at the Berry Street Garden.. And many follow us on Facebook. Everything we learn or experience or do for the garden we share with the viewers.. That’s why when I’m feeling down I enjoy watching all you Homestead Families and get re-encourage to continue volunteering my time for others can enjoy the beauty sleep hat we bring to them.. We always tell people Community Gardens are very important as well many of us never been to the Country where it’s so peaceful. So Gardens are almost like walking into another part of the world without leaving your home. It’s a little bit of Country within a Big City... I have a question do have any idea what should I do to protect the dwarf peach tree from the winter months? I was thinking to just lay more mulch and leave do you think this would be enough to protect the dwarf peach tree? Later on today I share with the younger generation at the garden your Episode of today. Every Friday afternoon we watch one episode of Homestead Families usually it’s yours. Because, you explain things Thoroughly and that’s what we need as Community Garden Members.. Thank You so much we truly appreciate this. Possibly when day your family can visit a Community Garden and possibly teach them something. Possibly an affordable way to have an maintain a Chicken Coop. Because, I really am looking to bring something like this to the Community Garden but, we have no funds for anything like this. Possibly you can share an idea of how in Brooklyn, New York 11249 we can have a chicken coop.. Everything is so expensive I just ate a peach for the first time in about 10 years I actually forgot how delicious they were. That’s why we bought the dwarf peach tree for the Garden so others too can enjoy it.. Thank You If it’s okay I would like to share this on my Berry Street Garden Facebook page and on mine as well... Have a blessing of a day with your beautiful family...
Wow - way to go, homesteaders! Building community, teaching the youngsters life-giving character qualities, encouraging one another and being there for one another. I wish you all every success. God bless.
Great job Mike, the outpouring of love you all showed to "the newbies of North Carolina" is fantastic. The Hollars are great people and so are you all! Love seeing everything and everyone helping each other. And all the kids are building a great base of friends to help each other as they grow up together. Wonderful!
Mike and Lacy and of course your children, I can express to you what a blessing you have been to the Hollar's and the entire RUclips community. Your kindness and generosity has been nothing but a gift from God. I for one , want to say thank you. Knowing Ben and Meg, I'm sure they've already let you know what blessing you've been to their family as well. My prayer is that your generosity will be returned to your family 10 fold. Just know you have touched many of us and are in our daily prayers for your family. Keep on being an inspiration to us all and may God Bless You too!
The sharing of big jobs and community that developed in the homesteading community is one of the things I noticed and admire about my son and daughter-in-laws farming life. This is real community, not the lip service type communities that develop in big cities. Keep up the good work!
What a great video. It did my heart good just watching you all give a helping hand to the Hollars I can't even imagine how they felt having so many more hands to help. As Art said when discouraged, encourage. As much of a blessing you all were to the Hollars the act of coming and working together was a big lift to all of you.
So great to see the internet and youtube helping get folks together to help each other out. I grew up in a community that is very good at that, and miss how much that's been lost in much of society.
you are all so blessed with your friendly community. Im a 60 year old widow from Middle Georgia. Thanks to ya'll Im slowly learning to grow my own food. I wish I had access to the community you guys have. You dont know what a blessing friends are.
😂🤣🤣leaf man....looks kinda like jungle/forest hulk. You guys are hilarious! I love the homesteading community. It’s so heartwarming to see everyone working together to help someone in need.💗 Seems that Saila is gonna be a fashion designer. 👩🎨 👍🏼
I think its just awesome how you all help each other,it does remind of the days when they used to help raise a barn,or help with crops. As a society we have lost that,it just boils down to loving and caring about each other, and community.
Absolutely amazing how much you have accomplished over the last year year-and-a-half that I have been watching you. You both have come so far. It is such a pleasure to watch the way your kids react with you and how you teach all of us out here about Fitness and farming. Just wanted to give you kudos
You are a great helping hand. And learning from the experience is a joy. Teaching others how to lift & move the right way. The Hollars are special as well as your family.
This is what life is all about being there for our neighbors friends and family helping each other when needed . Love what you all are doing, keep up the great work and God bless.
Thank you so much for helping them. There such good ppl. Love you vlogs. Teaching your children to help others. And I did notice .Mr fitness with fig leaves 😂. Have a blessed day you wonderful ppl❤⚘
I watch a lot of homesteading channels but this is the first time tears came to my eyes. Everyone else is doing it pretty much all alone, but it's so much nicer and so much more meaningful to see what you're doing - helping others when something is too hard to do alone (or when it seems that way). Community is so important. I will remember this, when I have my homestead. Thank you.
Great video! You are great at interviewing, with some great questions. Your showing other Permaculture families and how the struggle is, working for yourself instead of a regular job is real. But the freedom of being with your family and children makes it all worthwhile. I love that y’all help each and support each other❣️
Mike I absolutely love your videos. I can't say enough about your family and your kind giving natures. It shines through in all your videos. Thank you for sharing your journey with us! 💕
I love this. We've been doing it on our own for 6 years. It's tough. We have very much learned to have Art's perspective on life: when you're discouraged, encourage others. It really fills your cup. We aim in everything to be what we needed in others so if anyone around us us in need of community like we were, they will have it.
I just love your videos they are so inspiring and its good to know we are not alone in our struggles. it is good we reach out to help others even when we are facing our own trials in life because there is always comfort, support, help when we reach out to others, it helps bring new solutions, ideas and a fresh perspective .
You're a good man, Mike. You're like a magic glue who's really making an effort to build a wonderful community with other men to raise good families. You're bringing back a universal treasure that's been lost in some areas.
So enjoyed your take on that day. I always love seeing the joy the Hollars have in this adventure! How blessed you were to have the incredible support you did when you began. You may not have had a crowd at your place , but you had in-laws who gave you the use of their land, a father-in-law who helped you time and again, and an electrician friend who gave you his assistance with some of the most expensive work setting up the yurt! That’s so much more than most have! I’m puzzled that you’re inclined to see and repeatedly comment (in at least 2 recent videos I’ve watched) on the support you perceive you didn’t have??? And what a blessing in your life to now be a part of a wonderful community of friendship! God bless~
As you can probably tell, we are binge watching as fairly new subs, I have to tell you, Sir, you and your precious wife have two of the most beautiful, kind, loving hearts of anyone I have seen. Y'all represent NC to the world so well... Makes my heart smile! You guys show how the Lord intends us to treat one another.. As precious family, each a gift to one another. What a inspiration and blessing. Keep on putting the video's out and we will continue the journey along with y'all. Be Blessed, Steph and family in NC

Everything is so expensive I just ate a peach for the first time in about 10 years I actually forgot how delicious they were.
That’s why we bought the dwarf peach tree for the Garden so others too can enjoy it..
Thank You
If it’s okay I would like to share this on my Berry Street Garden Facebook page and on mine as well...
Wonderful!
Mike and Lacy and of course your children,
I can express to you what a blessing you have been to the Hollar's and the entire RUclips community.
Always loved watching the fit farmer and his family videos God bless and keep your videos coming
Thank you!
Great video. It's so awesome that you all come together as a community to help like that. Truly inspiring.
Thank you! We had a great time!
jason is the man to have around, justin would be lost without him.
@ricky boldin ,
J.R. seems to be really good at supervising.
So great to see the internet and youtube helping get folks together to help each other out. I grew up in a community that is very good at that, and miss how much that's been lost in much of society.
That is so kind of you and your family. What a blessing you are. God bless you real good !
you are all so blessed with your friendly community. Im a 60 year old widow from Middle Georgia. Thanks to ya'll Im slowly learning to grow my own food. I wish I had access to the community you guys have. You dont know what a blessing friends are.
Love the way everyone came together to help out the Hollar Family.
😂🤣🤣leaf man....looks kinda like jungle/forest hulk. You guys are hilarious! I love the homesteading community. It’s so heartwarming to see everyone working together to help someone in need.💗 Seems that Saila is gonna be a fashion designer. 👩🎨 👍🏼
😂 Leaf Man. We had a great time with the Hollar family.
I think its just awesome how you all help each other,it does remind of the days when they used to help raise a barn,or help with crops. As a society we have lost that,it just boils down to loving and caring about each other, and community.
That was nice of you to let those 3 other guys think they were helping move that deck 😄
😂😂💪👊 Believe me they were helping, that thing was heavy.
The Citystead 🤣
Lol right!
Absolutely amazing how much you have accomplished over the last year year-and-a-half that I have been watching you. You both have come so far. It is such a pleasure to watch the way your kids react with you and how you teach all of us out here about Fitness and farming. Just wanted to give you kudos
Your videos always start my day with such Joy. You guys are awesome.
People helping people, what a beautiful thing to behold! Thank you.
You are a great helping hand. And learning from the experience is a joy. Teaching others how to lift & move the right way. The Hollars are special as well as your family.
It is so great, that you have some wonder filled homesteaders in your area. Such a blessing!
I love that you guys all are chipping in to help each other out. Blessings to each and every one of you...
This is what life is all about being there for our neighbors friends and family helping each other when needed . Love what you all are doing, keep up the great work and God bless.
Those kids will be life long friends. Love the fellowship and camaraderie.
What an amazing community! Love that this is true homesteading spirit.
Thank you.
So Kind of you to help the Family get so many things to help get there homestead up & running 👍💙
Thank you for supporting this small farm! Keep going!
Always said take time to enjoy the simple things and the rest will follow. Blessings to all
You really blessed the Holler Family!
We enjoy helping friends.
For me, I really loved hearing the kids laughing and enjoying their time together.
I love this. We've been doing it on our own for 6 years. It's tough. We have very much learned to have Art's perspective on life: when you're discouraged, encourage others. It really fills your cup. We aim in everything to be what we needed in others so if anyone around us us in need of community like we were, they will have it.
Love watching everyone help each other.
Mr Fit reminding us all to be green and care for the land. Good job Zelah.
Beautiful to see people just helping each other out.
God bless you!
I just love your videos they are so inspiring and its good to know we are not alone in our struggles. it is good we reach out to help others even when we are facing our own trials in life because there is always comfort, support, help when we reach out to others, it helps bring new solutions, ideas and a fresh perspective .
It's a testament to see what can be done when the community comes together, its a miracle to see what comes together within!
God bless~
We are just sharing our story again because most people that watch our videos have never seen any of our previous videos.
Be Blessed,
Steph and family in NC
