Wow, the room mics add so much, more than I would have thought for a small room as well. Awesome job man, I’ll definitely be using some of these lessons in the future.
No don't be done! You can do so much more! Mic the hats....put a mic on the kick beater....mic the bottoms of the snare and toms....so much more you can play with! But for this, killer job with the room mics. Very impressive to get that nice sound from such a small room. I like that mic set up and crushing it is awesome. I always stayed away from room mics because I like the dry punchy sound and my rooms haven't been worth miking anyway. My own drums are in a much bigger room now though and I'm gonna revisit the room mic thing.
Thanks, them distressors are great, what body parts do you have to sell to get a pair of them :) but them room mics tie the whole thing together. No one in my studio for over a month is driving me crazy, it's great to see you getting content out, any hint for the next, maybe your fav plugins...
Haha yes, I had to work at it for a few months to get a good price on the used Distressors. I set up an alert on Reverb and it took a few tries to get there quickly enough when one would come up at a good price. But eventually, over the course of a few months, I ended up with a couple! I do love the room mic sound! I could probably get about the same result with a couple of plugins but I've enjoyed using the mics. I hope your studio picks up again soon! Best wishes!

Sounds good man! You should rename this series "Recording Drums in a Home Studio" or something like that, you're hardly a dummy. Edit: Any chance of multi tracks from this setup? I'd love to have a crack at mixing these drums, I've been trying to practice on whatever I can lately.

The room mics bring the L+R balance more to the centre. Completes the drum kit.
