I like the simplicity of this composition and the lovely greens and darks. Your 'greens' palette has always worked so well. I was also reminded of how careful I need to be when deciding in each brushstroke. No rushing. I need to do a paint-along as I’m in a rut at the moment so you’ve motivated me to do this one. Thank you for the great teaching and the inspiration.
Great tutorial. I enjoyed watching you tackle that tree...this is a common scene in upstate NY. Beautiful glow across the lake and at the bottom of the tree. Thank you.
So nice to see a tutorial again Rick, thank you. You made some lovely greens with your palette, which I’ve learned to use too. I find I can get some great darks with the royal blue combined with the warm colours you use. I particularly like how you dealt with those branches - very effective.
Enjoyed seeing and hearing your choices for this painting. The tiny bit of lifting in the branches at the end added a lot to the depth of the tree. Thank you!
I really like the colours you used and how you simplified your painting from the photo. I’m very much a beginner and working on my values which are easier to understand watching you mix your colours and explain how you are going to apply them to your painting. I really enjoy your tutorials. Thank you
Thank you so much for this tutorial vdo on how to pain trees in back & foreground, which has been my challenge for a long time. This is a great tip, I will definitely try this approach… sooo helpful!!!. Love it!
Another beautiful tutorial! I love how you have set this up so we can see the colors that you are mixing along with the narrative of which brushes and brush strokes you are using. Thank you!
Thank you Rick for this beautiful tutorial. I enjoyed watching with my morning coffee. It was the perfect lesson for a cold snowy morning here. Can’t wait to give this a try.
So great to see you again! I missed your wonderful tutorials the last few months. Definitely looking forward to trying this scene. Thanks so much for the great content!
I like the flat brush work on the evergreen, Rick. The light vertical strokes and using the paper texture give a great result. I've been wondering how to accomplish that. Thanks for taking the time to do this for us. 👍
Love your style and your videos. I find it hard to get a good start with your tutorial though as your drawing is so faint that I can’t see where your lines start and stop.
You are an amazing artist. Your brush skims the paper ever so lightly creating magic. Love your colour choices. Thank you for sharing so generously. I think I need to add more water to the initial wash. Never seem to get it light enough
I enjoyed your process Ruck and your color blending and texture. May i ask is this your nature pallet. Do you have a mockup up off your colors used in your palette? Where would I find these? Some if my favorite projects are trees. Thank you for this valuable lesson.

What color is Royal Blue most similar to In the Daniel Smith world? Anybody?
