Excellent and beautiful! I love this painting! The changes you made are perfect. What you did with the sky and trees makes a huge difference. The buildings just pop but everything looks so natural and cohesive! Thank you for sharing this!
Sir Rick thank you so much for sharing your art with us...I started to paint few months ago and i still try to find out what i like what i don't what i wanna learn and for sure your techniques, your approach to the watercolor landscape is something i wanna learn more because your art is amazing...Again big thanks to you for sharing and teaching us how to paint sir it is a privilage to watch you paint.
It's beautiful Rick. I adore farm scenes. My eyes played a trick on me however. I thought there was a school bus in the scene (near right lower third of painting). It's not an uncommon thing to see in area I live, as it seems some rural people also drive school bus. We certainly aren't seeing any school buses on the roads right now however. I suppose one positive of all this is that Mother Nature is getting a bit of a break. Stay safe and well everyone.
This was a wonderful tutorial Rick, and a beautiful painting. You consolidated many aspects of painting which I've learned through you and have seen an improvement in my attempts. Some of these are the amount of pigment in a wash to compensate fading, and the importance of counterchange. It all needs repeating sometimes, for me anyway. I have used your choice of colours as well as my own and I know we shouldn't fuss about colours but could you tell me if quinacridone coral and quinacridone orange have an equivalent in W&N pigments? Thank you and take care
Hi Barbara, W&N "Quinacridone Red" uses the same base pigment "PR209" as DS Quinacridone Coral but I'm not sure how close it actually is. I'm not aware of anything close to Quinacridone Burnt Orange.
Rick Surowicz Watercolor. Thanks Rick. I think I'll order the coral online, as It seems to produce some nice mixes in your work, and it's good to try out new colours.
This looks like the farmland where I grew up in Eastern NC. I'm painting along but my spray bottle is giving me problems. The mist is too strong and I can't control it well. I'm using a small bottle that used to hold eyeglass cleaner- any suggestions for something better? Thanks!
There's definitely a difference in spray bottles. The one I like to use delivers a fine mist, although, technique comes into play also. You can get it at a number of places. I've found Cheap Joe's to be priced better than most on this item. Here is the link: www.cheapjoes.com/chroma-atelier-fine-mist-water-sprayer.html
Hi Susan. Are you familiar with Jane Blundell's website? She has compiled numerous swatches of brands of watercolor. For example: janeblundellart.blogspot.com/2018/01/holbein-artist-watercolour.html

Love this! Is that a Princeton aqua elite for roof and bright green and gold?
Yes it is a Princeton Aqua Elite.
Beautiful work! Rick, where do you get the rice tape? My search brought up nothing. Thank you.
Thank you! The tape is made by "Nichiban". Here is where I get it: www.wetpaintart.com/

Is Holbein’s cerulean blue hue similar to Daniel smith’s cerulean blue chromium? One cerulean is a red shade I think but I’m not sure

I think Daniel Smith chromium is different than most standard Cerulean blue pigments.
