Reversing an airbag delete really depends on how the person did the delete. Did they carefully disconnect the airbag airlines or cut them? Did they leave the air compressor in the truck? Did they use a bolt-in kit or weld spacers onto the axle? There are several variables, and it is best to have a mechanic look at it if you are not sure how or what they did to install the coil springs. Can someone clarify or direct me to install instructions for KDSS models? Without visually seeing the process on KDSS, the brief verbal instruction at 3:58 was unclear to me : "if you have KDSS you're not going to disconnect the sway bar. You're going to put the KDSS in bypass". Further explanation, or preferably demonstration is needed for the laymen.
We do not currently have a truck with KDSS to show this process, but here is an explanation. KDSS trucks have the bypass on the driver's side of the frame bolted to the outside of the frame. Find the black steel shield protecting the KDSS pump, it's also where all the hydraulic lines go in behind. Remove the shield, exposing the pump. At the back of the pump you will see two 10mm hex head bolts pointed outward. These are the bypass valves. Open them up 1.5 to 2.0 turns but not all the way out. The system is now in bypass and you can freely move the KDSS rams with some effort. Once the suspension is installed put the truck on the ground at the new ride height, then close the valves. This will set the new ride hight into the KDSS system.
So I have a question for those that may know. I recently replaced my airbags with the stage 3 Metal Tech coils and Bilstein 5100 Monotube Shocks Rear Pair for 2003-2009 Lexus GX470. Love them both, but after having them professionally installed I notice rear sway and less stability. Just curious if others notice a wobble on the rear? If not, what else can I check other than sway bar, stabilizer link and bearing? P.S. I do love the stage 3 Metal Tech coil kit.
Sway is controlled by, yes, the sway bar, but also and primarily the rebound of the shocks being run. Check your sway bar connections (we just had a customer's GX in the shop who showed up without it; he did not know it should have been there; it never was for him). If good, next up are the shocks. Great video, thank you. Are the adjustable shock controls maintained AND the dash error light overridden by removing the two fuses pulled in the video? Or just one - or neither?
To have the truck no longer look for or power the air suspension system you just pull the one relay and the one fuse under the hood. If you removed the adjustable shocks, even just one you will get the flashing error in the center of your dash. This is common when we lift the truck and remove all 4 shocks! The 2.0 CNC machined spring isolator at the axle will not affect the spring ratio. You can run the same stock replacement rear springs. @@JW-uc2xg The original ones we provided were US Made duplicates of the original Prado 120 rear springs. They worked great for most. However, some GXs just needed a little extra rate. Thus the Supper Stock spring was born.
Fortunately, the airbag system was never originally designed for the Prado 120. It was the GX470 variant that Toyota/Lexus decided to add it to. Therefore, it's a stand-alone system, not an integrated system. (Like in the GX460). Since it's not integrated once you disable the airbag fuse, taking power from that system, it just turns off in a GX470 or 4th Gen 4 Runner. As opposed to the GX460, where it is integrated, you can't simply unplug it, and the truck forgets about it. In the 460, the main ECU looks for information from the airbag system. This is why, in the GX460, you leave everything plugged in and adjust the rear sensors as needed.

Are the top spring - isolators nescessary?(2.spring) I bought kit without them..
Yes with out them the steel spring rubs on the steel spring perch. Over time this can make quite a bit of noise and will rust. Also Toyota designed the suspension to have the 2nd spring for bottoming out. Do suggest putting a set in.
We have the cones available on our site, metaltech4x4.com/key-cone-rear-spring-upper-isolators-metal-tech-4x4-exclusive-sold-in-pairs/
Will this kit work with KDSS suspension vehicles?
Yes. This kit works directly with KDSS. This is since we designed all our parts to be interchangeable with the Lexus parts.
Do I have to disable the KDSS before start working on it?
@@aizenitchi2037no, but you do need to open the KDSS valve before starting the conversion. Iron man has a video with a great explanation on how to properly do it
I did all steps but dash massage ( orange triangle) showing ... what should I do?!
Once done with the physical swap out of the airbags to coil springs, for a 470 disable the airbag system and for a 460 you drop the stock sensors down at the frame. Video for the 470 is here: ruclips.net/video/0JPoGp7t1uU/видео.htmlsi=TV8CaAUwHfUT4JSX
For a GX460 you don't disable the system, you just lower the stock sensors at the frame in the rear. We don't have a video on this but photos in our instructions we include with our kits. Its also on our website for everyone too: metaltech4x4.com/content/GX470-GX460-4Runner%20Rear%20Coil%20Conversion%20Kit%20V3%20(1).pdf?_ga=2.107507202.1263975341.1699287630-1301813325.1647875462
I pulled the relay and the fuse, and my dash light for the air suspension warning would not turn off. I plugged the fuse and relay back in, and it turned off. Hmm?!
I did the rear airbag, delete and remove the front shocks.
Does that mean that I need to pull the air suspension relay and fuse along with the 20 amp TEMS fuse or just the TEMS fuse?
When you remove the OEM Lexus electric shocks/struts, even one, you will usually get a warning light on the dash for SUS. Following our instructions for the airbag relay then the fuses under the dash will take care of this at the time of an airbag swap.
