I didn't learn anything new, but loved the way you presented your discoveries! I wish I would have found this when I was struggling to get this far. Keep it going, brother!
It's good to watch a small guide that can at least a little protect us from death and the irritation that we lost the best equipment and can't get it back. Especially since I'm going to Ashlands alone.
Me and my cousin were playing this game since the mistland update and i am really happy to see both of us clear almost entire ashlands (only boss remains) without dying once. It felt like a proper challenge and some fight with 2 stars looks like a sequence out of elden ring. Best update yet
Ah yes, that pioneer journey into a new unexplored Biome is the most frustrating, and yet most fun moment in Valheim. That struggle of dying, coming back, trying to get your stuff back, dying while taking your stuff, looping until you eventually clear enough of the enemies to set up a safe area around the portal. Starting that first base area in the new biome, that is when the exploration of the biome can properly begin. Gathering of new materials, fighting new enemies. What fun it is to adventure around the world of Valheim.
It's amazing that everyone has a similar experience :D. My party died after about 5 minutes in Ashlands. The second voyage to Ashland destroyed our ship before Ashland and we got boiled in the Ashland waters :D
Great video, as always. I've been playing some on my first character when I have some time, and I've absolutely died more here then anywhere else, even early Mistlands. Still think there are too many mobs swarming at once after the two patches, but I'm also doing it solo (which is probably much more difficult than in a group). REALLY fun biome though, between corpse runs... I absolutely love all the new structures. And Morgen is a beautiful nightmare.
Yeah one advantage of playing in a group is 4 is you can keep Bonemass running 24/7 which definitely helps a lot haha. I still need to try it out post-patch and see what I think. Glad you're enjoying it and hope you're doing well!
"This was our last chance to put down a portal, just in case something went wrong." "We didn't do it" I laughed so hard at that, idk why. It was the delivery with your voice. Lmao
Holy shit dude! It really is brutal! Thankfully it's still in beta so they can tweak everything before the full release. Some friends and I just started a fresh save to prepare for the full release! Good luck out there! Can't wait to see more from you!
Love your style and would watch however many of these you decide to put out in their entirety. I played both before and after the enemy aggro fix thingie and personally I think it worked wonders! Still tough, still war, but now there's light at the end of the tunnel. I imagine you'll enjoy your next session even more
Thanks mate! I did see a tiny bit of the vod of your first stream - I think it 's the only Ashlands content I've seen. I watch it after we played for the first time and got owned, so I was glad to see we weren't the only ones to find it a bit excessive. Also, really good to hear that they've got the balance right, I was a bit worried they might nerf it too much.
Thanks mate! If you haven't seen any of my other stuff I'd recommend the building only challenge. I am working on a really long video and I think I will make a follow up to this :)
@@BigBrianGameplay oh I made sure to check out all the challenges you have done! Amazing job! Your base looks so functional too! Would be great to see a vid of how you kept everything organized! That was always my biggest issue with trying to upgrade/progress.
Maybe I can talk about it, but essentially we just start by splitting into categories like wood, stone, trophies etc, and then have biome specific ones for some of the weirder things you might only find in one place. Normally when one gets too full someone will either make a second chest for that specific thing, or find a way to split an existing one into two different chests, like one chest for iron and one for black metal. It's probably not the best way, but it does get the job done.
I've avoided all of the Ashlands vids from the usual suspects, because I didn't want spoilers. Couldn't avoid this one, though. Figured if I was going to get spoilers, I might as well have a good laugh at the same time, and you delivered. Prostitute powder, and its a.k.a was....... *chef's kiss* 🤣I'd happily watch more, if your friends don't mind you filming them while they die.
Thanks for such an awesome comment! Well I feel kinda bad that you've had a few spoilers now, but at least we were definitely missing a few things, so there's still a lot more to figure out.
Wait what’s the point of avoiding it all , won’t u know all the new stuff they add anyways cause of the patch notes and the trailer they dropped I’m confused ?
Maybe they didn't watch the trailer? At least for the patch notes, they normally keep the visible part spoiler-free and vague, and then have detailed patch notes with spoiler tags underneath.
@@noahmorales3768 Aye, I didn't watch the trailer, and don't look at patch notes. But I love this channel, and decided it was worth the spoilers. @BigBrian.......please don't feel bad. I loved it.
One tip I have to groups with a few people or more is to have a polearm guy. The crowd control from the special attack is well worth it and you can stun lock a lot of enemies.
When the main version of Ashlands launched I found myself when I logged in in the middle of the flaming sea, which prior to the update had been dry land in the mistlands, I raised this with the developer and no surprise they havent got back to me. It s a pain as I lost all my best equipment and am now trying to make new stuff as I cant anywhere near the tombstone to retrieve my stuff
if u read the update notes u would have known that u shouldnt build near or in unfinished biomes. this was the standared pre mistlands as well. u can get cheats on a different world. spawn ur equipment and tranfer it to ur world i think.
I love the Ashlands. I somehow, amazingly, have not died once in this biome. At this point it’s become a roguelike in my head. My team is pretty well established at this point so I’m not that worried anymore. It was hard fought and well earned. I hope they don’t nerf it.
I think I started after the aggro range change, because while I did have moments of “what is this shit“ I could stay in one spot and kill everything. I accomplished about as much solo as this episode has, but definitely died a lot. I went there with my big boat completely loaded in a variety of metal bars anticipating a new ore smelt and didn’t want to ship it halfway across the world. It felt kind of crazy having that entire boat filled with supplies like I was bringing my whole save file into God knows what. First thing I did Was immediately billed a portal and bridge to the boat. Found out that the water does in fact kill you. I am enjoying it too, but it does seem a little bit excessive on number of enemies. It’s not so bad but when you have a morgen and fallen Valkyrie and army of skeleton people there’s just not enough stamina in the world.
@@BigBrianGameplay i did also go like you with a normal boat and just burn and boil in the water lol. but since im a gamer i had portal materials on me and managed to jump on a pointy rock and build a portal home. i just got the staff of the wild and take back not being able to fight lots of big enemies, that staff is incredible. i EASILY killed two 1 star asksvins at once today. i was underwhelmed by the new axe attack animations, the second swing has so much vulnerable after-swing time, and i tried the new mace, its just so hard to capitalize on a parry with a mace that knocks them so far back, idk i think im just sticking with magic again
I despise the Mistlands. i am so happy to see some ground to easily walk on again and actually see...I don't know how the Mistlands got passed testing! lol

Couldn't imagine not using the feather cape in the ashlands. Makes escaping soooo much easier by climbing up and away from mobs of enemies. Of course, I always have a fire resistance mead going though.
I have a small recommendation: You can launch yourself with the catapult. If you equip the feather cape and put the catapult on a mountain it feels similar to the old harpoon glitch (and you look like superman)
Just a heads up, if you drink fire resistance, it nullifies the weakness of the feather cape, so you can wear it just fine if you have resistance all the time.
I was watching firespark81 do this update in a live stream and someone said that Asksvin = Ash Hog in Icelandic. I hope that helps. As for more of a series I always enjoy people doing narrative things with video games that is why I enjoy Let's game it out so much.
Thanks mate, someone mentioned the Ash Hog thing, and I swear I see it as more of a reptile? haha LGIO has some really good videos, I remember the Raft one was really fun.
You went through this with a group. Now imagine doing it solo. I did prep before facing Fader, but he still killed me 24 times before finally killing him.
IN the 16:00 something mark where you said it felt like a failure as you went back but had something to aim for means it's not a failure. Part of discovering new biomes means even finding an objective is a reward, especialyl if no one died on the way.
That's definitely true, I think it felt like a failure at the time because it had taken us a few attempts just to make it that far and we came back empty-handed. You're right though, it wasn't actually a failure, especially since we had unlocked the catapult payloads beforehand so it made it clear we needed to build something to break in to the fortress.
SPOILER the feather cape doesnt really do anything to me in the ashlands. the lava is an instant kill no matter what, the lava blobs are easy to get away from, an none of the other mobs use fire as their source of damage.
My character in Valheim is pre strong, runa and jump are both 100 swords its 85 axes is 78 , my chrystal axe has like 130 slash and high blowback and my armor is 150 ( all upgraded 7 times, mods ). I sailed to the ashlands, came across a 1 star black skeleton guy, activated bonemass ability, took out my crystal axe, activated the enrage mode that it has with epic loot ability ( gives me 10 seconds of double damage and faster swings ) i swung at the guy and he fully blocked it and hit me once and took almost 125 damage from me. Guy hitting harder than 5th boss. Not sure if the game still scaling with difficulty cause i had a buddy with me, or maybe the mods messed with the difficulty
honestly fire resistance isnt bad at all with the feather cape, fire resistance potions will negate it and even with fire resistance youll die real fast touching the lava, the extra jump height and glide makes it a really good option with the large amount of mobs, askvins and traversing the land. imo its actually better, lets be honest when was the last time we went to the snow and theres still frost resitance mead so ya know its alot better now
Nice video bro. They fix the mobs number problem. and you need to use Bow bro. or someone there. I kill almost all the mobs of 3, 4 or 5 arrows (frost arrows)
when i went with my friend, the weather was stormy for a while and thor appeared in the sky and the music changed and the sea serpent attacked. all of this was ruined because my sound bugged lmao
Great vid Bro. I tried solo Ashland and the most nightmarish thing is retrieving items from magma pool. The enemies and jumping fireball just shove me into the pool while I'm standing on a basalt plaform 😢
I like to keep a feather cape with me for them boat jumps, my jump level is 97 lol i love it. I been maining the asksvin cape or whatever one looks like a v from the ashlands. USE IT WITH MODER's ability for speed if it helps, havent really got to try it yet. We are getting itt
I love the game, but i kind of feel like the developers are pushing into the annoying side of it more and more with each update. Am I wrong on this one?
Mistlands was annoying, for sure. I suppose that naturally goes with the game getting harder at each step, but imo, Mistlands was over the top annoying. At least the new place looks fairly level, visibility further than 3 metres, and hopefully now the patch has dropped, easier on the combat.
I think I'd agree with what I'd seen so far if the enemy spam was intended. As I said in the vid, haven't played it since they did some bug fixes and balancing. Or maybe blindly climbing up cliffs in the Mistlands made me numb to this kinda thing haha
that new askvin, it can come in 1 star as seen in video, so maybe 2 star too? if so this is 100% better than lox's sines they cant spawn as star variants. cant wait to make army of 2 star askvins :D
I reckon so, I think before Ashlands anything that had a 1-star variant also had a 2-star. It felt that starred variants were more common, but maybe that was just the fact there were so many creatures everywhere.
How do you take so little damage and never get staggered? My friends have mistlands melee gear but every time they're hit it seems like they lose like 100 or 70 HP. I've always gotta keep them bubbled.
Probably by using Bonemass, there were times where I did get hit like that, especially due to starred warriors, but because of editing a lot of stuff gets cut out.
Berzerkr axes or however they are spelled the new dual wield axes are very useful for farming materials in meadows and black forest at lvl 1 for the axes and pretty much any gear from the mistlands or before 🤷🏻♂️
@@BigBrianGameplay no problem lol I'm hitting my grove and getting stuff "done" that I want to do 😂 that I totally haven't been procrastinating for a indeterminate amount of time 🫠 and I'm learning what I enjoy about gaming the most and embracing it 💪🏻😀 community is what I love most and im trying to start growing one i know im not for everyone and im ok with that but if I feel like my knowledge may be useful im gonna spill the beans 😂 sharing is caring except for STD 👀 🤣
Well it depends how much you want to take your time and build a base and all that. For new players going through it fast maybe you could do it in 200 in game days which would be like 75-100 hours? I don't really know, i guess it also depends how much you learn about the game beforehand too. With 4 of us (not always all of us online, we shared the save so anyone could host) and taking our time to build a base and mess around the start of this video we were around 430 days in, so probably around 150-200 hours in total
Is it possible my ashlands are bugged? I’m using the same server I’ve been using before the mistlands were added. But when I finally got to the Ashlands, there are no spiky rocks and from where I landed and died a bit, there are no trees or other structures. Just ore, lava, and endless horde of monsters. I might have to start a new server :(
Haha cheers. I think the only point of cheating would to try and be the first to see everything, but there won't be an update as large as this for a while so you gotta make it last!

Me and my bros did the exact same thing landing and getting immediately wiped out 😂
honestly fire resistance isnt bad at all with the feather cape, fire resistance potions will negate it and even with fire resistance youll die real fast touching the lava, the extra jump height and glide makes it a really good option with the large amount of mobs, askvins and traversing the land. imo its actually better, lets be honest when was the last time we went to the snow and theres still frost resitance mead so ya know its alot better now
Someone else said the same, I'll try it out but my worry is I'll forget to use another fire resistance potion when one runs out haha
Nice video bro. They fix the mobs number problem. and you need to use Bow bro. or someone there. I kill almost all the mobs of 3, 4 or 5 arrows (frost arrows)
Definitely record it, these are great
Cheers mate, hopefully this weekend we will
Do be warned the Asksvin I think it was called is very resistant vs slash damage weak vs pierce and neutral vs blunt.
Good to know! I'm hoping we have a frostner lying around.
Naaa I’m still rocking the feather cape, fall damage is my biggest enemy in valheim and I love the jump update it got
I won't lie I've jumped off of those ruins in the ashlands thinking I was wearing my feather cape haha
Thank you Elden Ring for making Valheim look like Ghosts & Goblins on Atari :(
Because of me Contantly pressing F by mistake I changed it to G, It's right next to it, but I never pressed it by mistake again.
I do mind having alot of spawns in an area, as it means building a base there is not going to do well unless you can stop them from spawning somehow.
Yeah I get ya. Maybe we'll have to build workbenches/campfires everywhere to the supress spawns.
Waaait, one person using bonemass power, works on everyone???:?:
Yeah
8:30 lol nothing has changed youre still overwhelmed af
It is a bit better than before but man it is just constant fighting
@@BigBrianGameplay yeah its super tough in the beginning for sure
when i went with my friend, the weather was stormy for a while and thor appeared in the sky and the music changed and the sea serpent attacked. all of this was ruined because my sound bugged lmao
Haha how did your sound bug out? Mine is always delayed in Valheim so every time I make a video I gotta resync it all
Great vid Bro. I tried solo Ashland and the most nightmarish thing is retrieving items from magma pool. The enemies and jumping fireball just shove me into the pool while I'm standing on a basalt plaform 😢
I feel like that's going to be us pretty soon haha
Asksvin ("ask-sveen", rhymes with bean) means ash pig in swedish
I like to keep a feather cape with me for them boat jumps, my jump level is 97 lol i love it. I been maining the asksvin cape or whatever one looks like a v from the ashlands. USE IT WITH MODER's ability for speed if it helps, havent really got to try it yet. We are getting itt
2:40 My friend does this randomly every once in awhile LOL
Ashlands is better balanced but still unbelievable in how many mobs you have to battle through to reach any destination.
Yeah it is insane how you just have to fight your way back and forth everywhere haha
yeah put the big new sword in the thumbnail so peeps get spoiled on the new gear, thx men. day is done
That's a mistwalker in the thumbnail (you know, the one from an update over a year ago now) Literally none of the equipment in the thumbnail is new.
Womp womp you fuckin crybaby.
"UFOs can appear and can make crop circles"? fr? where did you find that
woyuld love to see more
The second part is coming out pretty soon, uploading it now!
That being said, I think it's absolutely a great idea for you to record the play through, love your videos 🤍
I think I'd agree with what I'd seen so far if the enemy spam was intended. As I said in the vid, haven't played it since they did some bug fixes and balancing.
Or maybe blindly climbing up cliffs in the Mistlands made me numb to this kinda thing haha
More please.
@@mrmikeyomannthey added a hardcore difficulty if you want the challenge, bu I do think the game should be slightly easier on the regular difficulty
I miss the Plains.
It's my favourite biome - well, haven't seen enough to decide where I'd rank Ashlands yet!
I actually went yo the ashlands during the mist update. I found the biome but completely empty xd. Just the lava and rocks lol
Haha you may need to go on a new world if the whole place didn't generate properly
that new askvin, it can come in 1 star as seen in video, so maybe 2 star too? if so this is 100% better than lox's sines they cant spawn as star variants.
cant wait to make army of 2 star askvins :D
I reckon so, I think before Ashlands anything that had a 1-star variant also had a 2-star. It felt that starred variants were more common, but maybe that was just the fact there were so many creatures everywhere.
Great video
Looks like an absolute nightmare for solo play.
Maybe haha, I do wanna try play solo to get a better idea
I do that All the Time I press F instead of E i'm like Damn it WHY Lmfao
How do you take so little damage and never get staggered? My friends have mistlands melee gear but every time they're hit it seems like they lose like 100 or 70 HP. I've always gotta keep them bubbled.
Bonemass power.
Probably by using Bonemass, there were times where I did get hit like that, especially due to starred warriors, but because of editing a lot of stuff gets cut out.
Berzerkr axes or however they are spelled the new dual wield axes are very useful for farming materials in meadows and black forest at lvl 1 for the axes and pretty much any gear from the mistlands or before 🤷🏻♂️
Damage wise I had very little axe combat skills 😂 and I killed everything that came at me with ease
I have some ideas actually maybe 🤔 that's a short clip I could make
Interesting!
There is always 10 of enemy's minimum. Im so cooked on hardcore
How much time should 2 players with a fresh start need to get this far?
Well it depends how much you want to take your time and build a base and all that. For new players going through it fast maybe you could do it in 200 in game days which would be like 75-100 hours? I don't really know, i guess it also depends how much you learn about the game beforehand too. With 4 of us (not always all of us online, we shared the save so anyone could host) and taking our time to build a base and mess around the start of this video we were around 430 days in, so probably around 150-200 hours in total
Magic? Ice staff, skeletons and shield.
I might have to start a new server :(
good job and ty for not cheating like every ducking youtuber who does ashland video atm :D
Haha cheers. I think the only point of cheating would to try and be the first to see everything, but there won't be an update as large as this for a while so you gotta make it last!
15:25 LOL ! :D
Please make more. Pretty please.
Part 2 should be out in an hour or so!
