You can jump over them too, then they have a half second pause before they turn around. They also have collision, so you can accidentally land on top of them (or even ride them). But with that because said, he obv didn't have enough stam to jump over the Deathsquito. Just another tip.
Great list. I have 500+ hours and at least five things I didn't know about I find very useful. The only thing I would recommend is to sort them based on biomes, so that players can stop the video at any biome to avoid spoilers. Thanks for taking time to create this comprehensive list!
Nearly 3000 hours in the game and I still continue to keep Hugin active. Not because I need the tips anymore. But because he just adds that little bit of additional charm to the game.
I like camera shake in early game, it usually gives you plenty of warning if a troll is aggrod or in the area. Saved ke a few times while mining or chopping
I love Valheim. I'm Faroese and a direct descendant of Viking settlers, so many things in this game are linguistically and culturally familiar to me. For example, eitr (eitur in modern Faroese) means poison or venom, and galdr (galdur in modern Faroese) is just magic. A man who practices magic (galdur) is a "galdramaður." The first time I heard about the magic staff called "Dundr" I immediately suspected that it was a lightning staff, because "dundur" in Faroese is like a loud bang, something a bolt of lightning would produce, or something an upstairs neighbor would do if they were jumping on the floor. Also, the name Hugin (pronouced who-in in Faroese) is a pretty common name here. :)
I know all those things... Also: 1. Higher HP food makes it easier to block enemy attacks. 2 hp and 1 stamina food is pretty much a need if you wana counter the enemys of higher lvl. 2. Fire slimes in Ashlands can destroy your mud walls when they explode near them 3. You can fire the arrow a bit away from mobs and the sound of arrow landing near will attract them 4. Campfires will get destroyed, but they are low priority on monster attack list 5. If you have reshin and wood on you, but no stone, just place down torches araund the circle at night and you will survive it as weak meadows graydwarfs hate fire and will run away from it (however they will use rocks to attack those) 6. Boars dont like fire either, so if you pop your fire torch when low on hp, they will run away 7. Mobs like a tick if they jump you and you enter/exit dungeon, they will teleport with you inside 8. You should always carry wood, hoe, build hammer and stone (when exploring). If you get a raid (like wolfs) in wild, you can put down workbench and raise ground up in air there wolfs cant reach you 9. Before you fight a raid boss, disable auto pickup. A lot of bosses will destoy area arand them and if you end up picking full stone (while having belt) and if you die, the corpse revival will be pain. Heck i recomend you disable it when you normaly corpserun to. 10. If you have a bad wind, turn ship 180* to the wind and simply row backwards (its also smart to use this in ashlands when you look for landing area) 11. You can push the full cart of items on your staring normal boat and increasing inventory of your 4 slot ship.... it does however need a bit of building magic to make it work 12. Dont carry silver down the mountain...its to heavy. Instead just make a cart, load it with silver and push down the mountain. It saves so much time. 13. If you are truly hardcore, play with no armor, daggers + swords only (cloack allowed due to weather) and only a animal helmet (leather, troll, root mask, fenris hood and hood of ask) and name your character Sunraku 14. Never land in swamp with boat in low lvl armor.... water area has a very high spawns 15. You can tap give item button on forge realy fast and not do a slow give item (animation cancel pretty much). Works on food to. 16. Have a boat away from your main base. If it doesnt render, mobs will not attack and destroy it. In ashlands you can raise ground in water and move it as far as possible as game lets you and land mobs will not attack the ship. 17. Visit northlands. They are a great place to build as no monsters spawn there (and knowing devs its gona take 2 years to get next zone update). No food can grow there.
One thing about the blinking food, you can actually renew a lot earlier than when it starts blinking, I think its after half duration or so, I use that alot in higher biomes when I am there under equipped and need all the HP and stamina I can get to avoid being staggered. Yes you use up more food, but it allows harvesting materials early. Also, for gathering feathers, plain wooden arrows do not use feathers to craft so are perfect both for harvesting feathers and practicing bow skill.
@@SpazzyjonesGaming I verified it in a current game, as far as I can tell you can renew food once half the duration has passed, which is long before it starts flashing.
Some exceptions to dismantle refund: Spikes and already built structures (ruins, castles etc). The basic spike wall, does not return core wood when destroyed. Structures yield half or less of normal build cost, sometimes 25%.
I kinda do consider it cheating myself and personally don't do it. I can understand others doing it though. BTW thanks for supporting me with the Associate level membership. You're one of only two! It means the world to me!

Learned this one the hard way. Parked our boat near a Dvergr base and got my shit rocked by a mini spirit bomb as soon as I went to retrieve the materials.
The weather being shared across all worlds blew me away a little. I will never forget that the weather I'm looking at is what every single other person is looking at. It really adds that feeling of unity when you look at a storm and know others are looking at the same one, or enjoying a warm sunny sky
With 800+ hours played i didn't expect to learn anything new but risk it and found mind-blowing fact 60 after thousands or tens of thousands seeds planted and hand picked you can use some sort of scythe for crops. EPIC.
1.6k+ hours in Valheim... 93/96 were new to me, didn't know removing the egg stopped drake spawns... and never tried using the cart to break the totem... makes sense tho... thanks! :)
Probably worth mentioning with the raids that the timer pauses when you leave the red circle so you can't leave and wait for it to finish. . . They'll just be chillin' until you return.
@@sneekiersnek3122 How much time had passed.? Of course - it is also possible that the devs have since tweaked something. My main remembrance is before mistlands dropped, so haven't left raids since I died to draugrs at an outpost and when I returned 15 mins later it was still in progress.
@sociallyferal4237 Took just under 10 minutes, I sailed with a tailwind behind me away from the raid and after it was out of sight I checked my map occasionally after that and it disappeared. Revisited the spot since it's my plains farm, no wolves!

1:57 You don't have to wait until it is flashing. You can replace any food once it is below 50% of its duration. So a 20min food item can be replaced once it reaches 10min. As food deteriorates, it's bonuses also deteriorate. So a food item that gives 40hp, will begin to give you less than 40hp once the duration drops below 50%, which is why you can replace it if you need that maximum health/stamina bonus.
i strongly believe it can only be replaced when flashing. Maybe it wasn't always that way but Im quite confident it is now. The deterioration is accurate though
@SpazzyjonesGaming I regularly replace my foods once they get to 50% duration. I did it just last night while playing on the big witch update, and have been for the past year.
@SpazzyjonesGaming also, when breaking a dvergr Ward, you can hit a bunch with a weapon to whittle down the hp, then use a cart to break it the last bit. They only get mad when it breaks, not when you hit it 👍 saves a lot of time
Nice video, even with 1000+ hours I found one thing that is new to me... Also - you can go up to mountain level of gear without slaying a single boss - why use antlers if troll can destroy both cooper and tin deposits for you, then the "chair cheat" in swamps and finally finding silver veins with the AoE weapons or with the help of my beloved stone golem... or sometimes the vein just peaking out of the terrain. And my personal favourite for farming is to use stagbreaker - lowest stamina usage for AoE
I was pleasantly surprised to find a new learning at Point No. 34! 200+ hours into the game over the years, yet I did not know forsaken power activation can be cancelled. I trigger them accidentally so many times. Thanks for the quality content SG, your thorough effort behind every video shows! You are my go-to channel for Valheim content!
There was a few new things, some, like the color of the fork was not really that important since you have the stats, but there was some really useful things. Was not aware of that you actually more damage then hitting multiple targets, always assumed it was spread equally, I also did not know about the more quite huntsman bow and canceling the forsaken power, nor that tamed creatures would not attack same species, probably because I only tamed boar and Lox and never had my lox get close to while ones. But in hindsight its obvious since when you tame multiple boars and one gets tamed before the other they do not start fighting :D
Thing 101: game has high ground advantage. If you are above the enemy you do increased damage and less if you attack from below Edit: resources and buildings too
The chair trick for crypts and hammer one for silver veins are nice. Could be useful if you're in multiplayer and want to get some advanced resources before your whole group is ready to take on the previous boss.
I did learn new stuff in the video even though I have 4k + hours played (specifically, the setting for attack direction). Nicely done!, this is a very informative video
9:32 - basic wooden arrow requires no feathers and oneshots birds just fine. I actually use the them for almost everything except combat. But if I'm out of good arrows and can't return to base, I can make some wooden arrows at the spot as emergency solution. Axe and Hammer are always with me, and wood is everywhere too.
There's 2 more damage types: Chop and pickaxe. Creatures can help you gather resources because they have these damage types as well... For example trolls have a similar pickaxe damage to the iron pickaxe. Simple wood arrows don't use feathers, these are the best ones to farm more feathers, at least until you can breed chicken.
A couple more: 1. Nightfall is announced with night music, which plays briefly. Also, there is no background music at night. 2. Deer can smell you if you are upwind, so approach them from the right direction. 4. Moving heavy logs, especially hard to push Yggdrasil wood logs can be done using doors, and opening the doors in intended directions. A few I have never seen in tips videos: 5. Find a nearby Runestone and place your Eitr refinery near it. You can place your box of materials RIGHT behind it, and it'll never get destroyed because Runestones can't be damaged. 6. Crafting table distance (for building + preventing spawns) increases with how much it is upgraded. The diameter of the circle gets bigger with each upgrade. 7. If you want to make a smooth road uphill, use a hoe but stand sideways as you strafe in one direction to flatten the ground. You get a nice diagonal uphill road with the least amount of bumps. Go back and forth up and down a few times for perfect effect. 8. Iron cage walls around a fireplace help significantly reduce smoke leaking into a room, funny enough it works better than wood. 9. If you want to build up high, pillar up dirt with a hoe, and around it dig down to the lowest point, that difference allows to support a tall structure from what is the ground. 10. To fix your maxed out gear (for example at a second location, not your home base) you only need to upgrade your various crafting stations only to HALF the max of the station (rounded up). So, a forge level 4 will fix Mistlands/Ashlands stuff, because its max is 7. Of course, use the appropriate station! And my fav which I posted in another comment: split stacks accurately by typing the exact number you want in your inventory, much easier than using the slider.
One exception to the 'not wet' requirement for resting is if you are in a hot tub, then you are able to rest/be resting, but that's a special circumstance.
The amount of times I have pushed, built routes, and such to move tamed animals is now embarrassing. Thanks for the tip on the harpoon. That will save me so much time! LOL
41 is wrong. A log is only damaged by other logs as shown by jiroc. Also, thank you for mentioning the bird harpooning mini game. Made me an expert thrower of grenades and spears.
I don't see how its wrong. In the video I push a beech tree into a birch tree and the birch tree breaks. I've seen jirocs video. Glad you appreciate the harpoon game!

(btw, comments, if you don't know, right-clicking a drawn bow will undraw it as normal games do. This would've been a good tip for this video; I don't think it's in the controls).

The valkyrie that brings you to Valheim is NOT fallen. The actual fallen valkyries are the ones that live in the Ashlands. Well living is a term loosely applied considering I'm confident they're undead. They're distinctly evil whereas the ones that bring vikings to Valheim are either good or at worst neutral.
I have seen my campfires be attacked by charred archers. I don't know if that was just a coincidence, but it happened in such a way that that seems odd. Holdup. Does thing 87 also work on lava leviathans? That would be huge!
I've heard of some weird behaviour with the charred. Could be the exception. Great question on leviathan. Im not 100% sure. That said, they actually just releases a valheim patch today to make mining flametal easier!
It doesn't necessarily clear it, the duration of the effect just keeps ticking down during the time you're in the portal without you being able to take damage. Same thing works with entering crypts and caves, but those are quicker than portals so you'll usually only avoid some of the effect and not all.
So its definitely been nerfed. For me it still worked when i disconnected immediately after the leviathan started groaning but not after it started submerging
@@admiralspandy It was a normal question. Asking a question = no manners? I also think it's quite surprising you didn't see the damage numbers, since it displays literally everytime you interact with monsters or animals. Even tamed ones.

The chair trick for crypts and hammer one for silver veins are nice. Could be useful if you're in multiplayer and want to get some advanced resources before your whole group is ready to take on the previous boss.
Absolutely! Both are great for breaking the normal way of progressing the game
no 87 has been changed. both leviathans and flametal pillars will completely disappear instantly if you log off during the sinking animation.
So I did play with this a bit for the video. If you log out immediately when the Leviathan first groans it does reset
is there a sweet spot that allows it to not sink? or is it fully patched now
@@harryevans4994 its not fully patched as far as I know so its something you might have to experiment with
I did learn new stuff in the video even though I have 4k + hours played (specifically, the setting for attack direction). Nicely done!, this is a very informative video
Thank you very much! Glad I could share something with even an experienced player like yourself 😁
9:43 i usually get the harpoon and just harpoon them birds ^^
Hell ya brother
9:32 - basic wooden arrow requires no feathers and oneshots birds just fine. I actually use the them for almost everything except combat.
But if I'm out of good arrows and can't return to base, I can make some wooden arrows at the spot as emergency solution. Axe and Hammer are always with me, and wood is everywhere too.
Yeah for sure. This is also an option
#75 you can turn off auto pick up with “C” I believe as well as auto run with “Q” when your at a stand still.
correct! those are the default keybinds anyhow
Some good info there for sure. While I already knew about most of it, some of those tips are new to me as well. It's always good to learn new things.
Thanks Rusty. I'm not surprised you knew it all with all the hours under your belt
Correct but your character cannot take chop and pickaxe damage
@@SpazzyjonesGaming the shield from blood magic can.
A couple more:
A few I have never seen in tips videos:
Wow! these are some actually great tips I have never heard before. Thank you!
@@SpazzyjonesGaming Feel free to put them in any future videos, they might help some folks out :3
the deers one is a mith, they can hear and see within a range but smell is not a part of the game
Greydwarves start spawning in meadow after killing first boss(deer) not elder and resting/rested don't require you sitting, just stopped and not wet
good point, you're right about the greydwarves. You do need to sit for rested if you are NOT sheltered
One exception to the 'not wet' requirement for resting is if you are in a hot tub, then you are able to rest/be resting, but that's a special circumstance.

21:07 does anyone know if this works for ashlands flametal veins as well???? :o
i can't say for sure honestly
i knew all of these but this was still a great video to get some refreshers.
Thank you sir! Definitely a beginner oriented video
The amount of times I have pushed, built routes, and such to move tamed animals is now embarrassing. Thanks for the tip on the harpoon. That will save me so much time! LOL
no problem!
@@SpazzyjonesGaming yes. But you say "push the log into other objects" instead of "other logs" in order to break it. Other objects will do no damage to logs, which for a long time has frustrated some people including myself :)

0:59 if your on PC and use controller you should actually turn on auto sprint. Also go to controller and change the preset to console if you are kinda new because it’s a much better layout
Oh fair enough. I personally have never played on controller
@@SpazzyjonesGaming I play games with my dad that’s around 60. Since we are playing from miles apart it’s good to put him on controller because controls are the same for every game and it’s no different to his PS3 XD.
It also tells you all the controls when you hit pause so it’s very helpful. Controller is the perfect input for casual players on 90% of games
@@ReepsWasteOfTime 100% agreed. much more approachable than a mouse and keyboard. Amazing that you can stay connected with your dad despite the distance between you

okay 57. I thought it had to be work bench only. Now I feel it's much easier to maintain my massive backyard with all the animal farms. I no longer have to build weird workbench towers that are annoying to repair 😭😭
thats right!
I didn't know the trick of switching to the hammer and sheathing it. I'll try to learn it, but it's hard enough for me not to hit R to undraw my bow, even after 4 years... (btw, comments, if you don't know, right-clicking a drawn bow will undraw it as normal games do. This would've been a good tip for this video; I don't think it's in the controls).
yeah its a good one. Commonly used by speedrunners to get around quickly. Ooh that is a good one. I knew you could undraw a bow like that but never thought to include it as a t tip
I remember when I learned 66. Actually so much better finding silver with a hammer vs dumb wishbone. And you can find early silver
isn't it!
Caveat to 13 - corresponding work bench that is a high enough level for the unlock of the item you want to repair. You can't repair a black metal atgeir at a level 1 forge
Very good point. Thanks for pointing that out
I like using the spear for it's ability of having a large aggro range when theown. It's good when trying to get boars at runestones. They all come to you rather than having to chase them all down. 😂
Yeah spears do have a nice range
i never knew the flower stone circles in the tip 39 were unbreakable! i thought they were normal stone :O
Great for building bases on!
The zooming on the minimap I thought was just a VR feature! you mean to tell me I made it all the way to the Ashlands biome and never knew this! 2:20 seconds was only as far as I made it before learning something new lol.
Hahaha man I never knew this feature for SOoo long
I might be wrong but I’m fairly certain that zooming on the mini map only became active after the Ashlands update
Im glad you got a sponser on this video 🤙

70, did not know they would reduce stamina drain while building. The amount of time I have wasted building my mountain castle waiting for stamina is scarring now.
Yeah it's great! Definitely the clothes to wear when working on your base
One think
Not all events start if you are on base
In mountains you can be attack by wolfpack anywhere

@@SpazzyjonesGaming i also have 1856 hours in war thunder and you should use real game play videos to promote it, the trailers don’t show the entire experience in full glory, only a hint,
The valkyrie that brings you to Valheim is NOT fallen. The actual fallen valkyries are the ones that live in the Ashlands. Well living is a term loosely applied considering I'm confident they're undead. They're distinctly evil whereas the ones that bring vikings to Valheim are either good or at worst neutral.
yes thats my bad very good point. They are just Valkyrie. As you said, the fallen are in the ashlands!

Addition to 87, also going thru portals clears fire at least, I assume poison as well.
Nice one. Good call
It doesn't necessarily clear it, the duration of the effect just keeps ticking down during the time you're in the portal without you being able to take damage. Same thing works with entering crypts and caves, but those are quicker than portals so you'll usually only avoid some of the effect and not all.

87 seems to be patched. Relogged twice recently to swimming in the ocean with no leviathan within sight
So its definitely been nerfed. For me it still worked when i disconnected immediately after the leviathan started groaning but not after it started submerging
The Valkyrie that brings you to Valheim is not fallen, just a normal Valkyrie

There is no secondary attack for stagbreaker. Slamming the ground is the primary attack.
