I know these videos were from 3yrs ago but, I've just recently got my boyfriend a beardie as a birthday surprise and tho I've raised snakes most of my life, I don't know the first thing about lizards. These videos have been a huge help for me! I was honestly completely overwhelmed with the amount of care these guys must be handled with and your videos have made everything so simple and easy to understand.
Hows your beardie?? My boyfriend and I just got one this weekend. I've had a few exotic pets in my life but this is my first reptile and I feel like a new mom. SO overwhelming with conflicting advice. But I love this channel
i want a beardie but i work nights so i feel like we wouldn’t have time to bond if i’m asleep all day. maybe one day when things change. my leopard gecko’s schedule works great with mine lol
Yayy I was one of the people that requested this! This video was so helpful to me, as I am getting my beardie in two weeks. This video filled in a lot of questions, as I want my bearded dragon to be healthy and hygienic!
I soak all my beardies accessories and decor in bleach water once a week and scub with with a scrub pad underwater after it comes out of the soak, as for his tank I use vinegar and water spray and it cleans it really well
Ik this is 3 yrs ago but I’m getting one Saturday for my band I been watching a hella ton of videos on how to care for them and what you hv to do to keep them alive so Ty for this ✨
I’ve always used Dawn dishsoap & water to help clean my beardie’s tank. I’m so glad to hear you do the same because I’ve always wondered if this was okay!!
I use dawn for all his accessories and scrub them. Then for the actual tank I use spray and let it dry do you think that’s okay? My tanks big and idk how to wash it completely
@@rachelgreen1527I do, yes! Im not a bearded dragon professional (altho I do have one, I try to do my best lol) but I usually wash mine’s tank with water and nontoxic glass cleaner for reptiles (which you can buy at a local pet store or Amazon!) and I use dawn dish soap and water to clean her accessories when needed, and let them dry completely before placing back in the tank. Hope this helps!!!! ☺️
I would not over bath them or when there babies it is very stressful for them, but helps aid in good hygiene, hydration and helps with shedding and passing bowel movements and tummy aches or problems diagnosed by vet.
Can you tell my bearded dragon toothless that baths are spost to be shallow?? He loves swimming so i make sure the tub is clean of chemicals and i make it shallow at the deeper end. He starts black bearding when i turn off the water and tries to swim while black bearding. I always make sure the shallow end is low enough for him and just watch him swim. Sorry had to share my weird dragon haha :3
I have a baby bearded dragon I named him Ozzy I feed him dead crickets and he's not eating or drinking if you can give me some tips that'll be nice🙏🙏🙏😁
Hi! i know this video is old, but I saw how you talked about your beardie's tail not being able to shed when it was a baby and that's why it had that little black ball as you called it at the tip. My beardie has had that since I got him and I didn't know what it was so I just left it alone. Am I supposed to do something for that, or should I just continue to leave it alone?
my baby beardie poops on a mat but we disinfect everything every week so shes fine also she lives in a 60 gallon tank and poops on the cold side, and never on the warm side, plus she is always basking high up so im not worried
I like your channel, but I am curious why you didn’t mention a proper temperature range for water to be instead of saying don’t make it too hot or too cold?
My 3rd dragon his name is wizard. When he was a baby he bit off three of his toe’s I was doing HW and he was doing something weird so I went over there he was biting his toes. Took him to the vet and they gave us stuff to clean it while it healed. We had him for a week and was almost done sheading at the pet store they did not help him right and had some left we did not see and it was bugging him so he bit it off 🤦♀️
I’m getting a bearded dragon for my birthday, but my parents are worried that if I do a bioactive substrate that every time I take them out, the sand will stick to them and fall on my carpet. Will this be a problem to look out for?
I just love bearded dragons there just one of my favorite reptiles in the world ! I have a leopard gecko that is a hypo sun glow morph his name is chip k . I try to learn as much as I can before adopting a reptile and your videos really help with that thanks ! ☺️
One thing that's wrong is that you can not keep water in the tank, it's best to spray them once or twice a day or the bath will help them to be more hydrated.
Very helpful video thank you.. I am thinking about getting a bearded dragon of my own. Is it possible to over hydrate your dragon by bathing to much?!?
This is so helpful! Also, I saw that loose particle substrates never really get clean? Like, they leave behind particles so you need too change it once a week. IDK?
That depends, it you're just using loose substrates by themselves, they will need to be changed about once a month. If you're using loose substrate in a bioactive setup, the beneficial bacteria and cleanup crew keep the soil clean for you. 😊
She just really didn't like pooping in her tank, so she'd run back and forth when she needed to go. When I noticed that, I'd jump up and put her in the bath. I guess with the repitition of that, she learned that if she ran back and forth, she didn't have to poop in her tank. Now she just uses it as her signal haha
Our bearded dragon likes to poop on a log in the tank... wouldn't that absorb poop like the carpet? We contact scrub with a disinfectant wipe after but not sure if you have tips.
I just got a bearded dragon and her name is Muffin. She is a juvinile and it is towards the end of the first week. Should I bathe her or wait til the second week so she can get used to my hand and touch more
Hey girl! I love your videos and watch all the time... but I’m worried and scared out of my mind! My beardie (9 month old female) hasn’t pooped in 10 days! Her temps are perfect- I’ve become OCD about this - lol. She is acting normal. I’ve already tried the warm baths - 3 days in a roll. I fed her prune baby food mixed with a little olive oil - she ate that like a champ! I did that 2 days in a row. Still nothing. I’m so worried! Is there anything else you can suggest? Or anybody reading this? Help please! 🥺 I have also been rubbing/massaging her tummy also. Nothing feels hard in her tummy & she doesn’t mind me doing it either. 😑
Sweet Treats Baking / yeah, I will call first thing in the morning to make an appt ASAP. It sure would be nice if she pooped before the appt. lol. Thanks for commenting
I would definitely take her to the vet if you’re worried. The prune baby food + olive oil would have been my suggestion. If you can get hornworms, they ALWAYS make my beardie go poop. And it can be normal to go that long for them, but since it’s never happened before, I’d definitely go have her checked out just to make sure 🙂 best of luck to you and your beardie!
Elle's Reptiles thank you so much for the response! I really appreciate it! ❤️ I’ll be taking her first thing in the morning. She is my everything and just thinking something may not be right, is killing me! Ugh! Again, thanks so much!
Which do you prefer: Bearded Dragon or Leopard Gecko? I’m wanting to get a power reptile, but I’m tossed between the two. I do have little reptile experience from a previous leopard gecko.
If you're cleaning it appropriately and thoroughly, it can be. The issue with turfs and carpets (other than nails getting caught) is just people not cleaning them correctly, causing bacteria/parasite build up in the tanks.
My favorite is boiling it if it’s small enough (for about 30 minutes to an hour) You can also bake it in the oven at around 200°F for 30 minutes to an hour Or for large pieces, you can soak them in a large container in a bleach water solution for 24 hours - use very little bleach, like a capful. Then you dump it, add fresh water + dechlorinator, soak it for another 24 hours. Dump that, soak again in the fresh water + dechlorinator solution for another 24 hours. You might have to do this until it no longer smells like bleach.
I have a couple videos showing how, but essentially, you're going to put the bugs in a sterilite bin that you've put some kind of ventilation in, or a cricket keeper works for smaller amounts of bugs. If it's crickets/dubia, you fill it with egg cartons or toilet paper rolls for them to hide in. You put some kind of hydration in there for them (I just use a plastic container filled with wet napkins). Then you can feed them pre-made things like cricket calcium or bearded dragon pellets, or fresh vegetables. For things like superwoems, you fill a bin or cricket keeper with oatmeal or wheat bran. Then throw in some fresh veggies. 😊 That sounds like a lot but they're very easy to keep!
Dechlorinated water is best. I use reptisafe in my tap water, but you can also buy $1 jugs of distilled water to use (and you don’t have to treat it), or you can distill water yourself but just putting it in a large open container and letting it sit out for a couple days
You shouldn't use regular nail clippers actually they can cause fracturs throughout the whole nail. You have to use nail clippers specifically used for small animals;since they have a circular blade it cuts all around the nail at once rather than cutting just the top and bottom risking nail fractures..
Beardies poop like daily lol no way i would want my beards stuck in their enclosure with their crap for a whole week. In the wikd they can move away to a different unsoiled area of their very large territory but they can only go so far in a tank. Great video!
My beardie never takes a bath or gets his nail clipped. He's so happy getting food and snuggling in a blanket. My kids do put him up to some gladiator challenges for entertainment and he roams the house free.

Cool. I’ve heard lots of people say that they use vinegar and it works well. 😊
It does, cleans and disinfects really well, I may clean my tanks and setups a bit excessively but I feel it keeps them healthier

Hello, I have a quick question I hope you can answer. What do you use to clean the tank and food/water bowls?
Sweet! Another great vid for the Reptilians! I've been sending lots of new beardie parents your way. Also, Zaz is looking extra gorgeous today!
Awww thank you so much! That made my day 😁
Love watching your videos!! You and your animals are adorable lol

I scrub my carpet with antibacterial soap and use a garden hose , come winter it will go in the wash machine I have 2 so one is always getting washed
I don't have a beardie, but someone needs to come up with a litter box for these critters.
I m curious about how to get tile on the Tank
I'm working from home now so I feel like this is the perfect time to get a dragon. I'm so excited
Just been watching videos for the last few weeks as we have just got ourselfs a dragon!!!! Hope you got yours and are getting on well!!!
8:27 my beardie whos to lazy to move to use the bathroom:
Sand doesn’t cause impaction, calcium sand does.
Where can i get tile I’m sure Home Depot but what type of tile is it?

What about super natural clean fragrance free baby wipes??
What's better sand or tile? If sand which kind ?? Thanks 😊 our dragon is 1 year old 🦎
I've used a vinegar and water solution in a spray bottle as a disinfectant and let it air our after. Is this still okay?
You said don't put anything in the bath water, what is the reptile safe stuff your putting in. Is that something I should be using?
Omg! My dragon is missing the tip of her tail too! That’s how I got her since she was a baby 😊
My dragon drinks from his water bowl that is in his cage.

I'm using ground walnut shells by Thrive. What's your opinion on that, I was told it's on to use it
I’m getting a bearded dragon for my birthday, but my parents are worried that if I do a bioactive substrate that every time I take them out, the sand will stick to them and fall on my carpet. Will this be a problem to look out for?
Kinda. I use sand and topsoil and when I take him or his decor out sand comes out
