100% Agree with everything mentioned. My Beardie is 11 Months, first pet lizard and reptile. I thought I did a lot of research, and foolishly listened to the pet shop employees of big name stores who just said things to say them when I was a little confused, to sell me things. Luckily after realizing mistakes and continually striving to be a good beardie mom, I kept researching and people like you have made the care so much easier. My little guy almost ate me out of house and home (with all the bug runs I was making)! I didn't even know you could order bugs in bulk till months later! lol I learned there is a local pet shop not even far from me who specialize in JUST reptiles. I support them now and go to them for supplies and update them on how he is doing. Finding a trusted vet who specializes in reptiles/beardies is important too, cause sometimes doctors will take them in appointments and then shrug. xDDD
Also, it is possible to potty train beardies. Mine doesn't go in his tank, I put him in a plastic container with a bit of warm water that he poops in, then take him out and clean him off, and flush the dirty water down the toilet. :)

Hi, I just found your page today and we’ve had our bearded dragon for about a year and a half. His name is Mr. Long clause. He said there’s a lot of stuff that they don’t teach you that you need to know to teach that to get the dragon it’s crazy like the lighting and they should really train the people at the store a lot more better, but ours is big fat, healthy and he loves us and I’ll be watching way more of your page
Thank you so much for all your videos! I'm learning English and planning to get a dragon in the near future, so this is a double benefit for me! All the best!
Great video! A bearded dragon is the next reptile we're adding to our collection - we have one on reserve at our local (not big brand) pet store, for when they get them in next. I was surprised about how much they eat...as we live in Canada, dubia roaches are illegal, so I guess it will be lots and lots of crickets.
Mealworms are a perfectly fine food sorce as well. If you would like a more in depth video on different feeders, Cold Blooded Creations has some great videos on bearded dragons.
I'm not sure what happened to that video. But here's my newest one: Bearded Dragon Won't Eat Salads? Tips For Stubborn Beardies ruclips.net/video/xz52kLCqKDE/видео.html
About getting bearded dragons, especially babies to eat their salad, I've heard that fruit does the trick sometimes, as they like the sweet smell and taste of the fruit and when they eat the fruit, they inevitably get some greens in their mouth as well and eat it and then they end up eating the salad every day like they are supposed to. I don't know how well it works, adding fruit to their salad, but I figure that when I get a bearded dragon, if it doesn't eat it's salad, I might try adding fruit to it to see how well that works. As for the lots of bugs thing, I already knew that going into deeper research on bearded dragon care. That's why I plan on breeding my crickets and my roaches. The superworms on the other hand, I don't plan on breeding, as it would only be a few of those per insect feeding, so even 100 superworms would be several months worth.
Thank you 🙏I’m loving your channel 💕we have 4 geckos (3 leos and a crested) we also and had 2 beardies we adopted from a classroom. Our beardies lived to be 20 + years! well, yesterday we adopted a sweet 5-6 year old beardie who was donated to the highly entrusted reptile resource - east bay vivarium - a sweet girl, fully grown, needing a home. So many reptiles are in need of a forever home due to previous owners circumstances. We can’t wait to bond with this girl, checking on her every couple of hrs 😍we held her at the Vivarium, inside and outside -we’re just in love. Totally excited to come across your content as we realize we are officially reptile hobbyists.
Not a Beardie owner yet but I have turtles. My vet was the one who told me crickets carry parasites. Never fed crickets since. Haven't had parasite problems since.
Hi! My juvenile dragon [3-4 months old] eats whole salads and around 5 crickets a day. He looks good, poops a lot, and enjoys the hunt. It seems to be enough for him, and I just realized how lucky I am that he loves his veggies.
I have had my baby for about a month. He FINALLY ate greens for the first time on his own and i no longer have to use anstringe to give him water. He LOVES collard greens and will devour them now. I learned to givr greens FIRST while he is hungry and then give him the bugs after. I love my little guy
@@DoubleDragonHotel for babies, arent dubia roaches a bit tricky since they are kinda big and thick? it was ok for my juvenile, but my baby was so small compared to the dubia roaches, making it harder to eat.
Helpful tidbit for people in places where dubias are illegal (Most famously FL). You can practically sub them for Discoid roaches which are ok to have in FL (I believe they naturally occur there? Don't quote me on that). But they are very similar to dubias as far as nutrition goes. Just figured I'd put that out there if you really hate crickets but live in FL and are sad about not being able to use dubias.
I've wanted a bearded dragon since I was young n started doing research n now I'm older and still learning new things will be getting one soon and I think I'm ready 😬☺️
Sweety Monroe I disagree with Craigslist. In fact it's probably the worst place to buy animals in general, let alone reptiles. I've had many bad experiences with rehoming reptiles on that site as well as people I know, a lot of them that I rescued had a lot of severe health issues later on, that was not stated in the advertisement. If you're wanting to rehome a dragon, I would suggest pets4homes and/or other verified websites of the such. Or just from a local reptile shelter.
I got a baby beardie yesterday and I felt like I was doing everything wrong. I have a coiled uvb dome lamp and I poured too many crickets into the cage and couldn’t get them out and I was scared they would hurt my dragon. He hasn’t been eating and he always looks stressed and he won’t eat his salad either so this video helps
This was amazing! Thank you for this video, im going to be getting a beardie soon, so im looking forward to it! I have the tank as a 40gal (for a baby/juvenile) and its bioactive!! So excited!
If I got a baby leopard gecko and a bearded dragon at a pet supplies plus, petsmart, petco or whatever else, Will I be able to tame them like I would if I git them from a breeder? I'm asking because there aren't any local Reptile stores around even though I thought there used to be, but I guess not. Pet supplies plus is like 5 minutes away and they have baby bearded dragons and leopards geckos.
I would start to breed dubia roaches because my crickets die even when I do so much stuff for them but my dad hates the idea of if 2 or more escape and infest our house. I only breed mealworms right now. I might try to breed super worms too.
I'm getting my first beardie soon... I've ordered a 4' x 2' x 2' viperia black pvc tank with a mesh lid, the shop I'm getting the beardie from said they don't recommend pvc and they said I should have gotten wood but ive already bought it due to it being highly recommended. They'll still allow me to get the beardie but I have to sign a form which is slightly worrying, just searching for advice as you seem to be the best person to ask!
I love my baby soooooo much but after this health episode we have had recently (thousands of dollars, multiple vets, wrong diagnoses, months of me treating him between 1-2 hours a day to get him well again) I’m not sure if i would have done it. And i DID all the research, esp watching you and your YT colleagues). Not to mention my very well known breeder was incredibly unhelpful and rude when I reached out to her to see if his clutch mates were going through the same things. She blamed my husbandry, which I confirmed was an A+ with an exotics vet and expert. I think she thought i wanted my money back, but all I wanted was some insight. Vet said his toes aren’t normal and are an issue due to breeding. I’m proud of myself bc I nursed him back to health, but will likely have to continue with supps to for the rest of his life. It’s just a LOT. If i hadn’t gotten laid off from my job because of Covid idk what would have happened! Sorry for the ramble! Lol! I would also say alwaysssss take your beardie to the vet when you first get them regardless of any symptoms. And also, to make sure your beardie is HYDRATED at all times ♥️ love ya!
Oh no. 💔 That's rough. I'm so sorry you had to go through that, and shocked that the breeder was rude. I had to go through a lot with Zsasz at first too, so I know how stressful can be. It's good that he has someone who cares for him so much 🥰. And yes! I 100% agree with taking all new animals to the vet when you get them, to make sure they're healthy from the beginning! 😊
Elle's Reptiles i love your videos sm boo! i wish u had MORE! thank you for being such a light. May God bless you and Mushu sends big lizard hugs to you and Zsasz!
i just got my first lizard and its a bearded dragon and we named him cricket bc he loves crickets😂he also likes kale to but we cant find any fruits and vegetables that he likes yet besides kale haha
This is a bit late but one super tip to get them eat anything is adding bee polen, springle some on the food and you will see they will eat anything, it makes them think the food is bugs, and it's super good for them, researche it and you will see, hope this helps
I recommend buying ground wall nut shells. They sell this for bearded dragons, and it is much better than sand. It looks and act like sand, but it had some benefits! Such as; it is easy to burrow in, it's better for the digestive system if they accidentally swallow some, and it keeps heat in, just like normal sand. Cleaning poop up is horrific, but otherwise it is a great product :)!
I don't even know if in getting one, and it'll be a couple months before I do know. So I already have a vet that ik will see a beardie and Ive already started my research. Also, thank you so much for these videos, they are helping so much.
I did some research and found that you can also feed them black soldier fly larvae. Apparently, black soldier fly larvae are very VERY very nutritious, and they are NOT GROSS!
Yep! BSFL are great to feed to beardies! I like getting them and adding them to my beardie's salad. They're nice and small and cause movement in the salad, which makes the bearded dragon more excited about eating veggies as well. 😊
I absolutely LOVE the videos you make!! So helpful and makes me feel like I'm doing a good job and it's not just MY dragon! My baby doesn't like salad AT ALL!!
You can save a lot of money with a solar meter 6.5. Test the uvb output and replace the bulb when needed. Sometimes you can adjust the height of the bulb depending on your setup to get a little closer to the animal as the bulb ages. Bulbs can be doa, go out after a couple weeks, or last 2 years but you don't know that without measuring it. I hate crickets as feeders they are so obnoxious. Bearded dragons are not cheap and take a ton of work for sure.
I've done research but got allot of different answers. She is about 2 years old. I only have 1 vet here that takes reptiles. I'm worried that she's sick and not in brumation
Why is sand a bad thing or frowned upon? I'm thinking about pur having a bearded dragon so I've been watching alot of videos to be prepared before hand and this is the first I've heard this. I own several Crested geckos so I'm not totally ignorant to caring for reptiles, but I know dragons are alot different. So anything I don't already know would help tremendously.
I love this!! I just got my beardie (10 weeks old) a week ago, and she's only pooped 3 times since then. she ate her worms and veggies very steadily and was such a good girl, and yesterday I fed her 37 small dubia for the first time and she hasn't pooped yet, and I don't want to overfeed her. I gave her just 5 dubia today to make sure she wasn't hungry even though she seemed full and hadn't pooped. any tips? tysm!
I'm in the UK 🇬🇧 and doing loads of research on bearded dragons 🐉 👌. Hopefully getting the main set up/tank on pay day (26th July) still looking for a baby (male Hopefully) but the local reptile store are selling tiny babies (little finger size!!) for £150 . So looking for a breeder or slightly cheaper... Great Vlogs 👍 Thank you 😊
When I first got my beardie, she refused to eat crickets with antennas. They scared her and I would have to remove them for her to even get close. Was so glad when she outgrew that.
I recently bought a baby bearded dragon for my son and came across your channel, very helpful information, subbed right away, have a great new year. One question, when can I introduce Popcorn Blaze (my 5 year old named him that) to fruits? and when we do, what fruits do you recommend? What types of greens do you recommend? thanks for you time, Cheer from Texas.
Fruits are like a treat basically! But some are toxic like avocados. And some have too high acidity levels. They have whole lists of fruits. Collard and Mustard greens are really good for them! Also like fruits they have whole lists!
So I actually cant use the tube lights because i cant properly dispose of them. i cant throw them in the trash and nowhere in my area will dispose of them. what im going to do instead of the single basking light and single compact coil UVB is have a third light that will also be UVB. I already have the beardie and if i rehome him to anyone nearby then they will have the same issue or just simply not take care of him and i cant risk that.
Thanks for all the videos! They are done so well! I bought a 2 month old beardie for my son a week and a half ago and can barely get it to eat. We've got up to 6-8 roaches a day, but it doesn't go crazy like other baby beardies I see online. Is it normal for the appetite to leave for so long after coming to a new home?
I started giving my baby beardie salad in the morning when she first woke. Because she’s extremely hungry when she wakes up and will eat anything . Now she LOVES salad at 3 months old.
Thank you for the roach reminder. It’s been awhile, because I lost my last Beardie in a house fire. I think I remember having to make a home for the roaches - right? I do have a new rescued 2 year old. I tried ‘cork’ bark this time. I think it’s a terrible buy. It’s either mislabeled or something is wrong because there’s sawdust appearing. Maybe it’s cork and crickets, but it comes to a texture like sand. Before I used rocks and slate to make a hide. I think that was a better idea. Thoughts?
I love the video, I just want to share that I have 2 bearded and your right and some cases when it comes to some dragons being picky with their diets, BUT my youngest dragon is strange he will ONLY eat Dubia Roaches and fact it’s always been that way I think it’s a blessing in disguise, just wanted to share that. Keep doing your thing girl. Congrats on your on going success.
Thank you you are you're very great help I do have a four month old bearded dragon does not like vegetables just watched your video about feeding going to try that hopefully it'll eat vegetables after a while I keep watching your videos thank you so much this dragon is for a child that has autism so we're taming it and raising it for her she loves it and it seems the animal likes her anyway thank you so much hon
Perfect timing! I just got a 6 year old rescue beardy who was kept in a 20 gallon long and had the same lights his whole life. He is super stunted and has a kinked tail and some missing nails. I can not wait to upgrade him and give him all if the lights he needs! I named him Elvis. P.S. I was the 100th like on you video!
New reptiles should be quarantined on paper towel (ideally for three months) to monitor their health. After, a suitable loose substrate such as a deep layer of a soil/sand/clay mix is best for burrowing enrichment :)

Your videos have been soooo helpful in answering questions i have and getting my set up right!
I'm surprised dwarf bearded dragons (Rankin's Dragons), aren't more popular in the USA. They're pretty much like a bearded dragon, just small.
Bee pollen sprinkled over your greens will help attract them and they love it ! my dragon was picky as hell .... hes now munching down on greens.
Great video! A bearded dragon is the next reptile we're adding to our collection - we have one on reserve at our local (not big brand) pet store, for when they get them in next. I was surprised about how much they eat...as we live in Canada, dubia roaches are illegal, so I guess it will be lots and lots of crickets.
sUPERWORMS!!!!!
Mealworms are a perfectly fine food sorce as well. If you would like a more in depth video on different feeders, Cold Blooded Creations has some great videos on bearded dragons.
My beardie is almost one and he refuses to eat any plant that isn't growing out of the ground. I needed the salad video!
I'm not sure what happened to that video. But here's my newest one:
Bearded Dragon Won't Eat Salads? Tips For Stubborn Beardies
ruclips.net/video/xz52kLCqKDE/видео.html
What kind of wedding you say no sand I used to get sea shells or their shells now I use dirt that the exotic pet store said to use
Mine isn't eating any of it and I have fruit in it so I want to know too! Lol
Everything you said is spot on. I used to have 2 bearded dragons and thankfully they never had to experience the vet. Nice video!
Thank you! 😊
The main thing I wish I knew was:
He's really gonna eat nearly 1000 crickets a month. Start your own colony for sure.
Crickets should be kinda last on your list for staple bugs. Research dubia roaches, much better for them, and easier to breed, buy, dust and feed.
@@DoubleDragonHotel for babies, arent dubia roaches a bit tricky since they are kinda big and thick? it was ok for my juvenile, but my baby was so small compared to the dubia roaches, making it harder to eat.
@@hellobello1903 Some suppliers have very tiny ones. There are also small phoenix worms that are goof.
Double Dragon Hotel ooh I might try out Phoenix worms thanks
@@hellobello1903 You're welcome :)
Yes, definitely! 😊
Can you do a video top five animals I would love to own!!!!!!Your the best I hope your channel grows more !!!!!!
I can definitely do an updated one 😊
This was amazing! Thank you for this video, im going to be getting a beardie soon, so im looking forward to it! I have the tank as a 40gal (for a baby/juvenile) and its bioactive!! So excited!
Ooooh very nice! 😊
And congrats! 🎉
@@ellesreptiles Thank you! I picked her up yesterday and she is settling very well!!
Sorry if this is weird but your voice is so calming
I am so glad I found you. This info is ' beyond' helpful.
♥️ aww I'm glad I could help!
@@ellesreptiles Ok. I took the Plunge. I'm now the proud owner of a Banana Pectinata.
I just got a bearded dragon 3 months old and the owner of it said it only eats 3 crickets a day what should I do?
This sounds very similar to the experience with my baby dragon.
Melissa Hellmann oh Melissa I’m so sorry. It’s been rough!!!
i just got my first lizard and its a bearded dragon and we named him cricket bc he loves crickets😂he also likes kale to but we cant find any fruits and vegetables that he likes yet besides kale haha
Super cute name! My beardie's favorite is butternut squash 😊 she also used to love strawberries as a baby, not so much anymore haha
Very informative. Just got my first Bearded Dragon and this is great to hear. Thanks for the info!
Glad it was helpful! And congrats on your new beardie 🎉
I don't even know if in getting one, and it'll be a couple months before I do know. So I already have a vet that ik will see a beardie and Ive already started my research. Also, thank you so much for these videos, they are helping so much.
That's awesome. If you do end up getting one, just know that you started off wonderfullu, doing the research first 💜💜💜
I have been watching a couple of your videos to help me get prepared so when I get my bearded dragon on the 19th
The dome part had me chuckling, all I could hear was that you had a Dimsdale Dimmer-Dome. XD
I just got my bearded dragon and I have been taking notes on everything so thank you!
Can you do one on a leopard gecko please!?😁
That's a really good idea! Thanks 🥰
Elle's Reptiles I didn’t realize you replied and I am sooo happy!!!!!💕
Ty for the info…
Heyyyy hows everything just wanna say congrats on 20000 and growing. U deserve it. Take care and stay safe. Peace love and reptelles💪🤙🤙
Thank you so much for always being so supportive 🥰
Thank you 😊 you guys have a great Sunday 🦎
Thank you! I hope you do as well! 🦎
@@ellesreptiles I might not get a beardie... 😭 I just don't know if I have the time!
I absolutely LOVE the videos you make!! So helpful and makes me feel like I'm doing a good job and it's not just MY dragon! My baby doesn't like salad AT ALL!!
Awww thank you. I'm so glad I've helped you out with your beardie 🥰
I hate it that you only have 21 000 you should have over a million but we’ll get there someday
Super awesome video!! Wish I would've found this a lil sooner
Hi! Could help me I'm a beginner at Bearded dragon care and I don't know how hot the bulbs have to be and how that whole light, humidity system works
I have a couple of questions, my bearded dragon has Walnut shell bedding is that OK how do I know if my bearded dragon is in brumation orsick 😫
I gave her just 5 dubia today to make sure she wasn't hungry even though she seemed full and hadn't pooped. any tips? tysm!
try some more greens and only a little blueberries (can be kinda bad only do a couple per week) but it always helps my beardie poop!
Like the confidence in each video u make.
Great Vlogs 👍 Thank you 😊
Thank you so much, and good luck! 😊
Great bearded dragon Information. Best wishes from germany (from me and my baby ball python with name "Nagini").

Watch this video it is helpful
Yes! Love LizardGuru ♥️
Thank you I watch her all the time!!! I watched the video it was very helpful!!!
Yes lights are so expensive 😮
When I first got my beardie, she refused to eat crickets with antennas. They scared her and I would have to remove them for her to even get close. Was so glad when she outgrew that.
Thank you so much for your video. I just got a 7 week baby and your video helped me so much.
Help ....My dragon will not est on his own. I've tried everything.
Hi I was wondering if I could build a bearded dragon enclosure using shelf boards that have the for Formica texture on them
I started giving my baby beardie salad in the morning when she first woke. Because she’s extremely hungry when she wakes up and will eat anything . Now she LOVES salad at 3 months old.
Yes! Wonderful tip 😊
thanks very much and i was going to get sand but nope now I'm way more prepared I made 9 pages of info about breaded lizard
For the states and countries where dubia roaches are illegal, would discoid roaches be a suitable supplement?
Thank you for the roach reminder. It’s been awhile, because I lost my last Beardie in a house fire. I think I remember having to make a home for the roaches - right? I do have a new rescued 2 year old. I tried ‘cork’ bark this time. I think it’s a terrible buy. It’s either mislabeled or something is wrong because there’s sawdust appearing. Maybe it’s cork and crickets, but it comes to a texture like sand. Before I used rocks and slate to make a hide. I think that was a better idea. Thoughts?
Isn’t it bad to feed them 80-100 crickets a day. I only give mine 2-3 at a time so they don’t over eat
i bought one a week ago, and he only eats 5 crickets??
I love the video, I just want to share that I have 2 bearded and your right and some cases when it comes to some dragons being picky with their diets, BUT my youngest dragon is strange he will ONLY eat Dubia Roaches and fact it’s always been that way I think it’s a blessing in disguise, just wanted to share that. Keep doing your thing girl. Congrats on your on going success.
Thank you so much! 😊
Oh that's awesome! The best kind of pickiness haha
Elle's Reptiles....I agree
Thank you you are you're very great help I do have a four month old bearded dragon does not like vegetables just watched your video about feeding going to try that hopefully it'll eat vegetables after a while I keep watching your videos thank you so much this dragon is for a child that has autism so we're taming it and raising it for her she loves it and it seems the animal likes her anyway thank you so much hon
Love you girl!! I am definitely going to subscribe.
My baby bearded don't eat that many crickets a day maybe 8😟
Same
Perfect timing!
Awww poor guy, I'm glad he has you to take care of him properly now ♥️
@@ellesreptiles thank you. ❤
Hey there. I tried your code at dubi roach place and does not work. Just FYI
I am about to start my dubia roach colony and I am so excited!
Hey! New to bearded world. You mentioned no sand but you didn’t say what to use as substrate! Thanks
New reptiles should be quarantined on paper towel (ideally for three months) to monitor their health. After, a suitable loose substrate such as a deep layer of a soil/sand/clay mix is best for burrowing enrichment :)
