I recently adopted an adult beardie. We've just been getting used to each other and I've learned that she's not comfortable being held but doesn't mind being on my shoulder. I think she likes having some control. I think my biggest problem is getting her to eat salads though lol. I love her so much.
I know this is a month old comment but mine didn't really love her salads but she LOVES turnip greens so I would give those a try if you haven't already
@@TheBox225 Yup. When mine was young I used to have to put her bugs in her salad to get her to even look at it. Also, I read something about them running into food in the wild so I get a shallow dish and stuck it in her path. Magic.
To be honest I own 7 reptiles. I've noticed a pattern with each of them which is the more you handle them the less stressed they become when it comes to being handled. This isn't to say you should hold them all day on day 1 but that you should gradually acclimate them to being handled more regularly little by little. If you do that over time they will become more handleable. Also, if you allow others to regularly handle them they will become used to other people and not get anxious when a stranger holds them. Whenever I have friends over I get them to hold my beardies so they become more accustomed to it. At first they would all get very anxious when strangers held them whereas now they're very much used to it and don't display anxious behaviour. Anyway, these are just some tips if you want to improve handleability. It's easier to do if you've had the beardie since a baby but I still think it's possible even with older beardies that have been adopted. Cheers!
My husband's Bearded Dragon " Puppy" is so chill. She is named Puppy because she cuddles and watches TV with us. She is also my husband's registered Emotion Support Animal. He has PTSD & she goes with him to the store & goes shopping with him. She just lays on his chest/shoulder & they shop. He has taken her to our local Safeway shopping for the last 7 years.😊 She has never been aggressive & is a great pet. With a proper set up & supervision/husbandry I think they make fantastic 1st time reptile pets or for mature children 8/9 and up. Cage cleaning, shedding, food & water supervised or with help from parents and good hand washing. Our great nephews love Puppy. We bring her to some family get togethers as well. I love Crested Geckos & have owned many. With the tail dropping and jumping I think they are maybe #2 as a 1st reptile pet for kids /beginners. Only issue with females which are much more friendly is the possible egg laying. We only had this happen 1 time as she saw a male Beardie at the pet store. They both did the arm wave and boom 2 weeks later she laid infertile eggs. So I always recommend feeling their bellies for anything lumpy that isn't food. Great Pets!!😊 🌟💛🧡💛🧡
I got a rescue. Didn't think about getting one but heard someone didn't want her and they left her outside in a tank no lights and she was so cold. Nobody payed attention to her.We have had her for about 3-4 years now and she's doing so well and happy. They named her ziggy and we just kept her name.
I have a beardie that also dit nog get the attention she deserves! Still getting to know her, but she is the sweetest thing I was instantly in love. You have a kind heart for taking care of that beardie! She's lucky!
My beardie currently is doing so well, he's never refused any meals, AND he loves to cuddle when he's tired. Though he's absolutely terrified of my father.
Yesterday, I bought a bearded dragon (my very first pet). Her name is Chi-Chi. She's little, pretty chill, happy, and climbs on my arm whenever I hold her. Bearded dragons are now not only my top-favourite lizards, but also my top-favourite animals.
i hope everything is still going well! i got my first beardie a few months ago and i absolutely fell in love and even my family who hates lizards loves her 😂 i just wish they didn’t require lights so they could always hangout😢
This was great! We got 2 juvenile bearded dragons about 3 weeks ago and they both check out all the boxes for being happy!!! Thanks for the great info.
My beardie is super happy, got him when he was 2 months and I handle him every day so he is really used to people and has never tried to bite me, he is only sassy in the morning so I don't try to pick him up until later in the day😅
Rambo hops on his hammock and waves when he wants out. Mostly super chill, but has his wiley moment! When i feed him, he gets so happy and jumps all around. Sammi eats right out of my hand. Rambo is learning hand feeding. ❤❤
At the time we had only had my bearded dragon for 2 weeks and I think I bonded pretty well with him right away I end up going to the hospital for a week and when I got a phone call from my husband and my bearded dragon heard my voice he started tapping his front feet and he made a squeak noise when I spoke to him I believe that would be a sign for her missing me and that he was happy to hear my voice
as someone who owns a beardie, i can say that beardies are one of the ,goofiest, loving and kindest creatures ever. ive only became a bearded dragon person for abt six months now but now i cant live without them. My girl is a card, when she sees me she'll run up to the tank and wait for me to hold her, like " i see you mom👀" lmao then she"ll snuggle up on my neck for hours.
I love your videos they help so much with how to care for my dragon. He chose me. He saw me, came to the front of the tank where I was and started to wave his little hands. It was so cute, he was expensive but so so worth it.
That is how I just got 2 more dragons I was at the pet shop and walked past the tank and there was on in each tank that came right to me. I loved it at first I wasn't going to get them but I couldn't pass up babies needing a home. I love these two lil knuckle heads. ❤😊❤ I am glad I changed my mind they love coming out and hanging with me.
@@tracypaynter5735 yes beardies are the best. What are your dragon's names? Mine is Gizmo he's getting a lot bigger. How are yours? Mine was the small one of the babies and he was getting picked on. When he comes out of his cage he has to have time on my bed to play on my fuzzy blanket. He slides around in it and he has even snuggled down in my dogs fur. BTW for those who want to say thats because he is trying to get the heat. No thats not the case he stays nice and warm and he is not out long enough to get to that point. But anyway my other guy GEO he loves walking on his leash he is very curios. I bought him these cute little dragon wings that go on the leash he is always getting his attention and loves it. That makes me so happy to hear that our Miso is definitely happy then. He’s such a chill guy and he would sit on one of my husband’s lap while our toddler is on the other lap and our dog is next to them and all 4 of them read some books together! So sweet! ❤❤❤

I received my guy, Drake, when he was about 18 months old and he has never black bearded me or even tried to bite me. He sleeps on a pillow on one side of my bed and has never run off, or really moved from his spot once he is "rocked" to sleep at night. He goes places with me and in some stores and just chills on my shoulder and never moves except to get cuddled closer. I have had several people ask if he was real/alive etc. Lol others have asked me how I got him to be so calm and chilled out and I honestly can't tell them cause he has always been this way from day one. The original owners told me he was a bit bipolar and had bad moods at times, but I've had him for almost 2 years now and he has never shown any bad moods to me. He does Blackbeard when he hears certain voices and shocked me to death the first time I saw the puffy black beard! So far it's just 2 of my friends he does this around. These are wonderful animals and I don't know how I ever managed without my Drake ♥️♥️
Our dragon LOVES us she loves to be with us she is so super chill she loves to curl up on our necks and when she goes back to her enclosure she grabs us and runs back up us bc she likes being with us so much lol and we have you to thank you taught us all of it!! Thanks for the channel!!
My bearded dragon 99% of the time wants to run around after chilling with me for 30 minutes, he's just a super active lizard and he loves to explore the house
A black bears can mean multiple things. It can be a notifier for unrest or stress but if you have a male and female the males will have a black beard to show dominance and to impress the female.
We rescued a malnourished beardy that we've only had for two nights his owners offered him too us they simply just stopped caring for him.. when we got a good look at him he was very flat very skinny I started him on vitamins and feeding him little bits of veggies fruits and crickets only starting out small dont wanna overwhelm him with too much all at once ... but is very cuddly and sweet calm little guy...I think it's a Lil guy seeing he has those very prominent pores were cleaning which looks like no one ever did for him it just surprises me how sweet and calm he is ..anytime he is bored and sees us walking around he will scratch at the glass too come out... he has no attitude shows no sign of being afraid of hands or aggression just a very chill beardy I hope I can get him back too 100 percent.. I've only had one other beardy who sadly passed away at 10 years old but was a very happy nice Lil guy as well ... if anyone has any advice tho on top of what I'm already trying too do that would be great 💜💜
When I got my wheels I wrapped him in a wash cloth and letting him sleep on my chest every night after lights out. A year later I am still doing it but with a bigger blanket lol. He is the chillest dragon ever. We go to Walmart and petsmart and a few other places now.
Cliff (my bearded dragon) headbutts a lot, while also showing a lot bright colors, and does it random. I think he just also likes to do it. I wake up in the middle of the night and see him climbing around, and then he butts his head, then back to normal.
Really appreciate the video, me and my partner have had our beardie for about 7 months and we still feel new to having one, but after seeing this and realising she's just showing positive signs eases my worries 😌 Thank you, you've got my sub 😌
Our guy freaks out when I first pick him up but then settles down. I am worried that he will never be the type that want to just chill out with us. I am trying to work with him to work through the issues. Thanks for the tips.
My beardie, his name is Ekko, is about 6 months and I just got him a little over a month ago, and right now hes cuddling over my chest! He’s been like that about an hour and I just can’t get over how adorable that is!!
My beardie is a cuddle bug she's so spoiled she always wants out her tank and she'll fall asleep anywhere if she's tired like, under my legs, under my pillow she'll sleep wherever it's dark and for some reason she always opens her mouth we think she's smiling but idk I love her so much even tho she loves my mom 🥲
I rescued a water dragon a year ago and I can see how much he trust me. I got him at 3 year old and he had a small tank with a light not strong enough and no humidity devices with a small pool and no climbing branches. He was very unhappy, almost at the edge of dying. It didn't take too long before he realized he was at a better place when I got him a new and more suitable terrarium and a bunch of food everyday. His old owner only fed him one worm per two days which is so much not enough. Today my beautiful and very special water dragon enjoys taking naps on me, getting pets, being handled and he loves going outside when the weather is hot enough. This video made me realize so much things about my lizard and I have to thank you. Even if it's not a beardie it's body language still ressemble, now I know he's truly happy with me! ❤️
My bearded dragon has so much trust in me but don’t like when anyone else touches him 😂 and he is always curious what bag or box I bring in my room he starting running love my lil boy (OffSet)
try to associate your hand with something good! if he likes to eat hand feed him. when i just got mine in april, he let me hold him the first day. but what i did do so that he gets comfortable with my smell and me just being there i would open his enclosure and sit there and go on social media, read a bood and chill things like that. so try that and keep me updated!
Dude you are so knowledgeable! Thank you for doing what you do. You help me alot and my Beardie is happy because of the knowledge I've gained from watching your videos. Keep up the great work!
Honestly I always wanted my very own collection of lizards. I just didn't know if I was able to take good care of them, but after watching your channel I have 4 Bearded Dragons, 3 Leopard Geckos, 2 Turtles, and I just rescued a Uromastyx from the pet shop. This poor thing had stuck shed all over and in his nose. I don't see how this poor thing was breathing. He was in the back of the tiny cage and when he saw me he ran right to the front and was glass surfing. He was about $200 but I had to help him. I took him home he was a lil scared at first but now he walks around my room like he owns the joint lol. Thank you for your vids. These helped me to not only rescue our furry friends but our scaly ones as well. BTW don't wanna leave out your girl tell her I said hey. 😊 Love you guys and the vids. I got my boy draco when he was 2 weeks old and the first time i handled him was right after i adopted him. I took him out of his little cup on the car ride and he latched right onto my finger licked me and then just chilled there for the ride home. We get home and i put him into his new enclosure and he loved it immediately. No stress wasnt scared or anxious just looked around and went right up to his basking spot. 5 minutes later i offered him a cricket from my hand and he took it right away. Every morning when he wakes up i greet him with head pets and pick him up cause he loves when i hold him. From the beginning hes been such a good dude i havent had one issue with him or any signs of aggression. All around the best pet ive ever had
My bearded dragon Almond, she loves climbing on her rock wall, ( made out of foam ) and she goes Behind the fake artificial plant wall on the side of her tank. Whenever I walk into my room and grab out the cricket box, she bolts down and starts window surfing. Sometimes she’s in a calm/sleepy mood when I’m holding her, and sometimes she’s very hyper and jumps around! Thanks for making this!
I have a bearded dragon and she really really chill. She likes to run around sometimes I like to take her and she can get her exercise to and in the summertime. I put her on a leash, a reptile leash, and she enjoys that.
My beardie Donatello usually goes to his cave and is a very calm dragon my question is why does he always go into his cave and what can I do to make him more active.
3/4 dragons not usually sleepy or sluggish suddenly do and idk about yall but it's summer time where we are and our dragons tank is warm same temp as usual I wonder if they're sensing something
I adopted an adult bearded dragon, he is my first reptile and I want to make sure I give him a good life. I am spot on with cats and dogs (they're pretty easy to read) but I keep feeling like my beardie hates me until I watch this. He doesn't panic when I go to pick him up, he eats well, is observant of my presence and has never shown a threat or head bobbing behavior. He will also willing crawl around on my lap/chest. Thanks for educating us new beardie parents
My bearded dragon majority of the time has her mouth open. She loves to climb high up and is very curious. She rarely has her beard black but when she does she's still calm. So I'm glad hear I guess I'm doing good.
I named my Beans 😁 love the way she dances when she sees me . specially in feeding time . Gets so exited. Love my bby girl beans . She loves her bath times too .
My juvenile bearded dragon passed away suddenly tonight. He was pooping frequently and eating great (although he didnt eat in the last 24hours, which was odd ). I got him when he was very young from a pet store and had him for roughly around 9 weeks. Great eater , great attitude , fairly active.. I thought he had settled very well with us. Im at a total loss trying to figure this out. It fkin sucks tbh
Another thing to note, is that ”teenage" beardies tend to get aggressive. Particularly the boys. They grow out of it pretty quick. Just keep up with the gentle handling.
Bearded dragons are SUCH chill pets! When I first adopted my girl from another family who couldn't care for her, she didn't want to be touched. Once she realized she was safe, she's never gotten aggressive. I've taken her to be watched by friends and family while I was away and she was so comfortable with them. Anyone can hold her and she's chill. My old job we adopted one as a class pet too and he went from super skiddish and aggressive to loving crawling on the teachers and kids! Seeing them bond with you is so satisfying.
I’ve had my beardie Lewis for like 9 months and he’s been one happy fella. Earlier tonight he was chilling on the bed with me watching RUclips, when he crawled up my side and squirmed into a little nook between my arm and body and just immediately went to bed. My fondest memory of my lil scaly friend

try hand feeding her , it can help build that trust and bond. present yourself with goodies like treats and food, she’ll realize that you’re not a bad thing and you shouldn’t hide when you approach her.
I came home to my baby dragon today. They went crazy at the tank walls until I picked them up. That was at 8pm tonight. Its now 10:12pm and they've fallen asleep on my chest. I feel so happy that I've gotten so close so fast with them.
I got a four month old beardie yesterday and I’m so glad he already does these things! He’s very vibrant colors everywhere except his tail (it’s a greyer version of his original colors) though and I need help finding what it is, I’m currently trying to get ceramic heat emitters because I think it might be because of that? If anyone knows it would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to ask questions! Thanks!
My beardie takes naps with my hubby. She also knows she can only come out of her enclosure after she poops, so once she does poop, she'll scratch at the glass to let us know she wants out. I'm happy I found this video to let me know she's happy with us.
feels like head bobbing for dragons is meowing for cats. they don't typically do it when not around people unless for specific reasons, but learn that it gets them what they want, so they keep doing it as a learned behavior
When I put spike in his own new enclosure, he has lightened color, but he also become territorial, he had a 2ft spot, unless you are feeding him. I have been training him with superworms now not so territorial towards me.
Thanks for the information! My baby bearded dragon once got dark I mean he didn’t look like his color at all. I was worried something was wrong but now that I watched this i understand now.
I have a question! I got a bearded dragon a few months ago, and I noticed that she licks the floor or whatever she's on before moving idk how to explain... But I was just wondering if that has a meaning???
Im with my bearded dragon rn she's super chill im just giving her a bunch of cuddles and kisses she is the most spoiled dragon in the world she gives me and my mom the side eye most of the time 4 no reason. she is definitely the most sassy dragon out there but I know she loves me and my family and I love her so much thank you 4 this video it really helped me see that she's having fun and is happy thank you ❤
I’ve been thinking about getting a bearded dragon but quite nervous about holding them too long upright or upside down. What do you think? I’m 48 yrs old and pretty confident with most animals if & when I do tons of research. I’m still nervous about getting all the skin off especially when they are little.
Hey! Well i think personally that you can get one. If you are really confident with animals :) i think the bearded dragon isn’t that fragile so it can handle a lot. Just try to see if your beardie is happy! Goodluck! :) ps: beardies aren’t really difficult pet’s to keep!
My bearded dragon absolutely LOVES to just chill with me for at least 30 minutes to 45 minutes! Also loves to fall asleep on my chest as I watch anime and movies! He's seriously the best!!
When I took my Bearded Dragon to the vet in the car ride there when he saw other cars outside he jumped on my belly and climbed on my shoulder. He felt like he was safe up there in my opinion. @@torquess454 Thank you I felt he had a good life though I’ve heard between 8 to 15 years is an average lifespan for a Bearded Dragon. All depends on genetics etc.

My beardie also like wiggles into me whenever hes sleepy. It's so adorable. He also uses me as a hide when he gets startled in car rides then he'll be nice and calm
My beardie loves nose boops 😂 And his coloring went darker because he was cross with me that the reptile store didn’t have his dubias and he was stuck with leafy greens and worms for a week. THE HORROR. As soon as I got his dubias back he was SO SO SO happy his color lightened right back up. I have a dramatic dragon lol.
I would take him out and let him roam more but I have a very very stupid cat. Sweetest fluffball ever but she doesn’t understand that he’s not used to her yet so she keeps trying to basically sit on him. So I have to limit his time out of his enclosure to keep him from getting too stressed by my moron cat lol. We’re working on it though!

@@twashington3679 its actually not hard, everytime i gave them a bath i did that in the shower. And since they always drink the water too, after a couple months they linked drinking/bathtime with the bathroom and just walked over there
Hands down one of my most favorite bearded dragon pages!! You’ve been SO helpful.
I just got a bearded dragon on christmas! his name is fang. he was scared of me at first but just yesterday i took him into the bathroom (because that’s the only room he can’t hurt himself or jump off of things) and he got on my shoulder for the first time! he stayed there for like 10 minutes! your videos really helped me! thank you!
My Beardie head bobs when he wants out of his viv to run around. I’ve had him for 4 years so we can read each other ❤️
My beardie is a saint. All beardies are precious and if they are mean, put effort into helping to gain their trust and love
Mine loves blueberries and collars greens
Try wiggling it in the bowl. Movement intrigues them. If they are an adult they may not realize that it is food yet.
Awwwww 🥰 people who do things like this are really special

You have a kind heart for taking care of that beardie! She's lucky!
My beardie is so chill he just lays on his hammock and sleeps on my shoulder. Love you, Bean!
My beardie currently is doing so well, he's never refused any meals, AND he loves to cuddle when he's tired. Though he's absolutely terrified of my father.

How do you do it? How did you raise your beardie to eat his vegetables?

As a lizard, I can confirm this is 100% true
Me and my boyfriend's heart sank for him and we were like, "yeah he's definitely the one." But overall my bestie is very happy and spoiled now. He was sad t the shop, bit now he's living his best spoiled life. I love him so so much. I hope yours are well and healthy. Gosh dragons are the best
@@_gojira_exotics_3499 the new babies dont have names yet I need to sex them yet but my others are Crash and GEO. These guys I rescued as well I had them for almost 2 years now. Crash was found on facebook market place. He was a baby when I got him I was told he was a girl later found out he was definitely not lol. He is spoiled as well he has this thing about fuzzies. I am glad you rescued your baby and good luck hope they have a long and happy life with you.

I got my beardie yesterday and we had an instant bond, while watching this he was just chilling on my chest he’s so cute and I love him to bits!

My bearded dragon 99% of the time wants to run around after chilling with me for 30 minutes, he's just a super active lizard and he loves to explore the house
When my Beardie was sick he always had a black beard. He ended up dieing. So watch out for that!
Mine also died like that,
A very sad dead 😓
A black bears can mean multiple things. It can be a notifier for unrest or stress but if you have a male and female the males will have a black beard to show dominance and to impress the female.
That doesn't meant they die the reason why the beard goes black it's annoyed that its sick
Yes that's true thank you
Not me watching this with my beardie completely asleep on my chest
You should really make a video on your bearded dragons diet, salad and live food varieties. Do you work on a schedule?
Really appreciate the video, me and my partner have had our beardie for about 7 months and we still feel new to having one, but after seeing this and realising she's just showing positive signs eases my worries 😌 Thank you, you've got my sub 😌
Our guy freaks out when I first pick him up but then settles down. I am worried that he will never be the type that want to just chill out with us. I am trying to work with him to work through the issues. Thanks for the tips.

My beardie is a cuddle bug she's so spoiled she always wants out her tank and she'll fall asleep anywhere if she's tired like, under my legs, under my pillow she'll sleep wherever it's dark and for some reason she always opens her mouth we think she's smiling but idk I love her so much even tho she loves my mom 🥲
actually when they open your mouth it basically means that they're sweating! it's how they cool off when it's hot
My bearded dragon Kirby runs around his cage like a wild man whenever he poops so we automatically know to go clean it up

i just got a bearded dragon and im still in that week where i cant even HANDLE HIM, its sad
try to associate your hand with something good! if he likes to eat hand feed him. when i just got mine in april, he let me hold him the first day. but what i did do so that he gets comfortable with my smell and me just being there i would open his enclosure and sit there and go on social media, read a bood and chill things like that. so try that and keep me updated!
Keep up with the much needed info.

Hey, I’m new to looking after a beardie, just wanted to say, your videos have helped a lot in helping me look after her. Thank you
Another thing to note, is that ”teenage" beardies tend to get aggressive. Particularly the boys. They grow out of it pretty quick. Just keep up with the gentle handling.
My beardie is in that teenage stage at the moment.
How do you know if they have reached the teenage stage?
Bearded dragons are SUCH chill pets! When I first adopted my girl from another family who couldn't care for her, she didn't want to be touched. Once she realized she was safe, she's never gotten aggressive. I've taken her to be watched by friends and family while I was away and she was so comfortable with them. Anyone can hold her and she's chill.
My old job we adopted one as a class pet too and he went from super skiddish and aggressive to loving crawling on the teachers and kids! Seeing them bond with you is so satisfying.

I'm happy I found this video to let me know she's happy with us.
feels like head bobbing for dragons is meowing for cats. they don't typically do it when not around people unless for specific reasons, but learn that it gets them what they want, so they keep doing it as a learned behavior
that’s smart-
When I put spike in his own new enclosure, he has lightened color, but he also become territorial, he had a 2ft spot, unless you are feeding him.

Another time when my Bearded Dragon saw little kids running around he puffed up at them and crawled in my lap. I’d say he trusted me man do I miss him he passed away at 9 years old couple months ago.

Few years ago I had a bearded dragon, she passed away due to my one mistake with wax worms...it ruined her kidneys or something making her unable to go.. We couldn't bring her to the vet cause we don't have that kind of money. Hearing this makes me happy because she was calm and fit all he covered that a happy bearded dragon acted in this video. And this makes me happy because knowing this she was def happy and had a good life with me. ;-; I miss her.
I hope some time in the future when I get a job to get another one or another lizard, I miss having lizard babies and this time I won't use wax worms as I learned the hard way. Thank you for this video btw it def helped me out a lot on knowing this important info so thank you! ♥
We've only had ours for three days and we're still getting used to each other. The place where we got him told us to 'leave him be' for about two weeks. Excited to bond with them once they've gotten used to their new home 😊
My beardie at one point was chilling then bolted towards me then just sat on me. Startled me but he was happy lmao. Hes super cuddly and I'm pretty sure he loves me
My beardie also like wiggles into me whenever hes sleepy. It's so adorable. He also uses me as a hide when he gets startled in car rides then he'll be nice and calm
My beardie loves nose boops 😂
And his coloring went darker because he was cross with me that the reptile store didn’t have his dubias and he was stuck with leafy greens and worms for a week.
Mine always wants to chill on my head. Super inconvenient 🤣
