Thank you for this! Im planning on getting a bearded dragon once i move out to a house, where ill be able to have more room to have the lizard, ive been doing tons of research so i don’t accidentally neglect it. :) I had no idea crickets and feeder insects were so inexpensive! im thinking of, for a meal for the lizard, a bit of greens, (kale, romaine lettuce, collard greens) meats/insects, (crickets, mealworms) calcium powder, and some others in very small amounts depending on the size of the lizard ill get. ive also really wanted a snake, which i think ill get before getting a lizard. (this channel definitely deserves a sub)
Thank you for the information. This is great. We have an adult we found in our backyard. He was too sweet to be wild, we bought a cage and kept him. He bonded to us. We adopted a baby one and he is a trip!he's a pig. He watches of us eat our own meals.
I'll just leave it in there and every once in a while I'm surprised to look over and he's eating his greens, but usually he prefers the succulent flowers growing in his tank to the greens I give him. He also prefers to drink off his rocks or plants when I mist his tank weekly
My daughters 5th grade class has a bearded dragon and a crested gecko as class pets. The teacher asked if anyone wanted to watch a class pet during winter break, so we brought home the bearded dragon (the crested gecko likes jumping, and my cat would be happy to catch it) The teacher and my daughter have walked me through feeding but this video has made me feel more confident that I won't accidentally kill it. Thank you a million times. 😅
Just got my first beardie 3 days ago, he loves his salad but refuses to eat any insect except hornworms. I offer him dubias, but he just looks at them and refuses. They aren’t too big for him, but I AM getting worried because my two leopard geckos have played the same game with me (refusing to eat due to addiction to other feeders from previous owners) and both lost much tail fat and weight. I just don’t want it to happen with this fella. Any tips?

I wanted to ask a question: I'm new to the reptiles world and I have a baby bearded dragon, but he often struggles to eat crickets since they'd jump away and hide away from it, is there a way to help it with the hunt or do I have to just wait until it eats the crickets? Cause I've found crickets that stayed alive for two days...
I have a question I have 3 beardies. They all range in age from 15 years to 5 months. I have noticed though on occasion they all like to soak in their water bowls. They don’t really drink it just like to soak. My question is have I been doing something wrong for them to like to soak in it on occasions. Especially on of them, she loves to just lounge in it.
it could be multiple things, like it being too hot or they just enjoy it ! sometimes they’ll do it to get mites out or rehydrate. so you just have to scope the possibilities, most likely they’re just doing it for fun.
Does anyone know if Bak Choy is okay for a staple? Lots of the greens mentioned in almost all guides are hard to find where I'm from (Asia). I have to deal with the likes of Bak Choy, Chye Sim and so on...
@@ChiefSweetsUniverseHeh. The site just confuses me more; since they categorize Collards/Mustards/Turnip greens in the same category as Bak Choy as being goitrogenic greens. Where in most sites I read Collards/Mustards/Turnip greens are okay for staple, but with some other sites claiming that Bak Choy is not okay due to goitrogen. I also did some research on goitrogen levels for Bok Choy and Collards (both are considered to be low, specifics unknown), phosphorous levels (collards has about 15 mg more), calcium levels (collards about 117 mg more; which I think could be supplemented via calcium supplements anyway), as well as oxalate level (collards with 9 mg more). Comparing only those two since it seemed Collards would always be an option as a staple on almost every site I visit, and Bok Choy is something readily available to me. I'm considering some form of Spring Mix / Salad Mix/ Mesclun Mix (minus the spinach), and maybe 30-40% Bok Choy.

No worries of it’s a zoo med or exo terra 40 gallon on top of mesh is fine. If it’s a dubia or zen habitat enclosure 120 I’d mount it inside the tank of basking spot is farther than 12 inches away from screen
What’s your opinion on feeding them mice my bearded dragon found out what I feed my snake I saw him freaking out and gave him one and he’d never been happier in his life but I don’t know if that’s healthy for him all the time
I just got a bearded dragon, I wasn't sure on what light to get but I got a med dessert UVB and heat reptile lighting kit, does anyone have an recommendations?
Are you supposed to turn their lights off at night? Or will that freeze them out? The room I plan on keeping my dragon, can get extremely cold at times.
Thank you so much for the video! Have a bit of a question. What would be the best ways to feed a beardie thats undergrown or in other words too small for its age?
Hello! You definitely need high quality uvb like a zoo med t5 10.0 that’s not on top of a thrive screen but more of a screen that allows uvb through. After that definitely need to dust insects with calcium and feed daily 5-15 appropriate sized insects. Once to twice a day
I got a question that I have seem to be able to get a answer to.. I want to put my dragon in a newer even bigger tank.. and I plan on putting my corn snake in the dragons old tank.. but my question is I have bio active tank that’s been going well for a few years.. could I possibly let that tank sit for a little bit and let isopods and springtails clean all the stuff up and then put my corn snake right in there after a few changes I simply just don’t want to swap all the dirt out and collect all the bugs and spring tails.
What would you recommend on feeding baby bearded dragons vs adult bearded dragons when it comes to hornworms? Like how often can they eat them? My baby beardie is around 5 months amd loves his greens and crickets and an occasional super worm but he had his first hornworm today and seemed to enjoy it lol
for a baby bearded dragon (a little under 12 inches), is it okay to feed about 3 medium sized dubia roaches to it per day? Is it also fine for a juvenile bearded dragon (a little under 18 inches) to eat about 5 medium - large dubia roaches a day?
Hiya. I have an adult beardie and I give him a variety of veg everyday as well as dubia roaches as his only insect. I’m a little confused on how many roaches he should be having a week as they are larger and meatier than crickets/locusts and are higher in protein. I usually only give him 2 at once, about twice a week. Is this enough or too much? Some days he will hardly touch his veg bowl and others he will eat the whole thing. I would really appreciate a response as most videos online only talk in terms of crickets and I want to make sure i’m doing the right thing. We breed the roaches in a box to save money (I have too many now!) but I will try and get some other insects too occasionally to vary his diet more
I have yet to watch this video. Apologies if you covered this but I have a quick question. My beardie is 8 months old. Is it okay if I feed him "large" crickets from Petco or are those too big? I have a 5 month old and she will only eat green vegetables. I put some in the morning and feed her a few Dubias in the evening. She is pooping and shedding fine and still trying to get used to being handled.

You are 100% correct about Super Worms. They are addictive! My dragons and geckos get Luna Roaches! The best, most nutritionally perfect reptile food around. Luna Roaches has videos on YT on care for cockroaches if anyone is interested in raising their own feeders for their family members.
Hi Chief Sweet! I have a pretty strange question. Can I feed my bearded dragons mealworms? The only reason I am asking this is because I saw a video online about a guy saying that meal worms will kill your bearded dragon.
Hi. I love your videos. I have a huge problem with my adult female bearded dragon. I purchased her when she was 18 months old. Was told she likes to be handled and all that great stuff. Well I’ve had her for 6 months now and she is still terrified of me. She obviously had no interactions with humans at all. I gave her time in space in the beginning and I started taking her out and holding her and it’s been the same ever since when I hold her she’ll close her eyes by pet or she closes her eyes. If I talk to her, she closes her eyes or closes one eye and turns her head and keeps one eye open. That’s not looking at me, I’m running out of ideas of what to do with her. Any suggestions? She doesn’t like to be walked with she’s terrified of falling. She hates the bath. I had to keep my arm in the bath with her when I give her a bath. She tries to climb up break up my arm if I put her in the bathtub break my heart highly just take her out, she’s beautiful. I love her. She’s gorgeous orange. Her name is Lexi. Any suggestions of what I should do at this point please. Sincerely, Carol Barr.
If she's scared or running away when you try to take her out of her cage then the best thing would be to 'break her in' or basically just get her used to you. Spending time around her cage, allowing her to see you most of the day. Eventually you can just have your hand in the cage with her every now and then so she realises you're not a threat. Hand feeding is also a great way to get them used to you, it's what helped the most with my beardie. Keep her in her cage and just reach in and offer a leaf. She'll associate your hand as food giver and eventually, not a threat. With the baths, instead of letting her soak, try just dripping and wiping water on her to keep her clean or keep the water 2cm deep. I hope everything goes well! She sounds gorgeous.
Hey man! Im thinking about getting a bearded dragon but im still a student and am at school from 8:45 to 3:30 , do I have to feed my dragon 3-4 times a day or is there a workaround?
Haha so green beans would be ok as a treat. They are a little high in oxalates so does interfere with calcium absorption also very high in protein. I would feed once every week or once every two weeks.
Mealworms aren’t that bad you can feed them many times a week but superworms are definitely a treat as they are high in fat and beardies will get addicted and only want to eat that
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse thank you for the info. I've still been bugging him to let me get dubia roaches but im glad to know it's alright to feed it mealworms
if your family is worried about for example dubia roaches accidently escaping, there is less of a chance because dubia roaches tend to stay in clusters and are slower. while crickets will run and jump away from you
We give our 6 month old dragon 1/4” dubia roaches. Before finding this page, I read to feed her as many as she’ll eat in one sitting. That’s way more than you’re recommending! Any suggestions or tips?
No worries I used to recommend that as well but the whole hobby is changing how much we feed because we realize we were overfeeding our dragons. So now we are recommending a less but enough for your dragon to be full.

You can buy feeder insects at a bait store that’s cheaper than buying it at Petco.
So helpful! Thank you!
Okay I know this was a long time ago but if my bearded dragon eats his greens when I feed it to him should I feed him his crickets too or no?
Question: My bearded dragon was nearly 24 inches at 13 months and then stopped growing. I thought that was normal, is it not?
Mine will not eat we took it to the vet and its having calsuim defficiency 😢
Make sure you have good uvb and it’s not too far and not getting blocked by screen too much
I have a 5 month old and she will only eat green vegetables. I put some in the morning and feed her a few Dubias in the evening. She is pooping and shedding fine and still trying to get used to being handled.
Yeah I feed mine only green vegetables as well. Very normal
My only concern is do the insects have to be moving? I’m extremely scared of bugs but I can suck it up if they are dead 😅
Great info ❤we have a Bearded Dragon 🐉 and It’s 15 inches long now and wants to eat 4 times a day and getting Fat lol😂
and hooked on Super worms 🐛 but eats crickets and dark lettuce 🥬 everyday.
I put it in a small water bowl and spray it with water and it eats it and drinks some of the water.
Im about to buy a bearded dragon i purchased juvenile bearded dragon food because i cannot handle insects will this be good enough
You are 100% correct about Super Worms. They are addictive! My dragons and geckos get Luna Roaches! The best, most nutritionally perfect reptile food around. Luna Roaches has videos on YT on care for cockroaches if anyone is interested in raising their own feeders for their family members.
I have had a bearded dragon since Sunday and been using calcium with D3 every day, will this be an issue? Should I switch over to calcium without D3
No issue you can use it.
@@ChiefSweetsUniverseCool, thanks! Been watching your Chanel for all bearded dragon stuff since Sunday, so far loving the content man👍
Hey i wanted to ask you, do i feed my baby bearded dragon 5 to 10 or 10 to 20 total insects provided i only feed once a day.
Really depends on how your dragon eats you can do any of those I usually just go with my gut
You coutinue to give me amazing info to keep my beardie healthy THANKS!!
Happy to help!
Should you leave the greens in the enclosure for the whole day?
You can, just put them on the cooler side of the tank to prevent how quickly they wilt.
Truly the best!!!
I'm getting a dwarf bearded dragon and I'm so excited
Very nice! Congrats 🎉
I can’t find a single one very good find
Same mines coming tomorrow little rankins dragon how is yours doing
I don’t even plan on getting a bearded dragon but I know if I was this video is the perfect thing to watch….. got several fancy crested geckos tho
Hi Chief Sweet! I have a pretty strange question. Can I feed my bearded dragons mealworms? The only reason I am asking this is because I saw a video online about a guy saying that meal worms will kill your bearded dragon.
Yes totally it won’t kill them. It is fattening so try and do it only 3 times a week max
Do you know what kind of camera can be placed in a dragon enclosure? I would love to be able to see my baby while I'm working
I use this one for mine it’s ok it does need wifi but works for the price amzn.to/48F3U7U
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse thank you!
Should I keep my mealworms in the fridge or room temperature?
I keep mine room temp
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse thank you so much!

Thank you!

You can feed roaches instead of
@ ok thank you 😊
I ordered like 150$ worth of bugs from a company online and never received it I was so sad
Oh no! That sucks! Email them!
No 3-4 times a week is what I meant just once a day
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse Thanks Mate! You are the best
Thanks this was really helpful
Glad you found it helpful!
Very informative. Thank you so much.
Happy to help!
Thank you for this information!!!
Love your videos!
Thank you!
Hi chiefsweet i think my bearded dragon might be sick bc her eyes look kinda flat and I don’t know what to do
Could you by chance book a vet appointment
I tried but they told me they don’t do bearded dragons
Do you give any suppliments like calsium?
Yes I have a calcium guide as well
My 1 year old beardie absolutely loves green beans 😂 Any negatives about him eating those?
Haha so green beans would be ok as a treat. They are a little high in oxalates so does interfere with calcium absorption also very high in protein. I would feed once every week or once every two weeks.
Love your content man 🔥
Thank you!
Also can i feed him cabbage?
I first got mealworm for my bearded dragon. Now I see this but my dad says it's OK and he isn't letting me buy dubia
He went on Google and lots of people say mealworms and superworms are alright and my dad won't listen to me
Mealworms aren’t that bad you can feed them many times a week but superworms are definitely a treat as they are high in fat and beardies will get addicted and only want to eat that
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse thank you for the info. I've still been bugging him to let me get dubia roaches but im glad to know it's alright to feed it mealworms
Thanks so much for the information
Happy to help!
This info was so good.
Happy to help
Yay🎉 a another amazing video you keep up the good work I love it 😀😀👍🫶👍
Thank you so much!
I need help my dragon won't poop please help vet want to charge me aloot to just bring in I tried warm baths and belly rubs
Romaine lettuce
@ChiefSweetsUniverse I can barely get him to eat so romaine lettuce will make him poop
I still live with my family and they said "NO ROACHES!" is that possible?
if your family is worried about for example dubia roaches accidently escaping, there is less of a chance because dubia roaches tend to stay in clusters and are slower. while crickets will run and jump away from you
Thank you!!!🙏🏽
i thought beared dragon cnt stay in the same enclosure?
Yes they shouldn’t
My bearded dragon loves peas is that ok
I love you my boy for this 😂
Is all of this also for the fancy bearded dragon
Yes this is for fancy and regular bearded dragons.
My bearded dragon doesn’t like chasing after crickets and he doesn’t eat them as much he’s a juvenile but he eats mealworms normally
Yeah some do that
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse do you recommend anything
