This is the secret to use your pro gaming headset like Astro A50 & A40 on Playstation 5 without this extra adapter. I show you step-by-step the BEST settings.. Just like the PS4 you can use the special digital audio cable on PS5! .. First step, connect your headset to the Digital Audio port on your gaming TV, make sure the sound MixAmp is connected with USB to the PS5, then go to your Sound Settings & use these EXACT settings. Everything works perfectly!
    Here's the PS5 adapter upgrade I mentioned in this video.. You can purchase from Amazon using the link below if your TV or Gaming Monitor for PS5 does not have a Digital Audio Port:

    The problem I had with this astro adapter, was if ever I was watching an app say RUclips, twitch, sky TV, 99% of the time when I closed it, it shut the base station off, and audio no longer worked. So I just plugged it in to the TV about a year ago and never had that issue again.

    • @mxbigd17
      @mxbigd17 2 года назад +1

      I am having the exact same problem but with my optical cord plugged into my TV. I constantly have to unplug the BaseStation and plug it back in from the power source to reboot it. This happens even when I close a game and re-open a new game. If I turn my headset on while I am in a game and turn it off before I exit the game I do not have this problem. I just sometimes forget to turn it off before I close the game out. This is getting weird.

      Why??? The biggest difference is that HDMI can pass higher-resolution audio, including the formats found on streaming services such as Dolby Atmos and DTS HD Master Audio. These formats can't be transmitted across optical. Why do people use optical still?

    One thing I think Sony should have included on the PS5 . I hate having rely on HDMI for 7:1 sound

    • @KleskReaver
      @KleskReaver 2 года назад +1

      It would have been a nice inclusion to have an optical port directly on the PS5 for setups like mine with a GoXLR (i mean whats the harm in just throwing it on there when they designed the console)
      The fact is Optical TOSLINK is technology from the 80’s and only supports Stereo sound Uncompressed, however with Compression it will do Dolby/DTS 5.1 (DVD disc quality audio) but nothing better. Unfortunately HDMI is the current and likely future method handling latest audio standards.

    Problem with this setup: If you have a PS5 and PC connected to your Astro A50 and you built the setup like this. Your TV always gives audio to your Astro box. When you want to play on PC it will not give you PC sound because it detects input on the spdif port. So you need a spdif switcher in between. Easier to use the spdif splitter. Another thing, if you want to get your PS5 to your friends and play on a pc screen (because it easier to carry that around than your TV). You still need the splitter.

      you sound silly. If you want 3d audio this entire video is pointless as you get it by just pluggin into the controller. The entire point of people wanting an optical cable is to get surround sound that is different from 3d audio. That is the purpose of needing the adapter. If you just want 3d audio use the ps5 as it comes default. lol plug into the controller and then set in the settings 3d audio for headphones and turn it on. Done.

      You do know that the power provided to the headphones by the controller is VERY limiting to the quality of the sound and the maximum volume, right? You can NEVER get as high and crisp sound with just the power provided by the controller. I tried it. Power is a limiting factor when dealing with quality in high volume. Look it up ;)

I’m not saying That some of the higher end headsets aren’t good that would be a lie but the pulse 3D’s really offers a really good experience! The same for the Xbox official headsets those are really good also and with 1 or 2 small audio tweaks in the audio settings you would think you got on studio grade headsets!!!! I am on my 2nd pair of ps5 pulse. The ear muffs are garbage and break within 5 to 6 months as did my first pair. You have to be careful taking them off your ear because sliding them off gradually tears the material from the headphones. They are cheaply made. Get the best headsets which Sony recently bought out. Audeze Maxwell. The absolute best headphones on the market. If you are going to spend $300 on a headset go for Audeze wireless. 80 hours battery life and the best sound on the market hands down. I love astro but no optical port on the ps5 was a huge mistake by Sony. Thereby making the amp useless.

    • @guitarman0365
      @guitarman0365 Год назад

      there is no reason to get them because the 3d audio works with most other headphones too. Sony did not although maybe at first to get in on the market at the beginning lock the feature behind their own products exclusively. So you should buy the headphones you actually prefer and most prefer something better comfort and sturdier than the pulse and will still get the effect of sound. Same happened with the controllers touch pad. For a while at least you could't get it on third party controllers only the dualsense but now that is changing as i now have a pro controller with a working touchpad which you couldnt for years. The same was with the 3d. for a little bit you needed the pulse but that is not the case for awhile and no longer gives anyone a reason to take the pulse seriously. Eventually maybe the haptic system will have to come out too and the dualsense itself will no longer be nessessary if you want the full experience in game. But for now that is the last remaining feature exclusive to playstation tech.

    I have a Sound BlasterX G6 DAC that I connect my headphones to my TV through optical with, but normally switch to USB directly connected to my PS5 when I'm gaming. Does that mean I could actually route the sound through my TV like I'm normally doing and still have all of the normal sound features for PS5 by doing this for my setup? PS5 and any kind of older standard digital audio is pain in the a$$… PS3 and PS4 did it flawlessly and with PS5 it’s a struggle and requires a lot of patience… and once you are able to play games in 5.1 (in most cases forget about DTS, it’s not going to work) then don’t forget to make changes in BluRay player as it has it’s own settings not related to system and by default it will output pcm 2.0…

    Only recommend buying the adapter if you use a monitor that does not have digital optical port out.
    Other than that is is a good tool to have around if you have a stereo receiver.
    A scenario this is good to use in if you have an 2.1 dac / amp on a desk connect to passive speakers on your desk.
    Which as long have you have decent speakers the audio quality is night an day. You’ll never want to go back to gaming headphones #audiophile

    Hi John, normally fortnite (PS5) runs on 4k at 60fps but when you have a monitor that can cope with 120fps then fortnite has a performance setting that lets you play at 120fps but it reduces the resolution to 1440p.
    My question is, if I bought this Astro adapter, and plugged in the optical from my mix amp, would I still be able to keep these settings as 120fps and 1440p and now be able to hear with the true optical quality sound as I used to hear when I played on ps4 before.

      Can someone verifie?

      You will not be able to play 4k , 120hz with Astro adapter. I'm having Astro a40 with mixamp and Odyssey G7 monitor.
      When everything is plugged, I could only play 1080p /120hz because of Astro adapter incompatibility to support 4k.
      But I've found the solution, instead Astro adapter, I've bought dac optical to USB audio adapter and connected monitor straight to ps5.
      Now I can play 4k, 120hz and enjoy 3d sound 😊
      Btw, with this setup, mixamp needs to be set to PC, not PS MODE
