Well technically it can. If the internal ssd is full, the ps will run a slight bit worse due to having less space to work with. The same goes for pc's. So storing your games on an extra ssd, and keeping the OG ssd as empty as possible does not give it a boost. But it will make sure that it doesnt get slower

rebuilding the database should only be a last resort. if you keep rebuilding it the read/write limit will be met and brick the ssd. that feature is better suited for traditional hard drives but the same can be said for the latter because the platter will also be worn out at some point. clearing your cache will help and the m.2 will lighten the load in terms of storage the main ssd will still be the same read/write speed

If you have external storage such as an external HDD or SSD to put games on it it does not mix well with rest mode because when you turn on your PS5 to get out of rest mode, it gives you an error that the console was not powered off properly despite being in rest mode and has to automatically rebuild database. You should turn off your PS5 in a lightning storm but it isn't going to necessarily brick your console if it happens. A surge protector can help and as long as you aren't downloading something you should be fine. Also it's not power loss that causes damage it's the surge of power that runs through when it comes back on so just unplug it from the outlet and you will be fine.

The way you’re framing “performance mode” is wrong. Performance mode is simply defaulting games to the 60 fps mode instead of 30fps in quality mode. It’s not “better performance” in performance mode.

    • @BeansLive567

i got confused on that too since most games on ps5 dont go above 60fps sure theres games that let you go 120fps/hz but the variety is quite limited

00:30 This is a preference for the default game mode it doesn't magically make your PS5 perform better.
You're just changing the default from what the devs set to Performance Mode (higher FPS but lower graphics settings)
Why not explain what these settings are actually doing and not just tell people to change them.

Just a reminder that 120 Hz refresh rate settings are pointless as the console itself cannot render any game’s visuals at 120 fps without absolutely tanking the graphics (hence why practically zero games even offer it as a game mode option). Until both your screen has a 120+ Hz refresh rate, AND you have a future console that reliably outputs 120 fps at a resolution you’re not disgusted by, you don’t have to worry about that.
