I downloaded your app, and so far it's great. I was able to link PSN, Live and Steam. But I do not see a way to link my Nintendo Network ID for Switch? Did I just miss it?
The heck is this man?! I am finally about to get the PS5 after playing PS4 for the last 10+ years (guess how many times I cleaned that thing, haha), and I did not know how many features this thing had. Literally creating a custom audio profile and 3D audio from TV speakers while also participating in the community game help feature just feels so futuristic. I feel like I am living in 2040 already.

I still personally would rather take the black flicker when opening non-HDR content up than it maybe be presented visually incorrectly but that is rare anyway tbf. I get your thinking but everything shown on the thumb is in the video. Just instead of showing the actual settings, the thumb shows what they do. Voice commands are experimental features, some options save storage (as implied by the storage saver option), some options enhance audio etc etc.
Yeahhh 😅 When I started working on this video, I definitely underestimated the number of settings it would come to haha but there's so much just not setup by default, or configured a little strangely that I'm sure most would rather change. Thanks for watching! 😊
Thanks for this guide! It helped with some of the smaller settings like having the controller auto shut off during inactivity and battery charger tips. Maybe a future video idea would be on how to optimize the PS5 as your media box- for Hulu TV and Netflix and etc...I got the $30 remote for Ultra BR and am considering using PS5 as a replacement box to the Apple TV 4K 2021..but it seems like the Apple TV box does a lot of video signal prepwork on its own. The resolution seems to be pixelated for streamed content seen on PS5 vs the Apple TV, and colors seems to be washed on PS5 when they are vibrant on Apple TV- that would be for when you have the same content loaded on both and are switching between the two for comparison. I would have thought the PS5 and Pro would be viable replacement boxes to a streaming box, but it seems like it's not prepping the signal the way the Apple TV does (not including Prime because I think they actively make their content look dim/dark on Apple TV)- and I can't find settings to change. Resolution mode all the way! I've done my fair share of gaming at 20-30FPS..and occasional dips don't bother me
Good tips, I bet myself I’d know them all but I didnt. I told my fancy 2022 120hz Samsung QLED TV and my PS5 and my XSX not to communicate with each other, switching off ALL “smart” options in all 3 machines. But my PS5 sometimes changes the channel when it switches on and when I put on lore videos to sleep then switch the TV’s screen off (but leave sound on) my Xbox sometimes turns on. Really clever stuff😁
As a new ps5 owner (the first time I'd even seen one in person was 2 days ago when i bought mine), this video helped a lot. Don't need to use all these settings but some are quite helpful. i always rename all my consoles devices based on different characters from G1 Transformers mine is Orion Pax which is what Optimus prime name was before he was redesigned as Optimus
@@MogsterKupo I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's a way to balance refresh rate/performance with resolution, especially games optimized for the PS4 Pro. However some TVs or monitors don't support 1440p, and if the game doesn't do any AI upscaling it'll just be displayed as 1080p

Thank you! I did consider mentioning this, but didn't as it isn't actually something 99% of people should touch. When it's kept at automatic, it should correctly set the RGB range in-line with your TV's options and if you change it to something that doesn't match, it could limit what colours are seen. I figured it wasn't worth causing confusion when it only affects a very very small number of TVs that don't send the data over properly. You are right to point it out though! 9:30 I also use my PS5 to watch movies via DVD and have experienced some audio issues when watching Dune Part 2 which could just be my audio device itself not being compatible with 4K blu-ray or some setting I am unaware of in the PS5 itself, due to how other movies sounds perfectly fine I don't know what exactly the problem is But either way media playback on top of gaming would be really useful to explore if you do make that video :)
I'll definitely keep this in mind! If the issue is ONLY with that one blu-ray in the PS5, and other blu-ray's are fine, then it's likely that Dune 2 maybe offers several choices of audio streams and the default selected doesn't match your audio system. When in media playback, see if there are multiple audio channels and try the others to see if it fixes it. 😊 I'll 100% continue exploring that video idea for the future. I've actually had a script for it for almost a year, but it's just a really complicated one to be able to explain properly to each person's different setup, without causing confusion, so it's kind of been put on the back burner haha. One caveat to your output sound suggestion for using ‘linear PCM’ is that is you state that using a sound bar/receiver connected with eARC use LPCM. But in the case of a sonos (atmos sound bar) using eARC with satellite speakers LPCM drops it to a 2 channel. For that scenario use the ‘atmos priority.’ That’s my setup for the audio.

This is honestly why I thought about making a whole video on this topic as there are so many different possible audio configurations that it's hard to get it right for everyone quickly, and most will have it set wrong for their setup. I will save you the time. If you want faster downloads only a few things are possible. 1. Get a faster internet connection. 2. Use a different DNS server 3. Hard wire your connection.
@apathy7711 yeah the main is with the 2nd. The issue is most people tell people to just change it to google's or cloudflare's but that's entirely location dependent. There's a local network test that can be done that tests a large chunk of domain name servers, and then tells you which has the best latency, or raw speed etc. I did make a video on this a whileeee back but it needs updating.
I'm glad you found some of it helpful! I've been the only one involved in developing the app & have been very, very careful to ensure it's secure. To link your PSN, Xbox & Steam accounts, it never needs a password but just your username. The app then essentially looks at what's available publicly on that account with that username to import it all, which is why it's important your privacy is public for importing. It can be reverted back afterwards. Then the app also doesn't store or look at any of your data, aside from the email you give it for account creation & of course the stuff you create within the app itself. Let me know if you have any other concerns and I'll explain them the best I can 😊

Just note that the app is in English, and whilst you can use the power of your phone's browser to translate a chunk of the text, it is natively English for now. As it grows, I'll hopefully be able to get it translated properly to other languages too but for now it's just me working on it.

In my main setup it's just a 4K60HZ screen from Samsung that I got back when the PS4 Pro released. We have an LGCX OLED & LG G2 77" OLED downstairs though so i use the PS5 with those sometimes too 😊
No worries! I did wonder whether to cut back when making the video, but I decided to ultimately make it as indepth as possible and ensure everything is covered 😊
My educated guess for this is that it's partially hardware-reliant. The Slim & Pro likely use updated chips for the USB-C ports that are able to monitor the power level of the connected device directly, whereas the original console doesn't. Sony wouldn't add a feature to the slim but not the original if it was purely software based, so it has to be that the original console is lacking something on the hardware side that allows it. Ayy thank you so much, means a lot! 💙 I don't have a B06 settings video in the works unfortunately for a couple of reasons. 1, it released at a time where I've been very busy with other things and content, 2, I did one for MW3 last year that *completely* flopped so I just sort of assumed people weren't interested in my settings vids for cod 😅, and 3, I don't actually have the game yet! So sorry I won't be getting one out for that. I make sure that I do all PlayStation first-party releases where possible, and then as many other major games as I can but sometimes things just clash. 🥲
You can swap the triggers to front shoulder buttons for instant ads and shooting in the cod games anyway I did it on war zone 1 because the triggers were way too delayed in comparison! 🤘🏼😎
Yes you can! :D I think it's nice to have it available at a simple system-wide toggle though so you only have to set it up once across your shooters. Of course that's personal preference though 😊

One thing that bugs me is that ps3 trophies are alphabetical but 4 and 5 aren’t they need to implement that option would be so cool! And an absolute dream would be if they separated games with dead servers online trophies so people could still platinum old games! For instance I’ve platinumed far cry 3 up to 6 but 2 I never did the online because it was absolute trash but the servers died years ago so no hope now! 😩
How do you keep people from hacling the my back up feature? Plus any clue why red dead won't automatically upload to the cloud? I have to do it manually every time i get done playing
Hey sorry for the slow response! For RDR2, you'll have turned off auto sync at some point by accident. Do this: 1. Settings. 2. Saved data & game app settings. 3. Go to Saved Data (PS4) as it's a PS4 game. 4. Auto-Upload. 5. You should now see toggles come up for every PS4 game you have installed with Saved data. RDR2's is probably off, toggle it back on. 👍 For stopping people hacking MyBacklog, I've put a lot of work into ensuring all usual vulnerabilities are covered, and that all user data is secure as possible. The only sensitive data stored there is your email address too, and that & all your game info etc is stored on Amazon's web servers which is also routed via Cloudflare so there are several layers of highly reputable and secure networks that need to be infiltrated to be able to hack the site. If you mean how is linking your accounts secure, well it simply users your username and that only. You never give it your account's password or anything else, as with just a username, if you've get your game data to public, it can then view your profile through its own PSN account so intelligently import and sort your games based on your trophy list. A lot of work has gone into it to make sure it's secure, but I certainly understand the skepticism 😊
“100GB Call of Duty update that wont finish for like a year”!? What kind if internet are you running? I have FIOS, and I just installed 2 100GB+ games the other day in 25 minutes. You need to upgrade your internet Fam. Hell Space Marine 2 took just over 5 minutes to fully download and get into to play.

Tried your app on a new Samsung S23 Ultra but couldn't get past making a account. After filling out the info and checking the Captha thing and hitting continue it never advances. My Email address was shown in White so maybe that's a sign of something but it's a legit Gmail i use all the time.

Okay so this has been tested quite extensively on several Androids & I've never experienced this, so this is good to know! It's accelerated by the primary browser on your device, do you know what that's set to? I'd recommend chrome if that's an option, but if not, let me know what it is. 😊

If you want to access via a browser, go to mybacklog.gg. When in chrome, you can save it to your home screen and the site will intelligently turn itself into the app rather than a web shortcut. Then use that version and see if it opens. 🤔

@Nice2cu8711 Brilliant, this is really useful to know, thank you! I haven't tested with that setup, so will find a way to do so. In the meantime, could you please try setting your default browser to Chrome and see if that fixes the issue? You can immediately set it back after if edge is important to you, but it would be great if you could try this. So that I only have to maintain 1 codebase as a solo dev instead of 3, its web powered so is accelerated by your primary browser app rather than the phone OS itself for the most part.
It's because of trigger dead zone. L1 and R1 are buttons, but L2 and R2 are triggers that can take some time to pull all the way down (you can set to press the trigger with customization of the controller), but with L1 and R1 they are just buttons.
Why in the hell would I use the controller's built-in speaker if I was using headphones? Given that headphones block outside sound, that seems kinda silly.
If you are using headphones, then the speaker doesn't get used, but it's helpful for when you aren't. I do agree though that it's weird that some sounds are controller exclusive and don't seem to get re-routed through headphones.

@@Octorious Try no HDR at all, calibrate TV on movie mode then you'll be shocked for how fantastic picture quality looks!
PS5's SDR to HDR makes the reds skew to orange. It's best to leave HDR on when supported.

Probably a dumb question, but why set resolution to 1440p when using a 4K TV?
I would assume because it just gives you the most quality. The resolution being higher just gives better quality overall

My PS4 used to do this. Turns out there was some dust in the power button that would trigger it because it was very sensitive.

I also use my PS5 to watch movies via DVD and have experienced some audio issues when watching Dune Part 2 which could just be my audio device itself not being compatible with 4K blu-ray or some setting I am unaware of in the PS5 itself, due to how other movies sounds perfectly fine I don't know what exactly the problem is
But either way media playback on top of gaming would be really useful to explore if you do make that video :)
I'll definitely keep this in mind! If the issue is ONLY with that one blu-ray in the PS5, and other blu-ray's are fine, then it's likely that Dune 2 maybe offers several choices of audio streams and the default selected doesn't match your audio system. When in media playback, see if there are multiple audio channels and try the others to see if it fixes it. 😊
I'll 100% continue exploring that video idea for the future. I've actually had a script for it for almost a year, but it's just a really complicated one to be able to explain properly to each person's different setup, without causing confusion, so it's kind of been put on the back burner haha.

One caveat to your output sound suggestion for using ‘linear PCM’ is that is you state that using a sound bar/receiver connected with eARC use LPCM. But in the case of a sonos (atmos sound bar) using eARC with satellite speakers LPCM drops it to a 2 channel. For that scenario use the ‘atmos priority.’ That’s my setup for the audio.

This is honestly why I thought about making a whole video on this topic as there are so many different possible audio configurations that it's hard to get it right for everyone quickly, and most will have it set wrong for their setup. I will save you the time. If you want faster downloads only a few things are possible. 1. Get a faster internet connection. 2. Use a different DNS server 3. Hard wire your connection.
@apathy7711 yeah the main is with the 2nd. The issue is most people tell people to just change it to google's or cloudflare's but that's entirely location dependent. There's a local network test that can be done that tests a large chunk of domain name servers, and then tells you which has the best latency, or raw speed etc. I did make a video on this a whileeee back but it needs updating.

I've been the only one involved in developing the app & have been very, very careful to ensure it's secure. To link your PSN, Xbox & Steam accounts, it never needs a password but just your username. The app then essentially looks at what's available publicly on that account with that username to import it all, which is why it's important your privacy is public for importing. It can be reverted back afterwards.
Then the app also doesn't store or look at any of your data, aside from the email you give it for account creation & of course the stuff you create within the app itself. Let me know if you have any other concerns and I'll explain them the best I can 😊

Hey! Thanks so much for your interest! Google are in the process of approving it for more countries as we speak, so hopefully super soon - probably in the next 48 hours. Just note that the app is in English, and whilst you can use the power of your phone's browser to translate a chunk of the text, it is natively English for now. As it grows, I'll hopefully be able to get it translated properly to other languages too but for now it's just me working on it.

Depends on the tv or monitor as older tvs won't work with the ps5 functions.

In my main setup it's just a 4K60HZ screen from Samsung that I got back when the PS4 Pro released. We have an LGCX OLED & LG G2 77" OLED downstairs though so i use the PS5 with those sometimes too 😊

I really want to use the adaptive feature on my PS5 but for whatever reason it’s not available for the OG why ?
My educated guess for this is that it's partially hardware-reliant. The Slim & Pro likely use updated chips for the USB-C ports that are able to monitor the power level of the connected device directly, whereas the original console doesn't.
Sony wouldn't add a feature to the slim but not the original if it was purely software based, so it has to be that the original console is lacking something on the hardware side that allows it.

I don't have a B06 settings video in the works unfortunately for a couple of reasons. 1, it released at a time where I've been very busy with other things and content, 2, I did one for MW3 last year that *completely* flopped so I just sort of assumed people weren't interested in my settings vids for cod 😅, and 3, I don't actually have the game yet!
So sorry I won't be getting one out for that. I make sure that I do all PlayStation first-party releases where possible, and then as many other major games as I can but sometimes things just clash. 🥲
You can swap the triggers to front shoulder buttons for instant ads and shooting in the cod games anyway I did it on war zone 1 because the triggers were way too delayed in comparison! 🤘🏼😎
Yes you can! :D I think it's nice to have it available at a simple system-wide toggle though so you only have to set it up once across your shooters. Of course that's personal preference though 😊

One thing that bugs me is that ps3 trophies are alphabetical but 4 and 5 aren’t they need to implement that option would be so cool! And an absolute dream would be if they separated games with dead servers online trophies so people could still platinum old games! For instance I’ve platinumed far cry 3 up to 6 but 2 I never did the online because it was absolute trash but the servers died years ago so no hope now! 😩

Hey sorry for the slow response! For RDR2, you'll have turned off auto sync at some point by accident. Do this:
1. Settings.
2. Saved data & game app settings.
3. Go to Saved Data (PS4) as it's a PS4 game.
4. Auto-Upload.
5. You should now see toggles come up for every PS4 game you have installed with Saved data. RDR2's is probably off, toggle it back on. 👍
For stopping people hacking MyBacklog, I've put a lot of work into ensuring all usual vulnerabilities are covered, and that all user data is secure as possible. The only sensitive data stored there is your email address too, and that & all your game info etc is stored on Amazon's web servers which is also routed via Cloudflare so there are several layers of highly reputable and secure networks that need to be infiltrated to be able to hack the site. If you mean how is linking your accounts secure, well it simply users your username and that only. You never give it your account's password or anything else, as with just a username, if you've get your game data to public, it can then view your profile through its own PSN account so intelligently import and sort your games based on your trophy list. A lot of work has gone into it to make sure it's secure, but I certainly understand the skepticism 😊

Tried your app on a new Samsung S23 Ultra but couldn't get past making a account. After filling out the info and checking the Captha thing and hitting continue it never advances.
My Email address was shown in White so maybe that's a sign of something but it's a legit Gmail i use all the time.
Mine is alright. Maybe it's something about the phone, like compatibility and etc.

It's accelerated by the primary browser on your device, do you know what that's set to? I'd recommend chrome if that's an option, but if not, let me know what it is. 😊

If you want to access via a browser, go to mybacklog.gg.
When in chrome, you can save it to your home screen and the site will intelligently turn itself into the app rather than a web shortcut. Then use that version and see if it opens. 🤔

In the meantime, could you please try setting your default browser to Chrome and see if that fixes the issue? You can immediately set it back after if edge is important to you, but it would be great if you could try this. So that I only have to maintain 1 codebase as a solo dev instead of 3, its web powered so is accelerated by your primary browser app rather than the phone OS itself for the most part.

how are you shooting first if you switch the bumpers??
It's because of trigger dead zone. L1 and R1 are buttons, but L2 and R2 are triggers that can take some time to pull all the way down (you can set to press the trigger with customization of the controller), but with L1 and R1 they are just buttons.

Why in the hell would I use the controller's built-in speaker if I was using headphones? Given that headphones block outside sound, that seems kinda silly.
If you are using headphones, then the speaker doesn't get used, but it's helpful for when you aren't.
I do agree though that it's weird that some sounds are controller exclusive and don't seem to get re-routed through headphones.
