Can you explain in simpler terms what this is for? I just bought the A50s and have a PS5! Trying to figure out if I need this. Also is there a way I can get my astros to charge while the PS5 is in rest mode?
The astro mixamp has 2 audio channels: USB and optical. If you only use USB then you are "stuck" with 1 channel and you can't change eg the voice volume vs game volume because all is going over 1 channel. Additionally it seems like the USB driver of the PS5 is ... pretty basic and doesn't give the fullest audio. In my experience I liked the audio better over optical. So what this thing does is take the audio out of the HDMI signal and sends it over to an optical port so you can enjoy that second channel (optical) of your mixamp again. However some TV's have an optical out, in this case you don't need the adapter. Also if you are happy with the USB audio and you dont need to switch volume levels, then you don't need this and you can just use optical
Can this be used on non Astro headsets? I have a Steelseries Arctis Pro that I want to connect to my Ps5 when it comes in. Just curious if this would work with it or not

So I’m trying to figure out before i buy . I only need it for streaming so my stream can hear my chat audio ? Is this what’s needed or no . And could i stream with a wireless headset and it pick up all audio
not needed and it depends on the headset, an Astro A40 mixamp (wired) has a stream port that sends out all audio that comes in & out to a single output, great for streamers, sadly only on the wired mixamp. So if you would use the audio extractor, you could connect the optical to your PC and capture the incoming voice & game audio, but it will not capture your voice. So you'll have to use a second mic
nope, that solution is the same, the tv basically also has a kind of audio extractor build in, so I can't image you'll have a benefit of buying an external one

you can use a regular micro usb, just don't take a cheap one as they dont conduct power so well. There should be one included. Worst case you can buy a 5v adapter, like the ones you would use for your phone
Hi, hopefully you will respond. Is there a way I can have the astros connected to both the PS4 and PS5 at the same time? So whenever I’d turn on one console they would be ready and working for each console? It’s a hassle to keep unplugging the cables
you could work with an optical splitter, but then the USB connection would still be an issue ... so i'd say no unless you start doing crazy stuff in which case it'll probably be cheaper just to buy a second mixamp in case of the A50 you could just get a second base and then click it in the base for a sec and it'll sync

I watched your video and it worked first time but after I went to use it again my ps5 no longer comes up on hdmi input but only viszeo comes up instead. Any help?
you need USB for power anyway, if you put it in the console you'll be able to use USB for voice (creating channel 1) and then optical for game audio (which creates channel 2). Wether you get the optical sound from and adapter or from your TV that doesn't matter

Hi. I bought such an adapter, but without a power cable, what cable do you need there because it does not work on a regular USB type B. Please help someone
you can use a regular micro usb, just don't take a cheap one as they dont conduct power so well.
It’s a hassle to keep unplugging the cables
you could work with an optical splitter, but then the USB connection would still be an issue ... so i'd say no unless you start doing crazy stuff in which case it'll probably be cheaper just to buy a second mixamp
