    I gotta give major props to whoever edited this video - all the "surgical cuts" to shorten the tracks are VERY well done! It wasn't just a random hack-n-slash chop job like most videos that hop, skip, & jump through the songs ; attention was paid to rhythms and riffs so the sudden advances were unexpected but not unsettling. I do audio editing and engineering so, I appreciate good edits.

    Awesome album choice, guys! Metallica is legendary, and this is probably their best. But if you’re still exploring the roots of metal, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest are the true trailblazers. Sabbath made it heavy, Priest made it metal. Legendary vocalists and both bands dual guitar work and vocal prowess laid the groundwork for bands like Megadeth and Metallica and shaped the entire genre. If you haven’t already, check out Maiden’s Number of the Beast and Powerslave, they're must-listens. And for Priest, start with Sad Wings of Destiny, and Painkiller. I know I’ve mentioned it before, but these are the albums that define metal history!

    I swear no-one in this world can headbang in the right rhythm to the opening track 😅 You just naturally start nodding your head to the beat of the snare on the verse but when the second riff hits your neck is like "what just happened". I was only able to hear the riff as it's supposed to be when I heard the instrumental demo version of the song. What a great album, and actually it was Escape that originally made me fall in love with the band in the eighties. I had heard One and some other tracks but the chorus of Escape just stuck in my head. Love that song and I don't care what others think. And the way that the chorus is in major key at first and in the end in minor key. Also Fade in Black is quite a different song as it has a chorus without vocals. And you still want to sing to it.

    Patiently waiting for the And Justice for All reaction as it's my favorite Metallica album.
    You guys need to find the version of the album that re adds in the bass to get the full experience.

    You guys gotta bring Little Man back and do Deep Purple's album, Machine Head. It's a killer record. It's also one of the most rocking ass organ players in the world.
    That record has something for everyone: shredding organ for Little Man, shredding guitars for the guitar enthusiasts, killer drums for the drum enthusiasts. Machine Head is one of the records that made Metal what it would eventually become.

    The last song, Call of Ktulu, is an instrumental. And while it may seem a bit repetitive initially, try listening between the lines because that entire section before the guitar solo is a canvas for Cliff Burton, their bassist, to do cool stuff on the bass, in essence, he's doing lead lines almost the entire time, if you want to pick it out easier, it's the noises that sound a bit like a massive creature underneath the other instruments, imo he's trying to replicate Ktulu moving under the waters in the oceans

      @njldst2007 9 дней назад

      @@Dunnay48 A part of me believes this was done with Cliff's okay, plus the fact that they weren't exposed to high calibre professional mixers at that point. I can't picture a scenario where someone with Cliff's influence on the band can lie down on something as vital as how he sounded.

    • @Dunnay48
      @Dunnay48 9 дней назад

      @@njldst2007 hmm that might be it, i've just heard *not necessarily true then i guess* that Cliff wouldn't stay around much during the final mastering, which would then mean he wouldn't be there to defend his audibility, etc etc made quiet in the mix.

    • @njldst2007
      @njldst2007 9 дней назад +1

      @@Dunnay48 Could be that too, who knows. One thing I did notice is that after I was aware of the bass' sound, I feel like I notice it much more easier the following listens, so it's like a cool easter egg of sorts I guess

    This is the best album of all time. 1st Metallica I was exposed to, no internet in 1984. I saw them for the 1st time with Cliff on RTL tour Feb 15th 1985 at a bar in St.Louis, they opened for WASP. Still have my tkt stub...$10.. RTL solo is epic. I still listen to this album frequently. It NEVER gets old.. Not one bad note on 1st 4 albums. Black is Meh, rest is garbage... Oh, saw Dave and the boys open for King Diamond couple of years later at a bar in Shitcago... Ah, the good ole days..... Enjoy your youth...

    To think that the mind of a young Cliff conceived the idea of making a song so abstract through the idea of making of instrumental piece about a weird ancient lovecraft god where his distorted bass was like the voice of that unkown universal entity
    always I loved that idea, very genius

    Fun facts about the song Escape;
    - They went to the studio with 7 songs but the label said they needed 8 songs, so they wrote Escape in like 3 days for the album
    - For this reason, they decided to write song the song about how they don't like being told what to do
    - James Hetfield hates this song, and says its his least favourite from their discography
    - As far as I can remember, they have only played the song live once, during a full live playthrough of this album
